Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Testing

About: AppFuse is an application for "kickstarting" Web application
development. It allows you to execute a single ant task to create a
skeleton application based on Struts, Spring, and Hibernate running on
Tomcat and MySQL. It uses Ant, XDoclet, Spring, Hibernate (or iBATIS),
JUnit, jMock, StrutsTestCase, Canoo's WebTest, Struts Menu, Display Tag
Library, OSCache, JSTL, and Struts. (Spring MVC, WebWork, Tapestry and JSF
are also options.)

Database :: API
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: aurora framework is a slim modular MVC framework written in PHP
5.2+ for rapid development of Web or console applications featuring an
integrated database API, template logic, pretty URLs,
internationalization, caching, data models, and a multi-layered file tree.

Changes: This release has autogenerated-m2m-tables, improved
branch-rendering in templates, some new filters, better localization, a
simple benchmark function, code cleanup, and the first usable version of
the console helper.

[003] - Auto Project Planner 1.1.0.2
  by don.didi (http://freshmeat.net/users/dondidi/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 09:39

Office/Business
Office/Business :: CRM
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: Auto Project Planner automatically calculates a proper project plan
based on your effort estimations and the due dates you have in mind. A list
of tasks and a list of employees can be defined. Tasks can be assigned to
one or more employees. It is also possible to define a maximum percentage
value an employee can/should work on a task. Public holidays, leaves,
weekly working hours, and more parameters can be specified and are
considered in the calculation. According to this input, the software
computes time plans by minimizing the MSE (mean squared error) between
expected and computed end dates.

Changes: Bugs in the user interface have been fixed (validation of
predecessors, acceptance of values in the Skilled Workers Productivity and
Training Time fields).

[004] - axTLS 1.1.7
  by Cameron Rich (http://freshmeat.net/users/cameronrich/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 09:32

About: axTLS is a highly configurable client/server TLSv1 SSL library
designed for embedded platforms. It comes with a small HTTPS server and
additional test tools. It features a very small footprint, use of TLSv1
(an improvement on SSLv3), session resumption, AES128/AES256 (as well as
RC4), portability across many systems, variable RSA key sizes, a very
simple API, peer client/server verification, certificate chaining, session
renegotiation, highly configurable compile-time options, and interfaces for
C#, VB.NET, Java, and Perl. It also implements a Web server.

Changes: Memory requirements are now lower. axhttpd CGI post now works
properly (as do CSS files). Variable length session IDs are supported.
Verisign root certificates are now supported (via MD2).

About: burnCDDA is a console frontend to cdrdao, cdrecord, MPlayer,
mpg321, oggdec, mppdec, flac, normalize, and mp3_check. It can be used to
create audio CDs from an M3U playlist (the playlist format of XMMS and
amaroK) or from files inside a directory. It supports MP3, OGG Vorbis,
Musepack, FLAC, WMA, M4A, and WAV files, and it might be the easiest way
to copy an audio CD.

Changes: A setup menu was added. The code was reviewed and reordered.
Several bugs were fixed, and install.sh was improved.

[007] - Chiron FS 1.0RC8
  by Luis Otávio Furquim (http://freshmeat.net/users/vuco/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 02:18

System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Filesystems

About: Chiron FS is a FUSE based filesystem that implements replication at
the filesystem level like RAID 1 does at the device level. The replicated
filesystem may be of any kind you want; the only requisite is that you
mount it. There is no need for special configuration files; the setup is
as simple as one mount command (or one line in fstab).

Changes: This release changed hash table functions and sizing and improved
range checks. ulimit handling was improved. An incorrect error message was
fixed and more detailed error messages were provided. A bug where a chunk
of memory was being freed two times when, in mount time, the user supplied
an inexistent replica path was fixed. The howto was updated.

[008] - COllaborative DEvelopment SHell 0.8.1
  by Trump Coup (http://freshmeat.net/users/bourilkov/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 23:28

About: The CODESH (COllaborative DEvelopment SHell) project provides an
automatic persistent logbook for sessions of personal command line work
by recording what and how is being done, for private use/reuse and for
sharing selected parts with collaborators. It is an intelligent shell
that automatically logs a user's command line (shell) session: commands,
scripts executed, output produced, changes to environment variables, alias
creation, and other information needed to recreate the session later.
Sessions are uniquely tagged and stored in local or distributed backend
repositories (flat file - ASCII - or CVS based) and can be extracted and
reproduced at any time by the user who created the session or by
collaborators located anywhere in the world.

Changes: This release introduces a new and expandable test suite for
automatic testing of the basic functionality of codesh. Passing all tests
is a precondition for making new releases public. The tests serve a dual
purpose as examples of using codesh in different modes of operation. The
protection of codesh commands when using tags with the ASCII backend has
been improved. Non-existent tags are detected automatically and feedback
is provided to the user.

  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 02:33

About: Conflict notifies a software developer of potential conflicts
between his/her work and that of other developers before the commit. A
transparent process runs on the workstation of each developer, reporting
local file system changes to the Conflict server. When the Conflict server
detects a conflict between two or more developers, each developer is
notified. The Conflict project improves feedback and communication while
encouraging developers to check in code frequently.

[011] - Daikon 4.3.3
  by Jeff Perkins (http://freshmeat.net/users/jhpnez/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 23:23

Documentation
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: Daikon is an implementation of dynamic detection of likely
invariants. An invariant is a property (such as "x=2*y+5" or
"this.next.prev = this" or "myarray is sorted by <") that holds at a
certain point or points in a program. Invariants are often seen in assert
statements, documentation, and formal specifications. Invariants can be
useful in program understanding and a host of other applications. Daikon
runs a program, observes the values that the program computes, and then
reports properties that were true over the observed executions. It can
detect properties in Java, C, C++, Perl, and IOA programs, in spreadsheet
files, and in other data sources.

Changes: A number of problems with building Daikon on Windows were
resolved. Daikon now builds correctly with Cygwin. The installation and
build instructions were updated.

  by Andreas Neuper (http://freshmeat.net/users/aneuper/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 23:33

System :: Filesystems
System :: Systems Administration
Utilities

About: Freedup eliminates duplicate files using links and thus reduces the
amount of used disk space within one or more file systems. Freedup searches
all provided file system trees for identical files and links them together.
If the devices differ, a symbolic link is used, otherwise a hard link by
default. Many options allow you to modify the file comparison, the linking
behavior, and the output. The input is either taken from external pipe
input or from an internally generated pipe using find.

Changes: Options were added to support quiet runs (-q) and to avoid
linking empty files (-0). Both new options are mentioned in the man page
and program help. For the -0 option, test7 was added. A bug concerning
relinking symbolic links was discovered and removed. Despite frequent
testing, no further bugs were found. The release is now marked as stable.
The minimum release number is now 1 instead of 0. The file naming
conventions changed to provide better compatibility with Cygwin
requirements.

About: Method Support is a system for quickly producing process support
Web sites. It simplifies the process by requiring the administrator to
just provide a "schema" file describing the forms and the workflow that
define the process. The administrator can then generate the entire site by
running a single command line. Method Support is a program for supporting
procedures by defining online forms, equivalent to a set of paper forms.
The emphasis of this approach is to make it easy to set up forms and to
modify the forms over time.

Database :: Front-Ends

About: MyJgui is a graphical user interface for MySQL. It aims to be easy
to use for new users as well as experts. You can store multiple
connections that can be used simultaneously. Stored passwords are
encrypted using symmetric encryption. Underlying databases and tables are
displayed in a tree structure with the connections being the first level
nodes. MyJgui is capable of easy data manipulation through a grid. It has
a unique feature of bookmarking parametrical queries (sqlmarks). The
documentation (user guide) is quite comprehensive and kept up-to-date.

Changes: You can now either select the text to be executed as a query, or
simply run the line the cursor is at. New options were added in the
preferences. You can set or change your default limit for the Content tab
of tables and set which tab will be shown after selecting the table in the
tree.

System :: Monitoring

About: tenshi (formerly wasabi) is a log monitoring program designed to
watch a log file for lines matching user defined regular expressions and
report on the matches. The regular expressions are assigned to queues that
have an alert interval and a list of mail recipients. Queues can be set to
send a notification as soon as there is a log line assigned to them, or to
send periodic reports. Additionally, uninteresting fields in the log lines
(such as PID numbers) can be masked with the standard regular expression
grouping operators ( ). This allows cleaner and more readable reports. All
reports are separated by hostname and all messages are condensed when
possible.

[052] - x11vnc 0.9.3
  by Karl Runge (http://freshmeat.net/users/runge/)
  Thu, Oct 4th 2007 13:35

Communications :: Conferencing
Desktop Environment :: Tools
System :: Monitoring

About: x11vnc is a program that allows one to remotely view and interact
with real X displays (i.e. a display corresponding to a physical
monitor, keyboard, and mouse) with any VNC viewer. It is similar to
WinVNC and is designed to be compatible with all Unix variants and
depend on a very small set of standard libraries. It supports a growing
number of command line options, such as -nofb for dual- headed mode with
Win2VNC. It is part of the LibVNCServer project.

Changes: This release provides client-side caching to improve interactive
response. Almost no VNC viewers implement caching, which is why VNC is
slow compared to other remote graphics protocols. To enable it, supply
"-ncache n" to x11vnc, where the number n indicates how much memory to
devote to the caching scheme. The x11vnc caching will work with any VNC
viewer, but they will not hide the pixmap cache region that is below the
main desktop (one must adjust the window size manually). However, the Unix
VNC viewer of the SSVNC project will automatically detect and hide the
region.
