[001] - Abacus Formula Compiler 1.0.1
  by Peter Arrenbrecht (http://freshmeat.net/users/peo1306/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 14:01

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The Abacus Formula Compiler (AFC) compiles computations defined in
spreadsheet files directly to Java byte code. Users can thus customize an
application using Excel or OpenOffice Calc. AFC compiles against your own
Java interfaces to obtain input values and compute output values (it
essentially generates strategy implementations for you), and supports
internal computations with either double or BigDecimal (for financial
applications).

[002] - AgileWiki 0.10.2 (COODBMS)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 14:33

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Operation access control is now in place, providing different
sets of operations to different groups of users. It is fully configurable
and extensible, and you can define new operations, operation sets, and
user groups. The initial configuration allows guests to create their own
accounts and for admins to set the passwords for other accounts. Logins
are controlled by a single database and tokens are issued for subsequent
access and for access to other databases on the same server.

[003] - Avian 0.0.1
  by Joel Dice (http://freshmeat.net/users/dicej/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 04:32

Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Avian is a lightweight virtual machine and class library, both
written from scratch to provide a useful subset of Java's features. It's
well-suited to cross-platform applications which need a typesafe language
but must remain small and self-contained.

Changes: This release fixes the algorithm responsible for static stack
analysis to determine where the object references are on the stack for
garbage collection. The old version gave false positives in rare cases,
leading to a crash when garbage collecting.

[005] - Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript 2008-03-08
  by Terry Burton (http://freshmeat.net/users/terryburton/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 16:07

Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: A bug in the treatment of the human readable text when using
special text alignment with Code 128C was fixed.

  by SJ (http://freshmeat.net/users/hcoder/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 04:31

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: clapf is an email content filter application. It includes a
statistical (inverse chi-square) anti-spam module, interfaces to several
anti-virus products, a minefield (blackhole), spam quarantine, support for
various RBL lists, training utilities, and much more. It can be used as an

  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 14:13

Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: POP3
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: Domain Technologie Control (DTC) is a Web-based control panel for
hosting that can delegate the task of creating subdomains, email, and FTP
accounts to users for the domain names they own. It has support for many
programs, including bind 8 and 9, MySQL, Apache, PHP 4, qmail, Postfix,
Courier, Dovecot, ProFTPD, Webalizer, and mod-log-sql. It can also
generate backup scripts, calculation scripts, and config files using a
single system UID/GID, and monitor all traffic accounting per user and per
service. It is fully skinnable and translated into several languages.

Changes: This version adds support for dkimproxy instead of dkfilter
(which supports both domain keys and DKIM). Some fixes were made for
gentoo and Mac OS X. Lots of translation work was done. Many minor bugs
were fixed.

Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
Text Processing :: Markup :: DocBook
Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML

About: EditiX is a cross-platform and multi-purpose XML editor and XSLT
debugger (1.0 and 2.0), which helps Web authors and programmers use XML
and XML-related technologies, such as XSLT, FO, and XSD schemas. It
provides a lot of functionality within a refined IDE, which guides the
user with intelligent entry helpers, and has real-time XPath location and
syntax error detection. It allows the user to apply an XSLT or FO
transformation, and shows the result in a separate view. It includes
default templates for XML, DTD, XHTML, XSLT, XSD, XML RelaxNG, SVG,
MathML, and XML FO. It can generate schema W3C, DTD or RelaxNG from a
document instance.

Changes: This service pack includes an XSLT profiler and fixes various
problems with the XSLT debugger. Users can transform an XSL-FO document
from an XSLT action, all in one operation. Actions were added for nodes
for duplicating the previous/next sibling node. This release also fixes
dozen of bugs and improves global performance.

[015] - Grapple 0.9.2
  by Michael Simms (http://freshmeat.net/users/lgpmichael/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 04:32

Communications
Internet
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Grapple is designed to be a simple network layer, allowing the
addition of multiuser features to an application for as little as a dozen
lines of code. However, it also allows for more. It features simple
client-server networking that keeps all clients aware of all other
clients, passworded servers, and data transfer via TCP, UDP, or reliable
UDP. Advanced features include network messaging via push, pull, or a
combination, multiple methods of querying users, user groups for client
bandwidth saving, network load reacting data transmission and
retransmission, background pinging to monitor network states, server
failover, and a fully functional lobby system.

Changes: This release provides many bugfixes and speedups, including some
pretty major changes such as a new wrapper around pthreads to completely
eliminate deadlock issues (soft locks). New features include the addition
of a password callback handler to allow integration into your own password
system, name policies, and group passwords. A basic STUN server has been
added. The STUN system is to be considered a work in progress but should
be usable. This release is not protocol compatible with earlier releases.

[016] - HAproxy 1.3.14.3 (Development)
  by Willy Tarreau (http://freshmeat.net/users/wtarreau/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 16:02

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System :: Networking

About: HAproxy is a high-performance and highly-robust TCP and HTTP load
balancer which provides cookie-based persistence, content-based switching,
advanced traffic regulation with surge protection, automatic failover,
run-time regex-based header control, Web-based reporting, advanced logging
to help trouble-shooting buggy applications and/or networks, and a few
other features. Its own event-driven state machine achieves 20,000 hits
per second and surpasses GigaEthernet on modern hardware, even with tens
of thousands of simultaneous connections.

Changes: Several minor bugfixes and documentation updates have been
merged. Nothing critical was done, but since it also means greater
reliability, it's probably the right moment for distribution packagers to
upgrade.

  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 05:09

Communications :: Telephony
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions

About: JRemote Control is a simple Bluetooth remote control. It allows you
to initiate virtually any task on your PC from a J2ME enabled device. The
server is fully configurable via an XML configuration file to allow you to
choose how to map tasks on your PC to remote device commands. Commands are
organized in contexts. Configuration is synchronized to the client when it
connects. It could be used to assign the mobile phone "1" key the command
to start your favorite media player, the "2" key to move to the next
track, and so on. Both commands could be organized in a "Media Player"
context.

Changes: System Tray icons that work on Windows and Linux were added. The
icon shows the server's state (not running, running in listen mode, or
client connected). A "Minimize on Tray" configuration item was added along
with a "Suppress server output (including command stdout/stderr) if GUI is
minimized)" item. The Linux scripts were revised.

[027] - Meta-CVS 1.1.98 (1.1)
  by Kaz Kylheku (http://freshmeat.net/users/kazkylheku/)
  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 04:34

Software Development :: Version Control
Software Development :: Version Control :: CVS

About: Meta-CVS is version control system created around CVS. It retains
most of the features of CVS while adding support for first class directory
structure versioning, storage of symbolic links, and versioning of execute
permissions and user-defined properties. Meta-CVS greatly simplifies
branching and merging by keeping track of what is merged where. It records
file types and automatically assigns a CVS keyword expansion mode to newly
added files whose suffixes match previously recorded types. Meta-CVS also
has an importing feature that automatically figures out renames and moves,
making it possible to easily keep up with patches from multiple sources in
spite of directory structure changes.

Changes: Major changes have been made to how Meta-CVS is built. It now
adheres to the de-facto configure/make/make install standard. A C compiler
is no longer required, only an installation of CLISP (but only glibc and
cygwin are supported target platforms, since the program now targets the
platform ABI directly rather than through C wrappers). The output of
certain commands is now automatically filtered to convert the F-hex names
to paths.

  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 16:00

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Internet
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: mxallowd is a daemon for Linux Netfilter (using libipq) which
implements a slightly improved nolisting mechanism. It requires your name
server to be configured to return two MX IP addresses, and the one with
higher priority must not run a mail server on port 25. mxallowd blocks
attempts to connect to the mail server unless the sender tries to connect
to the first mail server before the second. Since most spammers will
attempt direct connections to each mail server, they will be blocked.

Changes: The timeout for whitelist entries has been increased to 3600
seconds. Quiet mode has been implemented. mxallowd now uses
libnetfilter-queue instead of libipq by default.

  Sat, Mar 8th 2008 04:31

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks

About: The Cell Messaging Layer is a communication library for clusters of
Cell Broadband Engine processors. It implements a subset of the popular MPI
message-passing API on the Cell's SPE processors, with one MPI rank per SPE
across any number of Cells and the ability for any SPE to communicate
directly with any other SPE, even across a network. The Cell Messaging
Layer thereby makes programming clusters of Cell processors similar to
programming clusters of conventional CPUs.

Changes: On the PPE side, some of cellmsg_init()'s arguments have been
