Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: Arkhon Web Application Framework provides an extremely lightweight,
modular, and extensible framework for developing scalable community based
groupware applications through the PHP language.
Changes: The API is now complete and should not change in future versions
(although new features may well be added). A number of bugs were fixed and
the module writing documentation was completed.

[002] - AWFFull 3.8.1-beta1
by Steve McInerney (http://freshmeat.net/users/spm999/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 03:27
Internet :: Log Analysis
About: AWFFull is a Web server log analysis program, forked from
Webalizer. It adds a number of new features and improvements, such as
GeoIP capability, internationalisation, style changes via CSS, extended
front page history (more than 12 months), resizable graphs, and lots of
backend changes and simplification. The long term goal is to focus on Web
Analytics, not just Web Reporting.
Changes: A series of "at a glance" viewable Analytics were added to the
monthly reports, based on published metrics and ratios: Stickiness, Single
Access, and Popularity. Minor additions were made to the monthly summary
reports. The bookmarks feature was removed due to increasing inaccuracy.
Some less useful configuration options were deprecated. Lots of back-end
code changes were made to ease maintenance efforts.

by Lev_Arris (http://freshmeat.net/users/LevArris/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 03:32
System :: Archiving :: Backup
About: Bacula is a set of programs that allow you to manage the backup,
recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of different
computers. It is based on a client/server architecture and is efficient
and relatively easy to use, while offering many advanced storage
management features that make it easy to find and recover lost or damaged
files.
Changes: This release includes mostly bugfixes. The Win32 encryption
restore signature errors should be fixed and reload with syntax errors in
@include should work. The license was changed to unmodified GPL v2
(previously, it was GPL v2 with modifications).

[004] - Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript 2007-06-16
by Terry Burton (http://freshmeat.net/users/terryburton/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 12:23
Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business
About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.
Changes: The code was refactored to support multiple renderers. A parsable
renderer field was added to each encoder. A renderer for maxicode symbols
was added, but there is no encoder for this yet.

[005] - Bare XML 0.05
by David Helkowski (http://freshmeat.net/users/codechild/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 13:04
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: Bare XML is a "bare" XML parser with all primary parsing done via a
simple state engine with about 20 or so different states. A tree structure
is created during parsing, with all node names and values linked via
pointers directly into the original text buffer. As such, Bare XML is
extremely fast and simple. Currently, the parser is available in a perl
module with Perl glue to turn the created tree into a Perl hash tree. The
module name is XML::Bare.
Changes: The module has been stabilized and should build on all Unix based
systems with perl and g++. In addition, the module works with the latest
ActivePerl and MSVC on Win32. Parsing via C++ into a Perl hash tree is
stable and can output clean indented XML.

About: CgEddie is a very simple editor for writing and compiling Cg
shaders. It supports syntax highlighting (and also semantics), auto
indentation, and multiple file editing. It uses the nVidia Cg compiler to
check shaders at run-time.
Changes: New features include Cg function highlighting, calltips for
functions, new shader profiles (SM 3.0, GLSL), marking of compilation
errors, improved auto-indentation, and a toolbar with icons.

by Piotr Pszczolkowski (http://freshmeat.net/users/PiotrPsz/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 13:03
Software Development :: Build Tools
Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
About: Cobras is a programming environment for Qt, and is written in Qt
itself. It has an integrated debugger (as a front-end for GDB), and is
very functional and helpful. It is fast and easy to use. It consists of
one binary file (plus an icon for the desktop). It does not create its own
files when working with a project, but uses only the original '.pro' file.
Changes: While working in the editor, the user can open a special tool
window with the names of all function definitions in the current source
code. After function selection, the cursor goes to this function in the
source code. A syntax highlighter bug concerning C comments with empty
lines was corrected. Focus problems with minimized editor windows were
corrected. A few other corrections were made.

[010] - Dragon parser generator 1.2.9
by lemke (http://freshmeat.net/users/lemke/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 03:24
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: Dragon is a powerful parser generator. It produces a consequent,
object-oriented, integrated scanner and parser solution. It also scales
for very large grammar defintions. Since dragon parses LR(1) grammars, the
generation algorithm is quite CPU intensive. Using LR(1) instead of LALR
decreases efficiency of the parser, but avoids some reduce/reduce
conflicts in some cases. Dragon provides a very clean and structured way
for the integration of application specific context code. Dragon combines
the lexical and syntactical analysis and the corresponding code
generation.
Changes: Performance improvements in the analyze stage and small
enhancements for Java code generation.

by Bartek Kostrzewa (http://freshmeat.net/users/tschew/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 23:11
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
About: Gimmage is a simple image viewer that aims to have a minimalist
interface and tries to be keyboard operable for browsing through a large
number of images quickly. It is appropriate for command line usage as it
accepts directories and image filenames as arguments. It has an
in-application file browser that allows users to select and drag images
and directories into the image viewing area in order to have them
displayed.
Changes: The gimmage.desktop file was installed into the wrong directory
and did not include supported MIME types. In addition, this maintenance
release brings some code cleanups. If you are building from source, please
use "make uninstall" from the old source package to get rid of the wrongly

[030] - Mock Objects for C++ 1.16.0
by ewi (http://freshmeat.net/users/ewi/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 12:54
Software Development
About: mockpp is a platform-independent generic unit testing framework for
C++. Its goal is to facilitate developing unit tests and integration tests
in the spirit of Mock Objects, EasyMock, and jMock. It includes a slightly
modified version of CxxTest as a framework for flow control and analysis,
but also works with CppUnit or Boost.Test.
Changes: This release introduces a pair of applications that read your C++
classes from production code and generate a set of header and
implementation files with mock objects.

[032] - NeatUpload 1.2.18
by Dean Brettle (http://freshmeat.net/users/brettle/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 03:25
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries
About: NeatUpload allows ASP.NET developers to stream uploaded files to
disk and allows users to monitor upload progress. It works under Mono's
XSP/mod_mono as well as Microsoft's ASP.NET implementation and features
two custom controls. InputFile allows the user to select a file to upload
and ProgressBar displays the upload progress either inline or in a popup.
ProgressBar even allows users without JavaScript to see upload progress.
Changes: This version fixes a bug where using HttpResponse.TransmitFile()
could cause the entire transmitted file to be buffered in memory
temporarily, and a bug where the script elements produced by NeatUpload's
ProgressBar control were not XHTML compliant. The fix for the
TransmitFile() issue has the small side effect that sometimes responses
larger than 1MB are not buffered.

[035] - preccx 2.57
by Peter T. Breuer (http://freshmeat.net/users/ptb/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 23:00
Software Development :: Compilers
About: PRECC eXtended is an infinite-lookahead compiler-compiler for
languages with context-dependent grammars. The generated code is ANSI C
and ANSI C++; the code will compile and run natively under either C or
C++. Specification scripts are extended BNF with inherited and synthetic
attributes. Scripts can be compiled in separate modules and linked later.
Metalevel production rules are allowed in the scripts. The technology is
essentially LL(oo) with optimizations.
Changes: Production rule prototypes are allowed to be declared as needed
inline in a grammar script ("@foo(x,y)") instead of generating all the
necessary prototypes in a separate output file. Data
constructor/deconstructor notation was introduced for use in making and
consuming complicated data structures inside grammar rules ("+{foo}\x ...
-{bar(x)}").

[037] - RAJAX 1.5
by pmml (http://freshmeat.net/users/pmml/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 22:50
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: RAJAX is an approach to remove the repetitive code that coders need
to add for simple AJAX applications. AJAX code is generated from POJOs with
annotations (and with no configuration files). A simple MVC framework is
available totally based on the client side using XSLT to transform either
XML or JavaScript objects.
Changes: A Servlet dispatcher was added, so there is no need to declare
each bean as a servlet in web.xml. RAJAX objects are POJOs and can be
tested with JUnit without running a container. Nimble MVC now uses the
concept of the Observer pattern for event attaching and detaching. The
code for the XSLT processor on the server side when the browser cannot
handle the action locally was started.

[039] - Simple XML Framework 1.3.1
by Niall Gallagher (http://freshmeat.net/users/niallg/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 03:26
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: Simple is an XML serialization framework for Java. Its goal is to
provide an XML framework that enables rapid development of XML
configuration and communication systems. This framework aids the
development of XML systems with minimal effort and reduced errors. The
framework borrows ideas and concepts from existing XML tools such as C#
XML serialization and other proprietary frameworks, and combines those
ideas resulting in a simple yet extremely powerful tool for using and
manipulating XML.
Changes: Instance deserialization was added such that existing object
instances can be initialized by injecting deserialized objects from a
specified XML source. readResolve() and writeReplace() equivalents are not
supported for serializable objects.

[051] - Zero Install Injector 0.28
by Thomas Leonard (http://freshmeat.net/users/tal197/)
Sat, Jun 16th 2007 22:43
Internet
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Software Distribution
About: The Zero Install Injector makes it possible for users to install
software easily and without the need for root privileges. It takes the URL
of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the
program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to
the user's policy settings (eg. "stable", "testing", "minimal network use",
etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run,
using environment variables to let it find the components.
Changes: Integration with distribution packaging systems has been
improved: packages installed using apt-get can be considered as candidates
alongside the Zero Install versions. Adding support for other package
managers should be fairly simple. Alternatively, packaging systems can now
register their packages with Zero Install. The man command can now work
with Zero Install aliases. Various bugs were fixed.
