Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale

About: Ah3 is an invoicing and inventory system for repair shops. It comes
configured for an auto repair shop but can be configured to handle any shop
with customers who have things to be repaired. It includes a customer and
vehicle database, the ability to generate invoices, and the ability to
track the repair history of a vehicle. It also tracks inventory, allowing
for parts with multiple vendors and costs and other information. Ah3 is
the successor to Autohouse II.

Changes: Entering new invoices has been fixed. Customer and Vehicle Entry
dialogs are more intuitive. The Invoice sample includes totals and sample
legalese at the bottom. The spec file has been fixed so that the default
XML file is put in the proper directory when the RPM is installed. Labor
and Parts entry dialogs have been fixed to enter new records and assign
them to the current work order.

Software Development

About: DrScheme is a graphical environment for developing programs using
the Scheme, MzScheme, and MrEd programming languages. DrScheme runs under
Windows 95/98/NT, MacOS, and Unix/X. DrScheme's features include source
text highlighting of syntax and run-time errors, support for multiple
levels of Scheme from beginner to advanced, an algebraic stepper for the
beginner language, interactive and graphical static analysis, a graphical
user interface (GUI) library, objects, threads, modules, exceptions,
TCP/IP, regular expressions, and filesystem support.

Changes: The debugger now works across multiple files and supports "step
over" and "step out" operations. The world.ss HtDP teachpack now exports
two add-line functions: one from image.ss and one for adding lines to
scenes. ProfessorJ now includes a language level between Intermediate and

[020] - DUMA 2.5.8
  by Hayati Ayguen (http://freshmeat.net/users/hayguen/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 16:55

Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Testing

About: DUMA (Detect Unintended Memory Access) stops your program on the
exact instruction that overruns (or underruns) a malloc() memory buffer.
GDB will then display the source-code line that causes the bug. It works
by using the virtual-memory hardware to create a red-zone at the border of
each buffer: touch that, and your program stops. It can catch formerly
impossible-to-catch overrun bugs. DUMA is a fork of Bruce Perens' Electric
Fence library.

Changes: Minor bugfixes for MinGW, Mac OS X and Windows in the test
environment. A new environment variable 'DUMA_REPORT_ALL_LEAKS' to avoid
many false leak reports in 'broken' environments. A new debug helper
function 'duma_alloc_return()'. The documentation/README have been

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Filters
Internet

About: DynaStop is a utility to examine IPv4 based addresses for Exim and
procmail for the purpose of filtering based upon patterns defined by the
administrator. This can be a pivotal factor in email filtering and server
load management, since dynamic IP addresses are typically used for
dial-up, DHCP, and DSL accounts. All of which have a designated mail
exchange server through which all outbound mail flows as defined with
many, if not most, large Internet service providers.

Changes: A nasty bug in the expression parser (malformed expressions) that
could cause an infinite recursive loop has been fixed. The example
configuration files have been updated to take extra precautions with
domains that end in .il (country TLDs) or similar that could lead to false
positives.

  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 08:56

Security
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: EDAcS collects, archives, and reports remote user connections for
security monitoring and investigations by using the RADIUS protocol (RFC
2866). EDAcS consists of two parts, the "edacsdb" database loader and the
"edacsweb" reporting CGIs. The two parts can be installed independent of
each other, and can reside on different systems. Both need connectivity to
Oracle as the backend database system, using Oracle OCI with libsqlora.

Changes: EDAcS was completely reworked. The CGI was changed from being
written in Perl to being written in C and suing DBD/DBI to Oracle
Instantclient (OCI) and libsqlora. Graph generation was redesinged from
using rrdtool to using direct GD image generation.

[028] - GNU ddrescue 1.6-pre2 (Development)
  by Antonio Diaz Diaz (http://freshmeat.net/users/ant_diaz/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 07:35

System :: Recovery Tools

About: GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file
or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue
data in case of read errors. GNU ddrescue does not truncate the output
file if not asked to. So, every time you run it on the same output file,
it tries to fill in the gaps. The basic operation of GNU ddrescue is fully
automatic. That is, you don't have to wait for an error, stop the program,
read the log, run it in reverse mode, etc. If you use the logfile feature
of GNU ddrescue, the data is rescued very efficiently (only the needed
blocks are read). Also you can interrupt the rescue at any time and resume
it later at the same point.

Changes: Support for sparse writes to the output file has been added.

[034] - Kirocker Music Display 3.4.1
  by Sebien (http://freshmeat.net/users/Sebien/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 09:45

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Kirocker is a Kicker applet that displays what you listen to in
Amarok. With this panel applet, you always know what you are listening to,
and can watch its cover and star rating: it is always visible. It allows
you to rate your music with one click: you can quickly change the number
of stars of your music from anywhere on your desktop. Finally, it let you
remotely control Amarok with one click from anywhere on your desktop: play
next or previous track, pause, play, and seek to another position in the
current track.

Changes: This release fixes an issue with big playlists where Kirocker
Music Display would hang up, act badly, or not respond. It also solves a
long-standing tedious crash. Kirocker Music Display should be rock solid
now.

[035] - LimeSurvey Stable 1.52
  by Carsten Schmitz (http://freshmeat.net/users/cronostitan/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 09:44

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: LimeSurvey (formerly PHPSurveyor) is a Web application that
interacts with MySQL or MSSQL to develop surveys, publish surveys, and
collect responses to surveys. Once a survey has been created, data can be
inserted into the survey either by a "pretty" public screen which presents
each question one at a time, or by a quick and nasty data entry screen. It
includes the capacity to generate individualized "tokens", so that
invitations can be issued to participants. It also has the capacity to set
conditions on whether questions will display (branching), numerous question
types, and a basic statistics function.

Changes: File extension checks were added in the template editor. New
question attributes were added to multiple short text questions. Lots of
security fixes were done regarding internal security, so upgrading is
highly recommended. Better guidance is provided during installation.
Complete Spanish and Polish translations were added.

economy or by evacuating all citizens with spaceships.

Changes: This release adds some nice features to the user interface. For
better planning, the range for selected buildings is shown around the

System :: Filesystems
System :: Recovery Tools

About: TSKmount is a Fuse filesystem written in Perl and based on The
Sleuth Kit tools. It is intended to provide an easy way to recover deleted
files over ext2, FAT, and NTFS filesystems.

Changes: An "enhance" option was added to the core to improve searching
for deleted files and to rework numeric inode creation. Official
documentation was added (man, html, docbook), and a spec file to build
binary RPM package was created.

[059] - ulxmlrpcpp 1.7.0
  by ewi (http://freshmeat.net/users/ewi/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 12:16

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: ulxmlrpcpp is a library to perform calls via XML-RPC in an object
oriented approach. It is possible to create both client and server
applications in multithreaded environments. Unlike other implementations,
it does not insist on HTTP for transportation, but might also accept other
ways (e.g. a simple serial line with a user-defined protocol). For HTTP as
a transportation protocol, the following features are supported: cookies,
SSL/TLS, proxy, SSL/TLS over a proxy, and chunked transfers. ulxmlrpcpp is
also able to transmit data faster with binary XML.

Changes: This release contains several fixes regarding SSL, timeout
handling, and code generation. There are now more possibilities to create
client and server code from sources as well as from introspection. The
documentation contains examples on how to use the generated files.

[066] - Zim 0.20
  by Jaap Karssenberg (http://freshmeat.net/users/pardus/)
  Sun, Aug 19th 2007 08:37

Information Management
Text Editors

About: Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor written in Gtk2-Perl It aims to bring
the concept of a wiki to your desktop. Every page is saved as a text file
with wiki markup. Pages can contain links to other pages, and are saved
automatically. Creating a new page is as easy as linking to a non-existing
page. Pages are ordered in a hierarchical structure that gives it the look
and feel of an outliner. This tool is intended to keep track of TODO lists
or to serve as a personal scratch book.

Changes: Among other fixes, a bug where zim would hang on "new link" on
some platforms was fixed, as well as a bug that could corrupt links on
"update link". New features are the option to control the look of a new
page through a template and to control the rendering of pages through a
simple kind of stylesheet. Support for slow filesystems was added. Other
improvements include better handling of formatting in the undo stack and
the addition of a "document root" setting to the repository.
