Information Management
About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.
Changes: Several bugs relating to navigation in time were fixed. The
setAttribute command was added. The snapshots command now lists the
headlines from the corresponding transaction rolons, which gives a
description of what was changed after the snapshot was made. (Snapshots
being before images.)

[002] - akk@da 0.75-pre1-appliance
by Piotr Kodzis (http://freshmeat.net/users/akkada/)
Wed, May 7th 2008 13:52
System :: Monitoring
About: akk@da is a simple network monitoring system designed for small and
medium size computer networks. Its purpose is to quick detect system or
network faults, and to display information about detected problems for the
administrator. It is designed as a pro-active network monitor. It does not
wait for information from any agents, systems, etc. It collects
information itself every minute (you can decrease this period to as little
as 1 second if needed). Almost all services of the monitored hosts are
discovered automatically.
Changes: This release is available as an appliance.

by Ric_ (http://freshmeat.net/users/rjharv/)
Wed, May 7th 2008 11:06
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: Apache Geo Map is a script that parses an Apache combined access
log for the IP addresses of hosts that have accessed the server. It then
looks up a Geo-Tag for those locations and, if successful, it adds them to
a data file which the Google Maps API then displays. This plots all unique
resolvable hits on a map.
Changes: This release adds config support from the command line (e.g.
/apache-geo-map.pl -c /etc/apachegeomap/default.conf). This should allow
you to run the script easily for multiple sites. The script still supports
defaults, so you don't have to specify a config file. This release also
includes a fixed example and README documentation.

[007] - Butterfly Container 2.2.0
by Jakob Jenkov (http://freshmeat.net/users/jjenkov/)
Wed, May 7th 2008 03:26
About: Butterfly Container is a Java dependency injection container. It is
smaller (~100KB jar), yet more flexible and easier to use than Spring,
Pico, and Guice (at least in the developers' opinion). Instead of XML,
Butterfly Container is configured using a simple, flexible, Java-like
configuration language, or by plugging plain non-annotation,
non-reflection Java factories into the container. There are no external
dependencies.
Changes: This version makes it possible to replace factories in the
container at runtime. This is a handy feature during unit testing.

About: With a small codebase, the PowerDNS Recursor is an advanced
resolver currently serving the DNS resolving needs of over 40 million
Internet connections. Besides high performance (using kqueue or epoll,
over 50 thousand qps on commodity hardware), it provides advanced
anti-spoofing measures. In addition, the program caches server performance
and timeouts, making it both network and user friendly. It also has
built-in hooks for making graphs with rrdtool, providing insight into
nameserver performance.
Changes: This version fixes two unfortunate bugs, one with slight security

[060] - Seismic ToolKit 0.61
by Dominique Reymond (http://freshmeat.net/users/Reymond/)
Wed, May 7th 2008 03:25
Education
Scientific/Engineering
About: Seismic Toolkit is a tool for processing and displaying seismic
signal data in a graphical interface. It reads seismic signals in SAC
format, and provides a variety of signal processing, such as filtering,
spectral analysis, polarisation analysis, time-frequency representation,
Hilbert transform, and singular value decomposition. Some utilities are
included for useful seismological applications, like computation of
Seismic Moment Mo, Mantle magnitude Mm and Moment magnitude Mw, MTPA
spectral analysis, plotting focal mechanisms, computation (and plotting)
of instrumental response from poles and zeros, and some usefull GMT
(Generic Mapping Tool) scripts for plotting signals, responses, and
time-frequency in Postscript files for high quality prints.
Changes: Parameter dialog boxes may now be proceeded with the "Enter" key.
Closing the parameter dialog boxes (via ESC or close button) no longer
causes a crash. A potentially incorrectly auto-detected endianness of
binary SAC files (due to wrong IFTYPE range) was fixed. Byte-swapping is
performed only on numerical values. When globbing input_files, a native
function (glob_files) is used insted of calling external programs
(ls/dir). When dealing with memory allocations, Glib's malloc functions
are used. Various code cleanups were done.

Wed, May 7th 2008 17:14
Text Processing :: Markup
Text Processing :: Markup :: TeX/LaTeX
About: Wyneken is a text processor that leverages several technologies to
bring about a very professional looking document. Wyneken documents are
written in a bbcode-style markup that gets converted into a LaTeX
document. HeVeA, Latex2rtf, and latex-beamer are all used to bring you
more functionality. In specific, HeVeA allows for the output of HTML and
Ascii Text Files. Latex2RTF does the same for RTF files. latex-beamer is
presentation software that sits under Wyneken Presentations.
Changes: The highlights of this release include a switch from GTK to Qt 4,
a new parser that allows for nested Wyneken statements, improved wyndb
handling and performance, a hypertext infrastructure for included
documents, and a GUI to import images and subsample an image if necessary.
