[001] - 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons Character Generator 4.2
  by Slicer (http://freshmeat.net/users/slicer/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 02:31

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons Character Generator is an
HTML/JavaScript Web page that allows the user to quickly and easily create
new Dungeons and Dragons characters. The characters can be of any of the
eleven classes, any of the playable races, and may start at any level from
1 to 220. Generation requires some simple input, after which the character
is displayed on a basic character sheet. It allows you to select your
starting stats, add ability points, and pick skills, equipment, feats, and
spells. It runs on most operating systems with most modern browsers.

Changes: Two bugs where fighters and wizards were not getting all of their
bonus feats were fixed. A bug where not all players could receive the Rapid
Shot feat was fixed.

[003] - Ananta 1.0 beta (Beta)
  by mlitn (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlitn/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 07:47

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Ananta makes it possible for unexperienced users to create a
professional high-quality Web site quickly, while keeping the codebase
clean and easy to build upon for both developers and designers. Ananta
produces valid XHTML 1.0 code, and uses almost no tables. Ananta aims to
be as search-engine friendly as possible, without using dirty tricks that
may eventually get you banned. Ananta tries to be as multifunctional as
possible without making things overly complicated. The UI tries to prevent
inexperienced users from causing irreversible damage.

Changes: This release fixes the user account activation page, password
renewal, activation after password renewal, module installation and
removal, a possible security flaw (SQL injection), an installation
procedure step 5 error, menu items, content, and module order after
editing, "allow comments" and "show title" after sorting, relative paths
when selecting images in the file manager, and an XHTML invalidity which
occurred when the login module was shown two times.

[005] - AsItHappens 0.51
  by Mark Abrahams (http://freshmeat.net/users/markabrahams/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 10:57

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: AsItHappens is a real-time network statistics collector and
grapher. It collects data from devices over a network via ICMP and SNMP
and displays them on a graph, optionally storing collected data in a
database for later retrieval. Collection types include network response,
bandwidth usage, processor usage, memory usage, Cisco NBAR, and Cisco
NetFlow. AsItHappens polls data in regular intervals, which can be in the
order of milliseconds, to give immediate feedback on network performance,
and it can also graph flow information from packet capture files.
AsItHappens includes the Self Defending Network, a horizontal shoot-em-up
based on collected graph data.

Changes: This release fixes incorrect definition of the level 9 boss in
the Self Defending Network.

[006] - Auto Project Planner 2.1.0.0 (APP.NET)
  by don.didi (http://freshmeat.net/users/dondidi/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 13:34

Office/Business
Office/Business :: CRM
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: Auto Project Planner automatically calculates a proper project plan
based on your effort estimations and the due dates you have in mind. A list
of tasks and a list of employees can be defined. Tasks can be assigned to
one or more employees. It is also possible to define a maximum percentage
value an employee can/should work on a task. Public holidays, leaves,
weekly working hours, and more parameters can be specified and are
considered in the calculation. According to this input, the software
computes time plans by minimizing the MSE (mean squared error) between
expected and computed end dates.

Changes: Some smaller bugs in the previous beta version are fixed.
Improvements have been to the GUI and the graphical output of the
calculation results.

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)

About: Deliantra is a client for Deliantra game servers. It offers an
intuitive user interface for exploring the vast game world, a persistent
minimap, powerful macros and keymaps, dialog-based NPC interaction, and
easy configuration for the skill, spell, and item system. It is based on
Perl, SDL, and OpenGL for high performance on modern systems, and works on
both Unix and Windows. Ports to other platforms should be very easy and are
underway.

Changes: The map cache has been extended a bit to store more map changes
(which fixes some minor bugs). A crash bug with corrupted map caches has
been fixed. A crashbug with some UI elements after logout was also fixed.
The server XML text formatting is now also supported in item tooltips. The
key repeats are ignored now in some conditions. The client configuration is
now stored in pretty printed JSON.

About: DirSynch is a bidirectional directory synchronizing software. It
helps you to discover the status of each file in both directories: if it's
only in one of them, if it's newer in one than in the other, or if they are
simply equal. After letting you to choose which files do you want to
synchronize, it performs the right operations to make both directories
equal (or not, if you want it different). The program can create a backup
of the files before overwriting them.

  Fri, May 23rd 2008 16:58

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: LimeSurvey (formerly PHPSurveyor) is a Web application that
interacts with MySQL, MSSQL, or Postgres to develop surveys, publish
surveys, and collect responses to surveys. Once a survey has been created,
data can be inserted into the survey either by a "pretty" public screen
which presents each question one at a time, or by a quick and nasty data
entry screen. It includes the capacity to generate individualized
"tokens", so that invitations can be issued to participants. It also has
the capacity to set conditions on whether questions will display
(branching), numerous question types, and a basic statistics function.

Changes: Input length in numerical questions was fixed. Users being unable
to export their own survey was fixed. The group page was displayed even
when no description was given; this has been fixed. Mutiple problems with
conditions have been fixed. Danish, French, Spanish, Welsh, Croatian, and
Italian language files have been updated.

  by Jim Jozwiak (http://freshmeat.net/users/jozwiak/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 02:45

Scientific/Engineering :: Medical Science Apps.

About: nut is nutrition software to record what you eat and analyze your
meals for nutrient composition. The database included is the latest USDA
Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. This database contains values
for vitamins, minerals, fats, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fiber,
etc., and includes the essential polyunsaturated fats, Omega-3 and
Omega-6. Nutrient levels are expressed as a percentage of the Daily Value,
the familiar standard of food labeling in the United States, but also can
be fully customized. Foods can be added from recipes or food labels, and
nutrient intake can be graphed. The program is completely menu-driven and
there are no commands to learn.

Changes: This release fixes errors introduced by the last bugfix. The
basic problem was that reverse-engineering the formulation of a packaged
food would not honor the descending quantities of the ordered ingredient
statement.

  Fri, May 23rd 2008 03:16

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The OpenDBX libraries provide a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The C and
C++ libraries aim to implement access to the native database interfaces
efficiently via a thin abstraction layer. They consist of a basic set of
functions that are part of all vendor database libraries and can be
extended by additional function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS
SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are
supported.

Changes: Some patches were applied to the sqlite3 and odbc backends to
make them work even better. As a convenience for developers,
odbx_result_finish() makes sure that all rows are fetched and the
parameter for Result::getResult() was made optional. The odbx-sql utility
was also improved and is now capable of auto-completing all ANSI SQL
keywords. Also, man pages for the odbx_lo_*() and odbx_result_finish()
functions as well as the odbx-sql application were written.

About: PCGen is a Java (1.5+) -based character generator aimed at
supporting OGL role playing games like those based upon the SRD, RSRD, and
MSRD (such as Dungeons and Dragons). It is highly configurable by the
users, allowing the Game Master to add or remove races, classes, feats,
etc., and to implement house rules such as differing class or race
restrictions. Level advancement is also supported, with configurable
progressions of feats, skills and ability score bonuses. For "at the
table" support, PCGen offers a set of GM plugins. Further options allow
the user to produce a customized character sheet, which can then be viewed
in, or printed from, the user's WWW browser. It can also produce a "party"
sheet with the information needed by the GM.

[034] - phpLogCon 2.3.3 (Development)
  by deltaray (http://freshmeat.net/users/deltaray/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 10:56

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: phpLogCon is a Web front-end for syslog and other network event
data. It provides easy browsing and some basic analysis. Data are taken
from databases or plain syslog text files, so phpLogCon does not require
changes to an existing logging infrastructure. Depending on the log data
present, it can process syslog messages, Windows event log entries, and
some more exotic things. Its troubleshooting support enables users to
quickly find solutions to problems seen in the log data.

Changes: This release adds the new DB driver (Logstream), which uses PHP
PDO. PDO is the latest generic database interface for PHP 5 and
recommended for best performance. It is possible to use other database
engines with this new logstream class like MS SQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC,
Oracle, or even IMB DB2. This release optimizes the logic of the pager and
increases performance related to it. It adds support for the new database
driver to the installation script. The old driver has been renamed to
MYSQL Native, and is also recommended if you use MySQL as your database
server.

[037] - pipestatus 0.5.0
  by Aleksey Cheusov (http://freshmeat.net/users/vle/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 01:58

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries

About: pipestatus is a source file for UNIX/POSIX shells that provides set
of functions for obtaining the exit status of every program in a pipe
without using non-portable extensions. Most shells, such as BSD /bin/sh,
ksh, pdksh, ash, bash, dash, mksh, and zsh are supported.

Changes: "check_status_re" and therefore "runpipe_re" use "grep -E"
instead of "grep" in order to simplify the regexp that contains exit
statuses of 2 or more digits. Formally speaking, this breaks backward
compatibility. If the PIPESTATUS_VERBOSE variable is set to a non-empty
string, then the check_status0 and check_status_re functions print an
error message to stderr.

About: plus4emu is a portable emulator of the Commodore Plus/4 computer.
It supports Windows and POSIX platforms (32 bit Windows, 32 and 64 bit

quality hardware emulation, but the system requirements are higher than
that of most other emulators.

Changes: This release implements IEC-level floppy drive emulation. The
debugger window now displays the current state of TED registers. On
Windows and Mac OS X, the native file selection dialog is used instead of
the FLTK one. Various improvements have been made to the utilities. The
TED luminance table has been changed to improve color accuracy. Recording
video to AVI files in RLE8 format has been improved. D64 files with any

[040] - Quackey 0.3
  by M. Leo Cooper (http://freshmeat.net/users/thegrendel/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 10:59

About: Quackey is a somewhat simplified but mostly feature-complete
version of the Perquackey anagram word-building game. It runs in an xterm,
Gnome terminal, or on the console. The entire game is contained in an 11kb
Bash shell script, and a big chunk of that is instruction text and
comments. It was written as a "proof-of-concept," but the game is quite
playable (and fun) even in its preliminary release form. It requires the
author's "yawl" word list package or a similar word list installed in
/usr/share/dict. Playing Quackey is good practice for Scrabble and similar
anagramming games.

Changes: The display of 9-letter words in the "vulnerable" version of
Quackey has been fixed. A script has been added that appends all 7+ letter
anagrams of the letter set to the auto-save file ("vulnerable" only).

graphs of a program, A cross-platform disassembler as an objdump frontend,
and more.

Changes: Better maemo integration, support for fixed graph nodes with user
defined contents, a fuzzing script in Lua, a memory protection manager
command for Linux/x86 and Win32, support for SPARC disassembler and the
MIPS loongson2f debugger, breakpoint-based step command (useful for

[042] - rsyncrypto 1.10
  by Shachar Shemesh (http://freshmeat.net/users/TheSun/)
  Fri, May 23rd 2008 13:24

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Rsyncrypto allows you to encrypt a file or a directory structure
such that they can later be synchronized to another machine using rsync.
This means that local changes to the plain text file result in local
changes to the cipher text file. rsyncrypto compresses the plain text file
prior to encrypting it with gzip using the "rsyncable" patch, which is
available from the rsync sources.

Changes: This release adds an option "--export-changes" that writes to a
log file the files affected by the operation in a way suitable for passing
to rsync's --include-from option. On Windows, mkdir would still fail if the
last component of the path to create was a drive letter; this has been

About: SCMS is a base for a secure content management system. Some of its
features are a role-based object-oriented design, conformance to XHTML 1.0
Transitional, strict I/O (input/output) validation, a custom session
implementation, support for SSL cookies (when run over SSL), session

the many new features in PHP 5 and MySQL 5.

Changes: The footer include has been changed from a .shtml to a PHP file.
Changes have been made to the conditions of the GPL for SCMS: from this
