Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries
About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX DirectConnect, YellowNet, GeldKarte, and DTAUS discs are currently
supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney,and QBankManager.
Changes: This is a bugfix and cleanup release. Obsolete code has been
removed and some bugs in the SWIFT parser have been fixed. All plugins are
now loaded using GWEN's plugin framework. The OFX parser is now able to
import investment accounts. Support for static linking has been improved.

Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 21:31
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3
About: DerMixD is an audio mixing and network-listening daemon that is
similar to mixplayd but quite different in its implementation. It supports
the playing of music files on a run-time configurable number of input
channels, mixing them together and producing output on a run-time

[007] - dim versioning tool 0.4.8
by Marc Vertes (http://freshmeat.net/users/mvertes/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 02:18
Software Development :: Version Control
Utilities
About: Dim is a utility to help you track the changes of items (sets
composed of multiple files). It provides commands to handle the complete
lifecycle of version control operations: create a library, register users
(code authors), create items, save local versions, branch, clone, export,
import, remove, merge, archive, replicate library content over the network
or the filesystem, and access the full history and browse differences at
the library, item, file, line, or word level. Dim is a single
self-documented POSIX shell script. It just uses standard Unix utilities
like awk, diff, tar, and openssl.
Changes: Clones have been internally reorganized to allow future support
for symbolic links, directories, and special files. A persistent
auto/noauto option was added for version mount/remount to allow automatic
updating of the clone index. Several bugs were fixed.

by Carsten Schmitz (http://freshmeat.net/users/cronostitan/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 02:14
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: LimeSurvey (formerly PHPSurveyor) is a Web application that
interacts with MySQL, MSSQL, or Postgres to develop surveys, publish
surveys, and collect responses to surveys. Once a survey has been created,
data can be inserted into the survey either by a "pretty" public screen
which presents each question one at a time, or by a quick and nasty data
entry screen. It includes the capacity to generate individualized
"tokens", so that invitations can be issued to participants. It also has
the capacity to set conditions on whether questions will display
(branching), numerous question types, and a basic statistics function.
Changes: This new build contains numerous bugfixes for the user
invitation. An issue were Multiple Numerical Input didn't work with
greater than or equal to conditions was fixed. The Dutch, Greek, Danish,
Spanish, and Swedish translations were updated. A problem with editing a
response with "dual scale" questions was fixed. The sample survey was
updated. An issue where question reorder did not work in all languages
after using question import was fixed. queXML-Export was updated.

without prior installation, copy of a file or directory to multiple hosts
as efficiently as possible in a relatively secure way, and collect a copy
of a file or directory from multiple hosts.
Changes: Hash tree cleanup in thread tracking code was improved in all
tools in the suite. Mrtools Has now adopted version 3 of the GPL. A shell
quoting issue in mrexec.pl was fixed. This fixed several known
limitations, including the ability to use mrexec.pl with Perl scripts and
awk if statements. This fix alone has redefined mrexec.pl's capabilities,

[024] - OpenSAF Milestone 1.0.8
by Nicolas Thomas (http://freshmeat.net/users/thomnico/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 10:11
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
About: The Open Service Availability Framework (OpenSAF) is designed to
work in a loosely coupled computer system with fast interconnections
between the nodes. An application using OpenSAF could provide five nines
(99.999 %) availability without re-inventing availability techniques. It
provides mechanisms to replicate data between nodes, so that in case of
failure the services can be started on a different node with the same
state. It monitors itself for hardware and software failures, can keep
several service instances running (with different availability models),
and can automatically restart and migrate services to satisfy the
availability requirements. It is based on the standard defined at
saforum.org. It includes an availability management framework, a message
service, a lock service, an event service, a checkpoint service, and much
more.
Changes: This represents a tested and stable version of the functionality
made available by the 1.0.7 Beta release. It has 32-bit and 64-bit
architecture support (tested for AMD-64, and IA-64), better support for
UserModeLinux, test suites for all OpenSAF services, additional compliance
with the LSB (Linux Standard Base), thread stack size optimization, and
dynamic loading of libraries in applications. There are some bugfixes, as
well as updates to the INSTALL instructions.

[027] - PAM-script 1.1.1
by RKO (http://freshmeat.net/users/rkowen/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 10:20
About: pam-script allows you to execute scripts during authorization,
passwd changes, and on session opening or closing. Such scripts can
perform necessary tasks or influence the outcome of the PAM stack. For
example, if the entry "sshd auth required pam_script" was included in
pam.conf, and if the pam_script_auth script exits with a non-zero value,
this would cause the user to be denied SSH access to the machine.
Changes: Conditional sections need to be placed after including config.h.
The Debian/Ubuntu package build instructions have been improved.

[028] - PCGen 5.13.14 (Development)
by Maredudd (http://freshmeat.net/users/Maredudd800/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 13:19
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
About: PCGen is a Java (1.5+) -based character generator aimed at
supporting OGL role playing games like those based upon the SRD, RSRD, and
MSRD (such as Dungeons and Dragons). It is highly configurable by the
users, allowing the Game Master to add or remove races, classes, feats,
etc., and to implement house rules such as differing class or race
restrictions. Level advancement is also supported, with configurable
progressions of feats, skills and ability score bonuses. For "at the
table" support, PCGen offers a set of GM plugins. Further options allow
the user to produce a customized character sheet, which can then be viewed
in, or printed from, the user's WWW browser. It can also produce a "party"
sheet with the information needed by the GM.
Changes: Of special note for this release is the addition of a new source
dataset based upon RPG Objects Darwin's World 2 - Terror of Twisted Earth.
Additionally, many bugfixes have been incorporated into this, the fourth
beta of the 5.14 development cycle, as it moves towards the next
production release. With another 65 issues fixed, this release is looking
more stable than ever.

Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management
About: phpVideoPro is a program to manage your collection of DVDs, Video
CDs, and video tapes. It stores all data in a database, and provides you
with features for adding/changing entries, displaying lists, printing
labels and lists, and more. An online help system is built-in to guide you
when necessary, and an integrated user/session management protects your
data against unauthorized access. Support for multiple languages is
provided, and supported databases include MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Changes: Several minor fixes were made. The IMDB class was outsourced -
IMDBPHP is used instead. This means that it is no longer necessary to
update phpVideoPro when the IMDB site changes. IMDB search using
akas.imdb.com will now highlight the localized movie title.

Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML
Text Processing :: Markup :: TeX/LaTeX
About: The Project Gutenberg Markup Tool is a command-line tool with a GUI
front-end that automatically creates an HTML or LaTeX file from a Project
Gutenberg etext. The aim is to provide publication-quality formatted
etexts, without manual markup, in conjunction with post-processing by
other pre-existing tools. It is tailored specifically to Project Gutenberg
etexts, but can in some cases be used for other plain-ASCII etexts.
Changes: A GUI front-end (GUItenMark) has been added. There are now
installer programs for Windows and Linux x86. Guidance on LaTeX
post-processing in Windows has been added. A program (GutenSplit) has been
added for splitting the monolithic HTML output into chapter-sized HTML.
Various improvements have been made to LaTeX output generation. A number
of bugs were fixed.

[032] - R 2.7.0
by Friedrich Leisch (http://freshmeat.net/users/leisch/)
Tue, Apr 22nd 2008 04:30
Multimedia :: Graphics
Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics
About: R is a language and environment for statistical computing and
graphics. It is similar to S, which was developed at Bell Laboratories by
John Chambers et al. It provides a wide variety of statistical and
graphical techniques (linear and nonlinear modelling, statistical tests,
time series analysis, classification, clustering, etc.). R is designed as
a true computer language with control-flow constructions for iteration and
alternation, and it allows users to add additional functionality by
defining new functions. For computationally intensive tasks, Fortran and C
code can be linked and called at run time.
Changes: The default graphics device for non-interactive use is now pdf()
rather than postscript(). The default width and height for pdf() and
bitmap() have been changed to 7 inches to match the screen devices. Most
users of the X11() device will see a new device that has different fonts,
anti-aliasing of lines and fonts, and supports semi-transparent colors.
Considerable efforts have been made to make the default output from
graphics devices as similar as possible (and in particular close to that
from postscript/pdf). There were many other enhancements.
