[001] - Application Standard Components Library 0.2.0
by Ada95Rules (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcreem/)
Wed, Apr 11th 2007 08:36
Software Development :: Libraries
About: ASCL comprises a set of reusable Ada packages. The focus is not on
light-weight components but larger components such as a configuration
manager and a CLI application environment which does all the argument
parsing. It also includes a build environment for Linux which can be
updated and maintained independently of the actual source code. It
supports the personal software process for Ada programming.

[002] - Asbru Web Content Editor 7.0
by Asbru Ltd (http://freshmeat.net/users/vejrum/)
Wed, Apr 11th 2007 09:30
Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
About: Asbru Web Content Editor is a cross-browser and cross-platform
WYSIWYG HTML/XHTML Web content editor component for Web designers and
programmers. It can be integrated into Web applications to give
non-technical users access to create and update Web content. It can be
used as a replacement for a simple TEXTAREA input field in contact forms,
message boards, Web email systems, and Web content management systems.
Features include CSS style sheet support, drag and drop editing, and
advanced hyperlink and media managers.
Changes: This release adds simpler methods to invoke the Web content
editor and to pass parameters. The web content editor can be dynamically
invoked for the target container. Editor skins are supported. Drop-down
menu toolbar buttons are used for more compact toolbars. WYSIWYG drop-down
toolbar select-boxes were added for Safari. Contextual menus and various
other improvements were added.

[003] - AsItHappens 0.35
by Mark Abrahams (http://freshmeat.net/users/markabrahams/)
Wed, Apr 11th 2007 15:11
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
About: AsItHappens is a real-time network statistics collector and
grapher. It collects data from devices over a network via ICMP and SNMP
and displays them on a graph, optionally storing collected data in a
database for later retrieval. Collection types include network response,
bandwidth usage, processor usage, memory usage, Cisco NBAR, and Cisco
NetFlow. AsItHappens polls data in regular intervals, which can be in the
order of milliseconds, to give immediate feedback on network performance.
AsItHappens can also graph flow information from packet capture files.
Changes: This release fixes a bug in handling NetFlow match criteria
addresses (source, destination, and next-hop) and includes some usage
documentation that was previously left out of the installer packages. It
provides an option to reduce the "trim" around the edge of graphs, to give
the actual graphed data more window space (good for smaller graph sizes).

Wed, Apr 11th 2007 19:57
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Systems Administration
About: CPAN+changelog.pl is a wrapper script for the CPAN Perl module. It
adds ChangeLog and BuildLog functionality. A ChangeLog allows an
administrator to better decide if and when a module from CPAN should be
upgraded. A BuildLog helps answer questions like, "When was module Foo
installed?" or, "Were there any warnings when compiling Bar?"
Changes: For the "-r" option, the upgradeables-list is now sorted
according to release date (approximated by the mtime of the Changelog
file). CPAN::expand methods were replaced with/CPAN::Shell->expand/g, as
CPAN::expand methods are not available in CPAN 1.90. The script now tries
to ignore an admin-configured list of distribution files. -addignore
module_or_distribution, -delignore module_or_distribution, and -showignore
options were added.

Wed, Apr 11th 2007 04:27

About: Executable files may be linked statically or dynamically.
Dynamically linked executables use less disk space and memory, but
require appropriative dynamic libraries present in order to run. ELF

dynamically linked executable and all its libraries. This file can be
copied and run on another machine with no need for all of the libraries.
Changes: A fix was made for [vdso], [heap], and [stack] in the

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: NagiosAppender is a pure Java implementation of a Log4j appender
that allows the developer/administrator to send log records to Nagios via
the NCSA server (using the push model). It provides a simple solution for
Nagios administrators whose only alternative is to implement a polling
function against against the output of a standard Log4j appender. The
log4j configuration file provides for user-specific mappings between Log4j
levels and Nagios levels. The configuration file also allows the user to
select whether to set the Nagios 'service' and 'host' programmatically via
Log4j MDC, or via the config file. Later releases support XOR encryption.
Changes: It is now possible to define inclusion and exclusion regex
filters which are applied against the raw message body. These filters can
be tailored to allow you to cherry pick exactly the messages you want
forwarded and those you do not.

Wed, Apr 11th 2007 19:42
Internet
Security
Software Development :: Libraries
About: PGSSAPI lets you selectively plug external GSSAPI security
libraries into applications without having to recompile the application
each time. It decouples applications from particular GSSAPI
implementations and allows you to combine implementations. It works by
wrapping and dispatching standard GSS calls to libraries that you would
otherwise directly link against. It dynamically loads GSS libraries,
selecting which one to dispatch to by configuration file or by examining
the standard header of GSS network tokens.
Changes: In this alpha release not every GSS operation wrapper has been
implemented. The focus has been on supporting both versions 1 and 2 of the
GSSAPI (RFC1509 and RFC 2744). A test/demo tool included with the sources
shows gss_init_sec_context and gss_accept_sec_context working sufficiently
to build a security context.

[056] - POMStrap 1.0.6
by Alag (http://freshmeat.net/users/Alag/)
Wed, Apr 11th 2007 15:12
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: POMStrap is a really simple Java application bootstrap and
classloader trick that allows dependency "classloading" without side
effect. POMStrap uses Maven2 pom files to resolve dependencies required to
launch an application. For example, if your application depends on A-1.0
(and can only work with this version) and B-1.0; and if B-1.0 also depends
on A-2.0, then B-1.0's dependency won't normally be able to be satisfied
without violating another one of your application's dependencies. POMStrap
avoids this kind of dependency conflict.
Changes: This release fixes a bug in the classloader manager related to
the resources finder and adds a small fix to system properties handling.
Upgrading is recommended.
