[001] - Apple Disk Transfer ProDOS 1.0.1
  by David Schmidt (http://freshmeat.net/users/david__schmidt/)
  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 00:07

Communications
System :: Archiving
System :: Emulators

About: ADTPro transfers disks to and from Apple II computers and the
modern world using any of these communications methods: serial/USB, UDP
via theA2RetroSystems Uthernet card, or audio via the Apple's cassette
ports. ADTPro has comprehensive bootstrapping support for otherwise
diskless Apples. The home page includes extensive tutorials for getting
started.

Changes: Support for the Laser 128 computer's slightly non-standard serial
port has been added. A few minor fixes from the initial release are
included as well: most significantly, formatting an otherwise blank 800k
floppy would result in an incorrect free block count.

About: aviManager helps you manage your (large) movie (DVD, DivX)
collection. It ships with an intelligent voting system for many users, and
attempts to find the best movie to watch. There is also a nice IMdb grabber
for fast movie adding.

Changes: This release fixes some minor bugs. IMDb grabber functionality
works again.

[003] - CacheGuard OS 4.1.0b
  by Afshin Tajvidi (http://freshmeat.net/users/tajflow/)
  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 07:50

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security

About: CacheGuard is a Linux-based operating system dedicated to Web
traffic control and optimization. It transforms an x86-based machine into
a powerful, Web gateway appliance. It allows you to secure Web traffic for
Web surfers and also Web servers (in reverse mode). It supports HTTP
transparent implementation, HTTP compression, Web caching, URL black- and
whitelists guarding, and Web server load balancing. It features a stateful
firewall with NAT and PAT. It integrates a caching DNS, a DHCP server, a
bandwidth shaper to manage the QoS, a load sharing system, and an HA (high
availability) mode with VRRP and link bonding.

Changes: The Web GUI security has been improved. A bug was corrected in
the Web GUI so native IP addresses could be setup properly. The "rweb"
VLAN is configurable using the Web GUI. The reverse mode is configurable
using the Web GUI. The keyword "confcert" was renamed to "genssl" (related
commands: "rweb" and "admin"). When an HTTPS reverse Web site is deleted,
the associated host list is erased only if no other external IP address is
associated with this HTTPS Web site.

About: Centre is a Web-based student information system. Centre has been
designed to address the most important needs of administrators, teachers,
support staff, parents, students, and clerical personnel. It also adds
many components not typically found in student information systems. Centre
boasts an intuitive interface to manage student demographic information,
perform complex scheduling, and manage student attendance, grades, and
eligibility. Centre greatly cuts down the time it takes to report to state
agencies and distribute student information to teachers, support staff, and
parents.

[006] - Cntlm 0.31
  by David Kubicek (http://freshmeat.net/users/mavey/)
  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 00:05

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security
System :: Networking

About: Cntlm is an authenticating HTTP proxy. It takes the address of your
proxies as a parameter and opens a listening socket, forwarding each
request to it (moving on in a circular list if the active parent proxy
stops working). Along the way, the forwarded connection is created anew
and authenticated or, if available, a previously cached connection is
reused to achieve higher efficiency and faster responses. When the chain
is set up, cntlm is to be used as the primary proxy in your applications.

Changes: Chunked encoding is now supported for HTTP/1.1 clients. A major
fix was made for FTP downloads.

[007] - ComicMaster 0053
  by Kumosan (http://freshmeat.net/users/kumosan/)
  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 06:31

Database
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: ComicMaster is a CBR/CBZ reader for comic archives. It is able to
open CBR and CBZ archives and display image contents. It allows you to add
and remove single images, reorder images, and rename images in archives. It
has some functionality to verify archives, and provides means to
conveniently sort archives in a different folder. Those features are
fairly well tested. It allows you to load a database plugin to manage
comics in a PostgreSQL database, and it allows you to add meta-information
in XML format to archives. The implementation of these features is
currently sketchy at best.

Changes: Though this release adds a few minor features, its focus is
definitely on a security fix. The internal database, which was introduced
in version 0050, was vulnerable to SQL injection attacks. This is fixed in
version 0053. This fix applies only to the internal database. The
PostgreSQL database plugin is still affected.

  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 07:38

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Contact Form is a Perl script that allows users to send you email
through a Web interface. It is designed to thwart spammers by not
allowing email to be sent to unknown addresses, or revealing the
addresses that it knows. In addition to this, it does not contain cross
site scripting vulnerabilities or allow arbitrary code to be run on the
host. It provides adequate information in the headers it sends to trace
spammers, can check the validity of all data before sending emails, and
features a customizable interface that allows for arbitrary fields.

Changes: A new spam prevention technique was added: a hidden trap field
that must be left blank to thwart automated submissions.

About: L7-filter is a packet classifier for Netfilter that identifies
packets based on application layer (OSI layer 7) data. This means that it
is able to classify packets as HTTP, FTP, Gnucleus, Kazaa, etc.,
regardless of ports. It complements existing matches that classify based
on port numbers, packet length, TOS bits, and so on. Combined with Linux
QoS, it allows for full layer 7 packet shaping.

Changes: The iptables and kernel patches were updated for Linux 2.6.20
through 2.6.22.

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
Utilities

About: MultiTail lets you view one or multiple files like the original
tail program. The difference is that it creates multiple windows on your
console (with ncurses). Merging of 2 or more log files is possible. It can
also use colors while displaying the log files (through regular
expressions) for faster recognition of what is important. It can also
filter lines (again with regular expressions). It has interactive menus
for editing given regular expressions and deleting and adding windows. One
can also have windows with the output of shell scripts and other software.
When viewing the output of external software, MultiTail can mimic the
functionality of tools like 'watch'.

Changes: Conversion of signal number to signal name was added. More
parameters were made configurable. Error messaging is now more uniform.
The -kS switch was added which, like sed, can select parts of strings to
keep. Scrolling in the scrollback menu was improved. Scrolling in a line
is now possible. A color scheme was added for acpitail. Several bugs were
fixed.

Software Development

About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server and desktop virtualization
system based on the X11 protocol. NX is an order of magnitude faster than
VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec. In addition,
NX translates and embeds the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols
into X/NX, enabling users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and
VNC sessions. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and X11proxying
agents implementing efficient compression and optimized transport of X11,
SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio and video over the
Internet.

Changes: This release, together with the new NX Node package, provides a
number of fixes for problems. Specifically, when an XDM session is
reconnected, it may be not possible to open new application windows
inside. NX Node may fail when trying to reconnect a VNC or RDP session
from or to different machines. The node sets the session display by
specifying the "unix" prefix.

Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting
Office/Business :: Groupware

About: Open Blue Lab is a modular ERP, built on a plugin architecture.
Each business domain (such as Groupware, Financial, HCM, PLM, or SCM) is
separated into subdomains which are implemented through plugins. This
architecture permits you to choose only the components that suit your
needs. Each plugin is certified Zero Code, configurable through a GUI, and
may be adapted through the UML models provided.

Changes: Minor feature enhancements. A "Transformation factor class" has
been added to the class diagram. This class serves to obtain a certain
quantity of products for another. For example, assume you are recording
boxes of a product A, and one box contains "X" products A. The
transformation factor will allow an action that will enable the user to
decrease the boxes quantity to directly get the corresponding quantity of
product A. It will also serve to enhance stock sheet calculation and to
start the production management aspect.

  Mon, Jul 9th 2007 06:29

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The OpenDBX library provides a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The function
library is written in the C programming language and aims at implementing
access to the native database interfaces efficiently via a thin
abstraction layer. It consists of a basic set of functions that are part
of all vendor database libraries and can be extended by additional
function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS SQL Server, MySQL,
Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are supported.

Changes: A C++ interface was added. Integration of the C++ interface was
also a good start to use a separate directory (/usr/include/opendbx/) for
the header files, including the new opendbx/api.hpp. The old odbx.h is
still available but only as a legacy file which includes the new

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: ServerKit helps developers quickly build efficient, scalable, and
uniformly configured, installed, and executed server programs (commonly
known as daemons) for Linux. A core server program handles configuration
parsing, database connection pool creation, and switching of users.
Application-specific shared object modules are loaded at runtime and
access the configuration data and database connection pools via simple
well-defined interfaces. A library that provides the server program with
most of its functionality, in addition to implementing a rich API for
quick module development, is included. The API includes abstraction of
thread pools, delayed work management using epoll, database connection
pools and querying, logging, queues, and heaps.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in the reader-writer lock atomic

Changes: The entire Twitter REST API is now covered. This library is more
complete and more in the Ruby style of coding than the "Twitter Gem"
project. The latter seems to provide a convenient command-line tool for
very basic Twitter REST API usages.
