[006] - BeanKeeper 2.3.0.3
by Robert (http://freshmeat.net/users/demonofthesystem/)
Tue, Jun 5th 2007 10:32
Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: BeanKeeper (formerly Simple Persistence for Java) is a full
featured, powerful object/relational persistence and query library. It has
a unique philosophy of simpleness and ease of use: it does not require
config files, annotations, code generation, code "enhancing", or any kind
of tools to be used. It handles simple Java beans (or POJOs) and its query
service returns lists. Despite its simpleness, under the hood the library
takes care of all the necessary logic: transaction visibility, result list
paging, keys and ids, table creation/modification, class relations,
inheritance/polymorphism, case sensitiveness, and much more. It currently
supports: Oracle, HSQLDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Changes: Linear iteration performance of lazy lists has been improved. An
HSQLDB double shutdown bug has been fixed. The serial generation algorithm
has been fixed.

[009] - Compute Portal Project 0.8.11
by Shawn Houston (http://freshmeat.net/users/shouston/)
Tue, Jun 5th 2007 15:04
About: A portal project to produce a Web-based front end to a compute
resource, such as a cluster, using PHP, MySQL, and Apache. The intent is
to allow non-programmers to use complex programs through an intuitive
interface.
Changes: This is the third attempt to create a working release with an
install script. The last two releases were plagued with copy and paste
errors. This release is strictly a bugfix release that has been tested in
a production environment. There may still be residual problems from the
0.8.8 to 0.8.9 transition that included the first install script and moved
several directory locations. Please give this release a try.

About: CPAN+changelog.pl is a wrapper script for the CPAN Perl module. It
adds ChangeLog and BuildLog functionality. A ChangeLog allows an
administrator to better decide if and when a module from CPAN should be
upgraded. A BuildLog helps answer questions like, "When was module Foo
installed?" or, "Were there any warnings when compiling Bar?"

System :: Installation/Setup
About: Instant-Grid is a Knoppix-based live-CD bundled with a
pre-configured grid environment based on the Globus Toolkit. One PC
started from this CD becomes the Instant-Grid frontend. It also functions
as a PXE boot-server, allowing other PCs in the same local network to boot
the Instant-Grid environment. Together with the frontend, these PCs
automatically form a working test grid. Like with the original Knoppix,
the existing configuration of the participating PC is not touched (except
maybe for enabling the PXE boot-option), and remains instantly available
by a simple reboot.
Changes: This version has a newly designed user interface improving its
accessibility for beginners, which is further enhanced by new flash videos
showcasing the most important features. Also new is the integration of the

About: MySpeed measures download and upload connection speeds by timing
actual data transfers between your server and end-users. Server-side
bandwidth test reports provide visibility to the consistency of bandwidth
delivery, key information for managing VoIP, Web application, and help
desk environments. Max pause, the longest pause recorded during the data
download, and round trip time are also reported. The professional version
adds a server-side repository which logs the speed test results, session
ID tracking, and a continuous testing option for further analysis.
Changes: A bandwidth test graph illustrates how the download speed
fluctuates during a speed test and displays the pauses between sending
data blocks (TCP gaps). A VoIP test graph illustrates how the download
speed fluctuates during a speed test. The Country Location of the client
is logged with speed test results. Server-side Remote Test Agent
management enables RTAS to be created, modified, and removed through the
MySpeed server console. Automated alerts provide instant notification by
