[001] - AjaXplorer 2.2
  by Charles du Jeu (http://freshmeat.net/users/cdujeu/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:02

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Office/Business :: Groupware

About: AjaXplorer is an easy-to-install file explorer for remotely
managing files on a Web server. Its rich GUI makes it accessible to any
end-user. Its main features are common file actions (uploading,
downloading, moving, renaming, etc.), online file editing, image preview,
a bookmarks system, and more. It requires PHP to run and FTP access only
for installation.

Changes: This release adds user management. The administrator can give
read and/or write access for each user and each repository, users can save
their own preferences (for the moment language and display mode), and a
guest user can be enabled. There are minor bugfixes and look and feel
enhancements, as well as i18n (French language support is fully
functional) and upgraded libraries (prototype and scriptaculous).

[002] - Apache Cayenne 3.0M2 (Development)
  by Aristedes Maniatis (http://freshmeat.net/users/aristedes/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:22

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Apache Cayenne is a persistence framework that provides
object-relational mapping (ORM) and remoting services. It has a wealth of
unique and powerful features and can address a wide range of persistence
needs. Cayenne seamlessly binds one or more database schemas directly to
Java objects, managing atomic commit and rollbacks, SQL generation, joins,
sequences, and more. With Cayenne's Remote Object Persistence, those Java
objects can even be persisted out to clients via Web Services. With native
XML serialization, objects can be even further persisted to non-Java
clients.

Changes: This release contains many new features, such as full EJBQL
syntax (delete, update, select, aggregate queries, subqueries, etc.),
greatly improved lifecycle callbacks (no need to wrap the DataContext or
enable callbacks explicitly), to-many relationships mapped as sets and
maps (with Modeler support), a CayenneModeler search function, an adapter
for SQLite, and much more.

  by aquamaniac (http://freshmeat.net/users/aquamaniac/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:21

Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries

About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX DirectConnect, YellowNet, GeldKarte, and DTAUS discs are currently
supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney,and QBankManager.

Changes: This release introduces workarounds for common server problems.
It is the second candidate for a stable release.

[004] - Automated Testing Framework 0.3
  by Julio M. Merino Vidal (http://freshmeat.net/users/jmmv/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:26

Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: ATF is a collection of libraries and utilities designed to ease
unattended application testing in the hands of developers and end users of
a specific piece of software. Tests can currently be written in C/C++ or
POSIX shell and, contrary to other testing frameworks, ATF tests are
installed into the system alongside any other application files. This
allows the end user to easily verify that the software behaves correctly
on her system. Furthermore, the results of the test suites can be
collected into nicely-formatted reports to simplify their visualization
and analysis.

Changes: This release adds XML output support for atf-report. atf-run has
been changed to include generic system information in the reports it
generates, which is useful for later inspection of test logs on remote
machines. The 'isolated' property has been removed from test cases, as it
has become useless and problematic. atf-report's CSV output format has
been extended to include details about test programs. ATF tests have been
fixed to not require atf-compile where it is not strictly necessary. There
are many general cleanups.

[005] - avidemux 2.4 Preview3 (Development)
  by mean99 (http://freshmeat.net/users/mean99/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 05:34

Multimedia :: Video :: Non-Linear Editor

About: Avidemux is a graphical tool to edit videos. It can open AVI,
openDML, MPEG, Nuppelvideo, and BMPs. Most common codecs are supported
(M-JPEG, MPEG, DivX, Xvid, huffyuv, WMA, etc.) thanks to libavcodec and
libmpeg2. Video can be edited, cut, appended, filtered
(resize/crop/denoise), and re-encoded to either AVI (MPEG4/MJPEG) or MPEG
1/2. The Spidermonkey Javascript engine is used to give powerful scripting
capabilities.

Changes: The Qt4 GUI version has been vastly improved. Support for Mac OS
X (Intel) is much better. Support for FLV/iPod and MKV has been added.

  by Lev_Arris (http://freshmeat.net/users/LevArris/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 13:56

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Bacula is a set of programs that allow you to manage the backup,
recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of different
computers. It is based on a client/server architecture and is efficient
and relatively easy to use, while offering many advanced storage
management features that make it easy to find and recover lost or damaged
files.

Changes: This release fixes the SQL insert loop that could ensue during a
Verify Job with a missing file. Restores no longer cause Media.LastWritten
to be updated. The close button for the tray monitor works again. A bat
crash when it could not connect to Director, a joblist failure in bat, and
some minor other issues have been fixed.

  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 06:34

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: The Baldrick Application Framework is a library of Perl 5 modules
to provide Web application functionality: session management,
URL-to-handler mapping, user loading, authentication and authorization,
database connectivity and querying, and template-based output generation.
It is a tool for programmers to use in building their own Web applications
("modules"), which can run under CGI or mod_perl. Users on a site should be
able to freely move between modules without re-authenticating, even if
those modules were from different developers.

Changes: Baldrick::TemplateAdapter::TextTemplate (which uses
Text::Template) was added. Baldrick::Examples::ExampleDogsbody was added.
Minor changes were made in App to allow for a minimalist configuration
file and easier "Hello World" demo. Dogsbody dispatchRequest() was
modified to avoid stringy eval. baldrick.cfg.sample was added to the
distribution. userloader.cfg.sample was added to the distribution.
Makefile.PL was made interactive, prompting to install in the cgi-bin
directory.

[009] - Berkeley Unified Parallel C 2.6.0
  by Dan Bonachea (http://freshmeat.net/users/bonachea/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 05:33

Software Development :: Compilers
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks

About: Unified Parallel C (UPC) is an extension of the C programming
language designed for high performance computing on large-scale parallel
machines. The language provides a uniform programming model for both
shared and distributed memory hardware. The programmer is presented with a
single shared, partitioned address space, where variables may be directly
read and written by any processor, but each variable is physically
associated with a single processor. UPC uses a Single Program Multiple
Data (SPMD) model of computation in which the amount of parallelism is
fixed at program startup time, typically with a single thread of execution
per processor. Berkeley UPC provides a portable, high-performance compiler
for developing UPC software on systems ranging from clusters to custom
supercomputers and even laptop-grade systems.

Changes: Mac OS X 10.5 binaries are now available. A multiconf build
manager now provides easy access to debug and opt from the upcc command
line. lapi-conduit now uses RDMA support to improve performance. Data
movement collectives now use a scalable, high-performance implementation.
The portals network is now fully native. Pthreads support was added on
CNL. Local put/get operations for GCCUPC+UPCR are fully inline. Native
support was added for OpenIB via the new "ibv" network. The software was
ported to CrayXT/Linux, SunC/Linux, OpenBSD/x86. upcrun options for
backtracing and freezing were added. Numerous miscellaneous fixes were
made.

About: Ibis is an efficient and flexible Java-based programming
environment for Grid computing, in particular for distributed
supercomputing applications. It boosts RMI performance using several
optimizations, especially to avoid the high overhead of runtime type
inspection that current RMI implementations have. It therefore comes with
a highly efficient serialization implementation. The project also
addresses the lack of expressiveness of Java RMI, which provides only
synchronous client-server communication.

Changes: This release brings many new features. The interface is updated
to Java 1.5, many bugs were fixed, and the SmartSockets library is now
used to communicate through firewalls and circumvent NAT problems.

[033] - Java SQL Admin Tool 2.4.2
  by Fredy Fischer (http://freshmeat.net/users/afs/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 06:30

Database
Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development

About: Admin is entirely written in Java. It uses Swing GUI Components and
JDBC to connect to databases. It has been succesfully tested with MySQL,
InstantDB, Oracle, Empress, and PostgreSQL. You can have a tree view of
the RDBMS or pick a single instance to have a look at its metadata. It
allows you to create, modify, and drop tables and to create indices on a
table. The dynamic form makes it easy to enter data into a certain table,
and the guided query makes it easy to retrieve data from a table and to
export it. Java developers will probably enjoy the code generator doing an
OO relational wrapper and a swing GUI for them. You can also export and
import data and transport it from one DBMS to another.

Changes: This version has a new tool, called Data Selection. This tool was
initially developed to allow complex data selections for users not knowing
much about RDBMS and Joins and other such complicated things in the world
of databases. This tool has been in production for three years. SQLAdmin
can now also be launched via Java Webstart.

About: KAlarm lets you configure personal messages to be displayed,
commands to be executed, or emails to be sent, at scheduled times. It
allows you to choose the message font and color, how often to repeat,
whether to display an advance reminder, whether to speak the message or
play a sound when it is displayed, and whether to cancel the alarm if it
can't be triggered on time (e.g. if you are logged out at the time). As
well as using the graphical interface to configure alarms, you can use the
command line, and there is a DCOP interface for other applications.

Changes: The alarm editing interface is improved, and an option has been
added for generating alarm text from a command. This release includes
fixes for major bugs: hanging up at startup, recurring date-only alarms

[054] - Qtractor 0.0.8.762
  by Rui Nuno Capela (http://freshmeat.net/users/rncbc/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:05

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Qtractor is an Audio/MIDI multi-track sequencer application. The
initial target platform is Linux, using the infrastructure of the Jack
Audio Connection Kit (JACK) for audio and the Advanced Linux Sound
Architecture (ALSA) for MIDI. It is meant to be a fairly-featured Linux
desktop audio workstation GUI, specially dedicated to the personal home
studio.

Changes: Audio buses pass-through has been implemented, now being a common
and consistent option of both audio and MIDI buses, provided those are set
in duplex mode. Omni-mode is introduced as a new MIDI track property,
allowing all MIDI channel events to be captured unfiltered. A subtle crash
issued when invoking the bus dialog with a double-click over the
corresponding mixer bus strip was fixed. Changing mixer bus gain (volume)
and panning values is now gang-free, overcoming a recent feature
enhancement mistake. Some transport tool icons have been retouched.

[056] - RKWard 0.4.8a
  by Thomas Friedrichsmeier (http://freshmeat.net/users/tfry/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 14:01

Office/Business
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: RKWard aims to provide an easily extensible, easy to use IDE/GUI
for the R project. RKWard strives to combine the power of the R language
with the (relative) ease of use of commercial statistical packages. While
RKWard is far from finished, it is already useful as an IDE interface to
the R language.

Changes: Several bugs were fixed in this release. Most importantly, labels
entered in the data editor are displayed correctly again, and the C stack
checking mechanism was made more reliable on some platforms.

[057] - RWSecure 0.5
  by R. Walz (http://freshmeat.net/users/rwalz/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 13:59

Security

About: RWSecure parses the /var/log/secure (or specified secure log) file
for invalid usernames or failed passwords. If more than a specified number
of invalid or failed attempts are made by one IP, indicating a brute force
attack, it will add that IP to your /etc/hosts.deny file by default.

Changes: This release fixes a minor bug regarding how rwsecure adds
information to the hosts.deny file. If you currently use rwsecure, it is
recommended that you erase your current /etc/hosts.deny file (make sure it
still exists, but that is empty). There are no other changes in this
release.

[058] - setuptools_git 0.3.1
  by Yannick Gingras (http://freshmeat.net/users/ygingras/)
  Sun, Nov 11th 2007 19:34

Software Development :: Version Control

About: setuptools_git is a plugin for Setuptools that enables Git
integration. Once installed, Setuptools can be told to include in a module
distribution all the files tracked by git. This is an alternative to
explicit inclusion specifications with MANIFEST.in. This package was
formerly known as gitlsfiles. The name change is the result of an effort
by the setuptools plugin developers to provide a uniform naming
convention.

Changes: The documentation was greatly improved, and the code was made
more portable.
