About: The Amahi Home Server is a "Home Digital Assistant," or HDA. It's a
server targeted for home and home office environments. It provides
calendaring, a wiki, shared network storage, network backups, a printer
server, remote access, and more.
Changes: Updates were made to the Amahi Slideshow app. It has a new custom
piclens logo, two column layout for the picture folders, a small
improvement in speed, and cached thumbnails that are automatically
refreshed when they are requested so that the cache does not expire based
on when they were created. bind was updated with Amahi fixes for the
x86-64 architecture (as reported upstream to Red Hat).

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: aria2 is a utility for downloading files. The supported protocols
are HTTP(S), FTP, BitTorrent, and Metalink. It has a powerful segmented
downloading ability, downloading a file from multiple sources and multiple
protocols and utilizing your download bandwidth to the maximum. It supports
downloading a file from HTTP(S)/FTP and BitTorrent at the same time, while
the data downloaded from HTTP(S)/FTP is uploaded to the BitTorrent swarm.
Using Metalink's chunk checksums, aria2 automatically validates chunks of
data while downloading a file like BitTorrent.
Changes: This release adds the ability to specify any number of URIs,
torrents, and metalinks in a command-line. The option to set user-defined
HTTP headers was added. Transparent Metalink and connection reuse for
HTTP/FTP downloads are supported. A download progress summary can be
output at a given interval. The option to suppress any console output was
added.

System :: Archiving :: Packaging
About: The RPM Package Manager (RPM) is a powerful command line driven
package management system capable of installing, uninstalling, verifying,
querying, and updating software packages. Each software package consists
of an archive of files along with information about the package like its
version, a description, etc. It also includes the RPM C library and header
files. These development files will simplify the process of writing
programs which manipulate RPM packages and databases and are intended to
make it easier to create graphical package managers or any other tools
that need an intimate knowledge of RPM packages in order to function.
Changes: Additional query format extensions have been added to handle
encoding and UUID generation of package metadata. Additional *.rpm package
file information (stat(2) and file digest) are now saved in an rpmdb
persistently. Build options and make targets for LCOV/GCOV "make check"
coverage have been added. The rpmdb is now opened earlier so that pubkeys
are available when querying package files. Access of file paths in headers
through rpm-python was fixed.

[026] - SymPy 0.5.15
by Ondrej Certik (http://freshmeat.net/users/ocertik/)
Sat, May 24th 2008 23:06
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: SymPy is a symbolic manipulation package, written in pure Python.
Its aim is to become a full featured CAS in Python, while keeping the code
as simple as possible in order to be comprehensible and easily extensible.
Currently, Sympy has only around 1600 lines of code (including comments),
and its capabilities include basic arithmetics, basic simplification,
series expansion, functions (exp, ln, sin, cos, tan, etc.),
differentiation, integration (currently it can do only very simple
integrals), basic substitution, arbitrary precision integers and
rationals, standard (Python) floats, basic complex numbers, and symbolic
limits.
Changes: All SymPy functions now support vector arguments, e.g. sin([1, 2,
3]). lambdify can now use numpy, math, or mpmath. The order of lambdify
arguments has changed. All SymPy objects can be pickled. The code was
simplified, improved, and made more robust. The broken limit_series was
removed, so there is just one limit implementation. Limits now use
nseries. .nseries() was improved a lot. Polys was improved. A basic
kronecker delta and Levi-Civita implementation was added.

Sat, May 24th 2008 23:34
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Tokyo Cabinet is a library of routines for managing a database. It
is the successor of QDBM. Tokyo Cabinet runs very fast. For example, the
time required to store 1 million records is 1.5 seconds for a hash
database and 2.2 seconds for a B+ tree database. Moreover, the database
size is very small. For example, the overhead for a record is 16 bytes for
a hash database, and 5 bytes for a B+ tree database. Furthermore, the
scalability of Tokyo Cabinet is great. The database size can be up to 8EB.
Changes: Code cleanup was done. Bugs were fixed. The tcmimebreak() and
tcmimeparts() functions were added. The B+ tree database's transactions
