[001] - ACL Policy Daemon for Postfix 0.70
  by Miguel Filho (http://freshmeat.net/users/miguelfilho/)
  Mon, Apr 21st 2008 11:07

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
System :: Systems Administration

About: ACL Policy Daemon is a program that communicates with the Postfix
MTA using the Policy Delegation Protocol to implement an ACL (Access
Control List) system, making it very easy to improve and create controls
for your email traffic. It can verify SPF records and do greylisting too.

Changes: This release adds greylisting support and has complete code
refactoring. There are many new ACLs, better documentation, and
performance improvements. It's been tested on production servers for some
time and has proven to be very stable and reliable.

  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Mon, Apr 21st 2008 01:47

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: The PElement.addPathnameReference method was calling
MapApp.makeSymbolic, which does not work for well-known names due to the
side effect of deleting the handle in the well-known table when a
well-known name is removed. These methods now call addSymbolic, and the
makeSymbolic methods (now having no usages) have been dropped.

Changes: The createWellknown bug has been fixed. The runScript utility now
works with any branch in any database. The static.cowdb trunk branch now
holds command descriptions, which is now used by Browser. A script is
provided for loading this information. The check register sample
application now has a script for defining its commands.

[005] - as-diagrams 1.0.11
  by Alexander Selifonov (http://freshmeat.net/users/damperbozz/)
  Mon, Apr 21st 2008 07:52

About: as-diagrams is a PHP class that can be used to generate bar chart
diagrams using only HTML with CSS styles and icon images. It does not use
GD or any other dynamic graphics generation library. It takes as
parameters a set of values that define each bar of the chart and a set of
labels for horizontal and vertical axis legends. It generates a bar chart
using HTML tables for displaying each group of bars and also lists the
sample value numbers. Additionally, it may gather sample values to
generate the charts from the results of a given SQL query.

the library. It is written to be tied as closely as possible to the
current Atom specification.

Changes: Support for reading and writing entry documents was improved.
Attribute support was improved to more closely match the specification.

unique API for different resources of similar resource types; the most
prominent examples are SQL databases. It includes a convenient way to
access MySQL and Oracle databases in the same way, so that changing from
MySQL to Oracle or vice-versa does not need big code changes.

Changes: This release features an optimized BatchCommand for Oracle SQL
which automatically uses OCI array execution whenever possible.
Applications which issue the same insert/update or delete statement
multiple times in a row can gain a performance factor of about 2 to 10
when using SQLBatch.

that it is tuned to the needs of high-end machines.

Changes: This release adds support for thread pooling in the notification

options added are an assertion embedded in cas-proxy-init that complies
with RFC 3820 requirements on certificate extension, support for signing
policy enforcement, and support for building GSI with an external OpenSSL
package. A configurable option to control the number of concurrent threads
to handle transfer requests has been added. There are numerous bugfixes.

About: hiberlite provides C++ object-relational mapping for SQLite 3. Its
design and API are inspired by the Boost.Serialization, which means there
is almost no API to learn. In contrast to most serialization libraries
with SQL serializers, C++ objects mapped with hiberlite behave similar to
active record patterns: you are not forced to follow the "read all your
data/modify some small part/write everything back" path. It is for people
who need reliable data storage, ACID transactions, and simple random
access to their data files, and don't like coding in SQL.

[045] - strongSwan 4.2.1
  by Andreas Steffen (http://freshmeat.net/users/asteffen/)
  Mon, Apr 21st 2008 01:45

Security
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Networking

About: strongSwan is a complete IPsec and IKEv1 implementation for Linux
2.4 and 2.6 kernels. It also fully supports the new IKEv2 protocol with
Linux 2.6 kernels. It interoperates in both IKEv1 and IKEv2 mode with most
other IPsec-based VPN products. The focus of the strongSwan project is on
strong authentication mechanisms using X.509 public key certificates and
optional secure storage of private keys on smartcards through a
standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique feature is the use of X.509
attribute certificates to implement advanced access control schemes based
on group memberships.

Changes: Support for "Hash and URL" encoded IKEv2 certificate payloads was
added. Instead of the certificates themselves, only an URL pointing to them
is transmitted, thus avoiding IP fragmentation of IKE datagrams due to
large certificates. The IKEv1 pluto daemon now supports the ESP encryption
algorithm Camellia and the authentication algorithm AES_XCBC_MAC.

About: Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor written in Gtk2-Perl It aims to bring
the concept of a wiki to your desktop. Every page is saved as a text file
with wiki markup. Pages can contain links to other pages, and are saved
automatically. Creating a new page is as easy as linking to a non-existing
page. Pages are ordered in a hierarchical structure that gives it the look
and feel of an outliner. This tool is intended to keep track of TODO lists
or to serve as a personal scratch book.

Changes: Zim now has a background process that keeps track of open
notebooks and makes sure each notebook is opened only once. Attached files
and images are now handled more consistently throughout the application.
The notebook configurati file got its own MIME type, so you can start zim
by clicking this file from your file browser. A todo-list plugin has been
added and the calendar now uses a namespace per month for scalability.
Many bugfixes are included. Translations for German, French, Italian, and
