Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Software Development :: Bug Tracking
About: AgileTrack is an agile development planning and iteration tracking
tool. It assists in the creation and life-cycle of iterations, projects,
stories, tasks, and bugs. It is focused on simplicity and practicality.
Its interface is designed to be useful specifically for software
developers on small development teams with rapidly-changing priorities and
requirements. Its primary interface for developers is geared toward
availability, speed, and purpose. It is flexible and minimalistic with
respect to the data that is required for records. It is designed to be
compatible with agile development methodologies, particularly Extreme
Programming.
Changes: This release focuses on improving the UI without altering the
data structures so as to continue to be backwards compatible with the
current 1.1.x releases. Keyboard shortcuts are available for common
actions and navigation. The "Home" tab has been completely revamped. The
time logging interface is improved. A UI has been added to manage
available project and issue states. A tree view of issues is shown in
iterations. Time/date formatting can be customized across the application.
JFreeCharts is used for chart rendering. Various bugfixes have been made.

Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: aria2 is a utility for downloading files. It has completely new
design concept from its predecessor, Aria, and is written from scratch.
aria2 has a segmented downloading engine in its core. It can download one
file from multiple URLs or multiple connections from one URL. This results
in very high speed downloading, much faster than ordinary browsers. This
engine in was implemented in a single-thread model. The architecture is
clean and easy to extend. aria2 currently supports HTTP, FTP, and
BitTorrent. It also supports Metalink version 3.0.
Changes: This release adds a Dutch translation and fixes several bugs. The
file preallocation is now enabled by default.

[006] - bftpd 2.0.3 (Development)
by Slicer (http://freshmeat.net/users/slicer/)
Sun, Oct 28th 2007 17:07
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
About: bftpd is a very configurable Linux FTP server which can do chroot
without special configuration or directory preparation. It will work
out-of-the-box with almost no configuration required, and works on all
Unix variants tested. Most FTP commands are supported, and user
authentication is done via passwd/shadow or PAM. tar/gzip on-the-fly is
supported.
Changes: A minor bug was found and fixed that caused bftpd to not compile
on some 64-bit systems. Also, if bftpd cannot detect on what kind of
machine it is compiling, it assumes little-endian, which should be fine
for most home and small business setups.

Sun, Oct 28th 2007 23:41
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: collectd is a small and modular daemon which collects system
information periodically and provides means to store the values. Included
in the distribution are numerous plug-ins for collecting CPU, disk, and
memory usage, network interface and DNS traffic, network latency, database
statistics, and much more. Custom statistics can easily be added in a
number of ways, including execution of arbitrary programs and plug-ins
written in Perl. Advanced features include a powerful network code to
collect statistics for entire setups and SNMP integration to query network
equipment.
Changes: Plugins have been added to query statistics from ipvs, memcached,
and nginx. Another new plugin counts the number of TCP connections to or
from a specific port. The possibility to split up the configuration into
multiple files has been added in form of the new "Include" configuration
option. The Perl plugin has been improved a lot; most notably, the
"EnableDebugger" option was added, which makes it easier to debug plugins
written in Perl. The SNMP plugin has been extended to handle more complex
scenarios, for example, by scaling values.

System :: Archiving :: Backup
Utilities
About: mylvmbackup is a Perl script for quickly creating backups of a
MySQL server's data files. To perform a backup, mylvmbackup obtains a read
lock on all tables and flushes all server caches to disk, makes an LVM
snapshot of the volume containing the MySQL data directory, and unlocks
the tables again. The snapshot process takes only a small amount of time.
When it is done, the server can continue normal operations while the
actual file backup proceeds.
Changes: A new rsync backup type was added. Support for a trailing
argument was added to tar. The suffix of the tarball was separated out. A
temporary suffix is used at the end of the backup file name while the
backup is performed. The my.cnf configuration file is now included in the
backup. The ability to run an extra FLUSH TABLES on busy databases was
added. The "--pidfile" option was added to provide an alternative PID file
location. The output of "lvs <snapshot>" is now printed out for
diagnostics. The "--skip-flush-tables" option was added.

Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: ServingXML is a markup language for expressing XML pipelines and an
extensible Java framework for defining the elements of the language. It
defines a vocabulary for expressing flat-XML, XML-flat, flat-flat, and
XML-XML transformations in pipelines. The accompanying console app
supports reading content as XML files, flat files, SQL queries, or SAX
events, and writing it as XML, HTML, PDF, or mail attachments. This
software is especially suited for converting flat file or database records
to XML, with its support for namespaces, variant record types, multi-valued
fields, segments and repeating groups, hierarchical grouping of records,
and row-by-row validation with XML Schema. There is also an API for
embedding the software in a Java application.
Changes: This release comes bundled with Saxon-B 8.9.0.4 for an XSLT 2
implementation. XML-to-flat transformation has been enhanced. A new
sx:wrap element allows extracting a set of subtrees from an XML stream and
wrapping them in containing tags. A new sx:recordAggregator element allows
aggregating physical records into logical records, using test expressions
on adjacent records.

intake has dropped from over a hundred messages a day to about 5. It uses
the Sqlite database library as a backend.
Changes: This version has finally fixed that horrible

[059] - wwlisp 8.2.2
by Walther Waeles (http://freshmeat.net/users/waltherwaeles/)
Sun, Oct 28th 2007 08:36
About: wwlisp is an interpreted programming language for application
development and scripting that can be used for developing stand-alone
programs, developing shell scripts, or embedded in another program. It is
a concise object-oriented dialect of the Lisp language very loosely
inspired by Common Lisp, Smalltalk, or even C++. It aims at solving
specific categories of problems, so the implementation does not comprise
mechanisms intended to treat all the types of data traditional in LISP, or
to implement theoretical concepts of software engineering or facilities
dedicated to the management of large projects.

Changes: A remote denial of service (DoS) has been fixed, which was caused
by an off-by-one error in the login sequence, and could lead to a server
crash. Other bugs have been fixed in the SSL/TLS code, and compatibility
