[001] - Adaptive Quality of Service Architecture 2.6.x.y-gs-2.3.1
(Kernel-patches)
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)

Multimedia
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux
About: AQuoSA is an open architecture for the provisioning of adaptive
Quality of Service functionality into the Linux kernel. The project
features a flexible, portable, and lightweight software architecture for
supporting QoS-related services on top of a general-purpose operating
system as Linux. The architecture is well founded on formal scheduling
analysis and control theoretical results. At the core of the software is
an adaptive Resource Reservation layer that is capable of dynamically
adapting the CPU allocation for QoS-aware applications based on their
run-time requirements.
Changes: Added GENSCHED capability to x86_64 architectures.

Database
Documentation
Information Management
About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.
Changes: A new utility, PurgeHistory, can be used to limit the amount of
history retained in a branch. Timestamps are now in the format
yyyy.MM.dd-HH:mm:ss-SSS. This allows transaction history to be queried for
any time period. Browse now supports three more commands. Web pages have
been updated to reflect these changes. A new Web page on journals was
added.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: aurora framework is a slim modular MVC framework written in PHP
5.2+ for rapid development of Web or console applications featuring an
integrated database API, template logic, pretty URLs,
internationalization, caching, data models, and a multi-layered file tree.
Changes: Signals (active and passive events), an integrated test framework
for unit testing, and a much nicer command line interface for ama were
introduced. Two new alternative template syntaxes were added for commands
and translation-vars. ama has been improved and raised to 0.4. Speed was
improved, and some bugs were fixed.

[004] - CharEntry 1.6
by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 05:04
Text Processing
Text Processing :: General
Text Processing :: Linguistic
About: CharEntry is a tool for inserting non-ASCII characters into text,
with particular emphasis on linguistic notation. It provides charts of the
consonants, vowels, and diacritics of the International Phonetic Alphabet
as well as a chart of precomposed accented characters. Clicking on a
character inserts it into a text region, the contents of which may be
saved to a file or copied and pasted elsewhere. A widget for inserting
characters by Unicode codepoint is also provided. Furthermore, it is
possible to read the definition of a custom character chart from a file.
Changes: The widget for inserting characters by code has been modified to
work with Tcl/Tk version 8.5. A workaround has been introduced for a bug
in the MS Windows implementation of some versions of Tcl/Tk. The use of
the Iwidgets library is now optional. Its presence is tested and custom
character charts are made available only if it is detected. Upper case A
with caron is now represented by the single codepoint rather than the
sequence previously used. A single-file executable for MS Windows is now
provided.

[007] - csvdiff 1.6
by roli (http://freshmeat.net/users/schmitzr/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 05:01
Utilities
About: csvdiff is a simple script for comparing two files of
comma-separated values with each other. In contrast to standard diff, it
will show the number of the record where the difference occurs, the column
number, and (if provided) the fieldname which is different. The separator
can be set to any value you want, not just a comma. It also provides
support for multiple column keys, the ability to ignore case and trim
leading/tailing spaces, and the ability to ignore selected columns such as
timestamps.
Changes: Numeric comparison for selected columns is now possible using the
-n option. For example, -n "2;5" will compare columns 2 and 5. It is also
possible to numerically compare all columns except the selected ones using
-n "-2;5". The decimal and 1000's separator can now be chosen. Checks are
included for whether a key column is empty or null and for duplicate keys.
A verbose mode in which all selected options are displayed in the output
was implemented. Column names can now be the first line in both files.

About: Spindown is a daemon to spin down idle disks and thus save energy
and give the disks a longer lifetime. It also works with USB disks and

[039] - trading-shim 080319
by R P Herrold (http://freshmeat.net/users/rpherrold/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 14:26
Database :: API
Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment
About: The trading-shim is a database driven connector API that provides a
persistent store SQL backend database, translates operations to and from
the Interactive Brokers Java TWS API. It can act as an interpreter for
commands, and permits downstream clients to access several worldwide
securities markets and exchanges (stocks, options, futures, bonds, Forex)
for "tick" data and history (intraday, and EoD). It also allows clients to
supervise trades of securities and more.
Changes: New PastFilter convenience records were added to improve bulk
history query processing. A new example Ruby script was added. The new
"bind" operator was provided to give symbolic names to "order template"
records. A latency bug in reader was found and fixed as part of adding the
Reader_Fsm class. Parse state was split between the Reader_Fsm (top level)
and existing Cursor (recursive descent) classes.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
About: urlwatch is a script intended to help you watch URLs and get
notified (via email) of any changes. The change notification will include
the URL that has changed and a unified diff of what has changed. The
script works out of a single directory, so there is no need to install
anything. State files are kept in the same folder. The script supports
stripping parts of a page that are always changing through the use of a
filter hook function. It is typically run as a cronjob.
Changes: This release added error handling for missing/currently offline
URLs, notifies users when "NEW" pages appear (if they were watching 404
URLs), and made the display of errors configurable.

[041] - vlock 2.2 (Stable)
by Frank Benkstein (http://freshmeat.net/users/toidinamai/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 14:17
Desktop Environment :: Tools
Security
Terminals
About: vlock is a program to lock one or more sessions on the Linux
console. This is especially useful for Linux machines which have multiple
users with access to the console. One user may lock his or her session(s)
while still allowing other users to use the system on other virtual
consoles. If desired, the entire console may be locked and virtual console
switching disabled.
Changes: Vlock's architecture was again changed from using multiple
executables to a single one with plugin support. The main helpers
"vlock-all", "vlock-new", and "vlock-nosysrq" were all converted to
plugins to keep filesystem based permission checking. Plugins may be
scripts or shared objects and can add functions like muting the sound,
pausing music or movie playback, and even eye candy screen savers.

[042] - WANPIPE 3.3.2 (Development)
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 05:20
Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System
About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.
Changes: This release added A500 hardware support with the NetBricks BRI
Stack. There were also major A500 driver updates and fixes. Support for
serial A142/A144 hardware, AFT A056 56K, hardware and HW DTMF was added.
Legacy protocols were updated for the new front end architecture. PMC
framers were modified for lowered LOS sensitivity. Fake up/down state
changes on started inactive lines were fixed. MAXIM framers have been
updated for lowered sensitivity. Cable cross talk on 8 port cards has been
fixed. Support for Unframed E1 and Tri-State Mode has been enabled.
Loopback commands have been fixed. There were numerous bugfixes and minor
enhancements.

[045] - X11 Audio Extension 0.6.1
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 05:06
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Software Development :: Libraries
About: The X11 Audio Extension aims to provide audio support for the X
Window System, in particular the X.Org reference implementation. Audio
data can be directly routed through the X protocol so that remote
applications can transparently play and capture audio across the network
in the same way they can do graphics and mouse/keyboard user interaction.
Applications with strict latency requirements can alternatively use shared
memory. The extension provides hooks for an "audio compositing manager"
that manages how multiple applications may simultaneously access the audio
hardware (mix streams, mute some streams); it is the counterpart to the
window manager.
Changes: Numerous enhancements and bugfixes.

[046] - Xenomai 2.4.2
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Sat, Mar 22nd 2008 05:06

About: Xenomai is a realtime development framework cooperating with the
Linux kernel in order to provide pervasive, interface-agnostic, hard
realtime support to userspace applications, seamlessly integrated into the
GNU/Linux environment. Xenomai is based on an abstract RTOS core, usable
for building any kind of realtime interface, over a nucleus which exports
a set of generic RTOS services. Any number of RTOS personalities called
"skins" can then be built over the nucleus, providing their own specific
interface to the applications by using the services of a single generic
core to implement it.
