[030] - makl 1.7.0
  by KoanLogic (http://freshmeat.net/users/koanlogic/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 04:51

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: MaKL is a simple and light framework for building multi-platform
C/C++ projects, purely based on the Bourne Shell and GNU Make. It is much
easier to install and use than other typical building systems, while
maintaining the essential functionality. It is ideal for embedded systems
due to its cross-compilation, multiplatform toolchaining mechanisms, and
minimal external dependencies.

Changes: The new DISTRECIPE variable was added to the dist.mk template to
load dist objects from an external file (can be mixed with DISTFILES and
DISTREMAP). A fix was made in multiple word representation of header
macros. Linking is also done for cross-compilation. Multi-valued
XENO_PATCH_URI and XENO_PATCH_FILE variables were added in xeno.mk.
XENO_FETCH_MULTI_URI was added to xeno-fetch.mk to allow the downloading
of multiple different tarballs. The "makl-new dist" command produces
Makefile.dist instead of Makefile.

[031] - mpmath 0.7
  by Fredrik Johansson (http://freshmeat.net/users/fredrik_j/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 13:01

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: Mpmath is a pure-Python library for arbitrary-precision
floating-point arithmetic. It implements the standard functions from
Python's math and cmath modules (exp, log, sin, etc.), plus a few
nonelementary special functions (gamma, zeta, etc.), and has utilities for
arbitrary-precision numerical differentiation, integration, root-finding,
and interval arithmetic. It supports unlimited exponent sizes, has full
support for complex numbers, and offers better performance than Python's
standard decimal library. Mpmath is lightweight and easy to install or
include in other software due to being written entirely in Python with no
additional dependencies.

Changes: Major improvements include a new interface for switching
precision, functions for differentiation and root-finding, more
mathematical functions (Bessel functions and Catalan's constant), speed
enhancements (some arithmetic operations are 2x faster), and the usual set
of miscellaneous bugfixes. The documentation has also been improved through
the addition of a comprehensive manual.

Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: TimeTrex is a complete Web-based payroll and time management suite
that offers employee scheduling, time and attendance (timeclock,
timesheet/timecard), job costing, invoicing, and payroll in a single
package. Employees can use Web browsers or timeclocks to track their time
and attendance, check their own timesheet for missed punches, and respond
to flagged timesheet errors. Payroll administrators can quickly generate
paystubs and process payroll based off timesheet information or export
timesheet data to other applications.

Changes: This release fixes a few minor bugs, including one related to DST
that caused the timesheet layout to be incorrect.

[062] - Vamos 0.3.3 (rootz)
  by whadar (http://freshmeat.net/users/whadar/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 04:02

System :: Software Distribution
System :: Software Distribution Tools

About: Vamos project allows computers to run software directly from the
network, without installations. The software is stored on servers and is
centrally maintained without the user's effort or attention. The user just
needs to run applications, and the necessary bits are streamed
automatically to its computer. The execution of the software is local,
allowing high responsiveness and distributed computational load.

Changes: The exit code of sub scripts was fixed. A crash when zenity is
not installed was fixed. dchroot is now used instead of /usr/bin/dchroot.
Relative paths are supported for mount point and image path. Setup-browser
allows the root user (with a warning). An error is raised when a mountpoint
is not empty instead of cleaning it.

[063] - Virtual Ideal Functionality Framework 0.4
  by Martin Geisler (http://freshmeat.net/users/mgeisler/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 13:07

Communications
Security :: Cryptography
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Virtual Ideal Functionality Framework is a framework for creating
efficient and secure multi-party computations (SMPC). Players, who do not
trust each other, participate in a joint computation based on their
private inputs. The computation is done using a cryptographic protocol
which allows them to obtain a correct answer without revealing their
inputs. Operations supported include addition, multiplication, and
comparison, all with Shamir secret shared outputs.

Changes: This release implements a reliable Bracha broadcast that is
secure against active adversaries. Sharings can now be asymmetric, which
means that only a subset of the parties provide input. The open protocol
is now also asymmetric, in the sense that only a subset of the parties
receive the opened result. The behavior of field elements in Boolean
expressions has been fixed. This means that "GF256(0) and GF256(1)" now
returns GF256(0) instead of GF256(1). A modern implementation of the
classic Yao millionaires example from 1982, which started this field of
research, has been added.

[064] - Votorola 0.0.11
  by Michael Allan (http://freshmeat.net/users/mcallan/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 08:30

About: Votorola is software for hosting open elections. It implements an
electoral system that sits outside of government and beyond the control of
parties. Its voter lists are backed by a trust network that is rooted in
community neighbourhoods. It enables voters to advance their own
candidates for public office, their own policies for executive action, and
their own legislative bills for statutory law.

Changes: Voter eligibility tests were added. Administrators may now
specify eligibility criteria, such as residential address, by attaching a
test script to the election. Support for meta-services was added to the
"voter" command shell. Administrators may now issue meta-commands directly
from the command line on behalf of voters, bypassing the voter interface.

About: WebGUI is a content management framework built to allow average
business users to build and maintain complex Web sites. It is modular,

taking up the time of busy IT staff. WebGUI comes with a full host of
features including shopping cart, subscriptions, forums, photo galleries,
FAQs, link lists, blogs, SQL reports, a Web services interface, and a very
configurable user privilege and profiling system.

Changes: This release fixes several issues, including bugs in the wiki,

[066] - Word War vi 0.04
  by Stephen Cameron (http://freshmeat.net/users/StephenCameron/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 22:12

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Word War vi is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up '80s style arcade
game. You pilot your "vi"per craft through core memory, rescuing lost .swp
files, avoiding OS defenses, and wiping out those memory hogging emacs
processes. When all the lost .swp files are rescued, head for the socket
which will take you to the next node in the cluster.

Changes: A volcano was added (Mt. /dev/null). cron jobs now drop your .swp
files into the volcano. emacs Blimps now sport ASCII art. Debris produces
sound when it impacts the ground. The behavior of fuel tanks was changed.
You now hover over the tanks to refuel instead of bombing the tanks. The
object allocator was sped up. Joystick support was added.

[067] - xorriso 0.1.2
  by scdbackup (http://freshmeat.net/users/scdbackup/)
  Wed, Mar 12th 2008 09:05

System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Filesystems

About: xorriso maps file objects from POSIX compliant filesystems into
Rock Ridge enhanced ISO 9660 filesystems and allows session-wise
manipulation of such filesystems. It can load the management information
of existing ISO images, and it writes the session results to optical media
or to filesystem objects. This is the standalone version which incorporates
the libraries of libburnia-project.org and thus depends only on Linux 2.4
(or later), libc, and libpthread. No separate mkisofs and no CD/DVD burn
program are needed.

Changes: This intermediate release produces a static binary with a new
incremental backup feature, improved attribute transfer for directories,
support for DVD+R/DL media, and several minor bugfixes.
