About: Achievo ATK is a PHP business framework. It is targeted at
developers who wish to focus on business logic instead of coding HTML. ATK
provides a complete framework that requires only small amounts of code to
get usable applications, while maintaining full flexibility. ATK has a
model driven approach, but is 100% customizable.

Changes: An XSS vulnerability was fixed. Several features have been added,
such as AJAX-based dialog support and several new attributes and
relationships. An Indonesian translation has been added. Several bugs have
been fixed.

[004] - Backup Manager 0.6.3
  by Alexis SUKRIEH (http://freshmeat.net/users/sukria/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 10:13

About: Backup Manager is a tool for generating archives easily. It is
designed for those who don't want an obfuscated tool for backing up their
system. It can make tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2, and zip archives, can perform
incremental backups, and can upload archives to remote hosts with FTP,
SSH, or RSYNC. It can be run in a parallel mode with different
configuration files. The configuration file is simple to understand. The
backup process can also be customized thanks to hook scripts.

Changes: This is the third bugfix version of the stable branch. It fixes a
security issue about a password disclosure that occurred during FTP
uploads.

Communications
System :: Filesystems
System :: Networking

About: ccgfs is a transport-agnostic FUSE filesystem. Transport is
arranged by helper programs, such as ssh. The PUSH transport mode acts
like a "reverse" NFS and makes it possible to export a filesystem from a
firewalled host without defeating the security model.

Changes: This version works with autoconf 2.59 and kernel versions down to
2.6.18. A mutex underflow has been fixed.

  by Luis Otávio (http://freshmeat.net/users/vuco/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 06:05

System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Filesystems

About: Chiron FS is a FUSE based filesystem that implements replication at
the filesystem level like RAID 1 does at the device level. The replicated
filesystem may be of any kind you want; the only requisite is that you
mount it. There is no need for special configuration files; the setup is
as simple as one mount command (or one line in fstab).

Changes: Various memory leaks were fixed. A bug in the mount procedure was
fixed and now we can use relative paths.

  by Claudio (http://freshmeat.net/users/sick_soul/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 07:36

Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: cmdftp is a tiny command line FTP client for Unix systems that
features shell-like functions, passive mode, local and remote transparent
modes, broken connection resumption, multiple and recursive file
transfers, auto-login, completion, and large file support.

Changes: This release mainly addresses long standing bugs, however some
new features are also available. Among these is a sensible performance
improvement for recursive transfers if the server supports the MLST
extension and automatic netrc skeleton generation for anonymous
auto-login.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules
System :: Boot
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions

About: Cobbler is a Linux provisioning server that supports PXE network
installation, virtualization (Xen and KVM), and reinstallations of running
Linux systems. The latter two features are enabled by a client side program
called ’koan’. Various features include DVD/rsync tree imports, integrated
yum repository mirroring, zeroconf discovery, advanced kickstart
templating, and remote installation logging. Cobbler supports RHEL4+,
Fedora Core 5+, and derivative distributions.

Changes: This release contains miscellaneous bugfixes for items in the
0.6.0 release, and also adds zeroconf support for automatic discovery of
boot servers when using koan. Koan also gains control over virtual network
bridging for both Xen and KVM. Init scripts have been improved to fix some
restart issues with logrotate.

  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 07:27

System :: Filesystems

About: Cromfs is a compressed read-only filesystem for Linux. Cromfs is
best at archiving gigabytes of big files that have a lot of redundancy. It
aims primarily at achieving a strong compression, even at the cost of
memory and CPU time resources. It uses the LZMA compression algorithm from
7-zip and block merging.

Changes: This release adds support for OpenMP, adds a ./configure script,
adds a feature to resume interrupted mkcromfs process, and addresses some
other performance issues.

  by jyujin (http://freshmeat.net/users/jyujin/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 14:09

System :: Boot :: Init

About: eINIT is an alternative init system. It's quite fast, since it can
potentially be used without the help of any scripting at all, but it is
still flexible and extremely modular. The focus is on speed and
parallelisation, mostly with embedded devices and low-downtime servers in
mind, and benchmarks do suggest that it's doing a fairly good job at that.
It compiles cleanly (and should thus work, provided someone writes
appropriate modules) on Linux, FreeBSD, and Darwin/Mac OS X.

[017] - Fama Instant Messenger 0.0.3
  by Mario Danic (http://freshmeat.net/users/pygi/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 14:10

Communications :: Chat

About: Fama IM is a project to build an easy to use, powerful instant
messaging software built on the Flexible Communications Framework,
Telepathy. The interface is text-based and built upon the ncurses library,
hence you run it in your favorite terminal emulator or directly in the
console.

Changes: This release improves connection reusing, fixes disconnect
problems that would sometimes cause segfaults, squashes a 'double ctrl+w'
bug that would cause a segfault, modifies the build system to allow
building only with ncursesw (ncurses isn't needed), and improves the log
command 'interface' to the user and adds a new "status" component to it.

[018] - FBZX 1.9
  by Raster (http://freshmeat.net/users/scostas/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 20:57

System :: Emulators

About: FBZX is another Sinclair Spectrum emulator for Linux, but with an
special feature: it works with the framebuffer, so it can work at full
speed and full screen. Its main features are extremely accurate emulation
of screen and sound (both speaker and AY-3-8912 sound chip), emulation of
joysticks (kempston, cursor, and Sinclair), and emulation of 48K (both
issue 2 and issue 3), classic 128K, Plus 2, and Plus 2A. It supports Z80
snapshot files (both loading and saving) and TAP files (allowing normal
loading or fast-speed loading).

Changes: The current mode (spectrum type, joystick...) is now stored and
is restored the next time the program is launched. This allows you to
close the emulator by clicking on the X button in the window bar. You may
now put the screen in "double scanline" mode. If the program can't gain
access to the sound, it will start without it instead of failing.

System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Fritz!Control allows you to monitor your FRITZ!Box devices,
provided they export their signal data to /proc/avalanche. Basically, this
does the same as the JavaScript code in the Web interface, but much better.
It will provide you with a history so that you can see how high a carrier
has gotten since you started monitoring. It also colors the bars relative
to the delta to the maximum value, so you can easily spot where carriers
are not stable. The tool has built in cursor functionality, so you can
move over any carrier with your mouse and it will show the exact value in
the status bar.

[027] - JLaunchPad 1.0.0
  by Alexander Shvets (http://freshmeat.net/users/shvets/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 10:25

About: JLaunchPad is a way of launching Java programs. The idea is to
separate tightly coupled dependency management (as it exists in Maven2)
and combine it with an advanced classloader. For programs with many
dependencies (glean, Grails, etc.), this saves a lot of time and
resources.

[044] - ProGuard 3.10
  by Eric Lafortune (http://freshmeat.net/users/lafortune/)
  Thu, Aug 30th 2007 13:52

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Code Generators

About: ProGuard is a free Java class file shrinker, optimizer, and
obfuscator. It can detect and remove unused classes, fields, methods, and
attributes. It can then optimize bytecode and remove unused instructions.
Finally, it can rename the remaining classes, fields, and methods using
short meaningless names. The resulting jars are more compact and more
difficult to reverse-engineer. Advantages of ProGuard compared to other
Java shrinkers and obfuscators are compact template-based configuration,
memory efficiency, and speed.

Changes: This version fixes minor problems. It accepts mixed-case input
class names when -dontusemixedcaseclassnames is specified. The
optimization step now handles some special constructs compiled by the
Eclipse compiler, and switch statements with unreachable cases.
Identically named resource files are no longer merged in the output. The
documentation and examples have been updated.

About: Seismic Toolkit is a tool for processing and displaying seismic
signal data in a graphical interface. It reads seismic signals in SAC
format, and provides a variety of signal processing, such as filtering,
spectral analysis, polarisation analysis, time-frequency representation,
Hilbert transform, and singular value decomposition. Some utilities are
included for useful seismological applications, like computation of
Seismic Moment Mo, Mantle magnitude Mm and Moment magnitude Mw, MTPA
spectral analysis, plotting focal mechanisms, computation (and plotting)
of instrumental response from poles and zeros, and some usefull GMT
(Generic Mapping Tool) scripts for plotting signals, responses, and
time-frequency in Postscript files for high quality prints.

Changes: In STK, a very small bug was corrected in the
CallBackFile_Selection_Ascii() function which was not storing the path to
the selected directory of a signal in SAC_ASCII. The Windows executable is
now compiled with optimized code via the -O2 option. In Mwp, the function
test-null_channel() was added to avoid processing of signals with null
