Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
Text Processing :: Markup :: XSL/XSLT
About: metaf2xml parses and decodes aviation routine weather reports
(METAR, SPECI), aerodrome forecasts (TAF), and synoptic observations
(SYNOP) and stores the components in XML. They can then be converted to
plain language (text, HTML), or XML with different schemas.
Changes: This release adds the processing of SYNOP groups in section 3 for
region IV, groups in section 4, and recognises more 9xxxx groups in section
3. The geopotential height is properly decoded and the decoding of the snow
depth is now country-specific. The precipitation amounts and cloud
information from sections 1 and 3 are displayed in the summary format for
SYNOP. Ogimet was added to the list of possible data sources. There are
many small improvements for the translations and a few bugfixes.

About: MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way
messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking
APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python.
MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized
Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients
message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical
database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical
wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
Changes: Compatibility problems with various flavors of Microsoft Visual
C++ and Haiku were fixed. A couple of other very minor features were added.

Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
About: Openmailadmin is a little administration interface to every
complete IMAP mail server daemon. It supports every feature IMAP provides,
and fits in most MTA configurations. A key feature is the non-standard,
generic administration hierarchy which not only seperates "normal users"
from "administrators", but enables the mailserver-master to create
instances between them. You will be able to let other users create their
own sub-users and thus either share a single mail server between different
organizations or project your company's employee structure. It excels with
features such as regex addresses and folder ACL management.
Changes: This release adds the ability to write commandline scripts
utilizing Openmailadmin and an easily-maintainable XML index.

[038] - OpenSAF 1.1.0
by Nicolas Thomas (http://freshmeat.net/users/thomnico/)
Fri, Jun 6th 2008 10:26
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
About: The Open Service Availability Framework (OpenSAF) is designed to
work in a loosely coupled computer system with fast interconnections
between the nodes. An application using OpenSAF could provide five nines
(99.999 %) availability without re-inventing availability techniques. It
provides mechanisms to replicate data between nodes, so that in case of
failure the services can be started on a different node with the same
state. It monitors itself for hardware and software failures, can keep
several service instances running (with different availability models), and
can automatically restart and migrate services to satisfy the availability
requirements. It is based on the standard defined at saforum.org. It
includes an availability management framework, a message service, a lock
service, an event service, a checkpoint service, and much more.
Changes: This milestone represents a tested and stable version of the AIS
LOG service (initially provided in Beta 1.0.9), and the overall
"functionality complete" milestone for OpenSAF Release 2. No new features
will be added to Release 2 from this point on.

[039] - PHP Video Toolbox 0.1.5
by Oliver Lillie (http://freshmeat.net/users/buggedcom/)
Fri, Jun 6th 2008 10:35
Internet
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
About: PHP Video Toolbox is a PHP class that wraps around the FFmpeg,
FLVTools2, and Mencoder programs to allow PHP developers to manipulate and
convert video files in an easy-to-use object-oriented way. It also
currently provides FFmpeg-PHP emulation in pure PHP, so you wouldn't need
to compile and install the module. It isn't intended as a FFmpeg-PHP
replacement, only an alternative solution. It is recommended that if you
make heavy use of the FFmpeg-PHP functionality you should install the
module, as it is more efficient.
Changes: PHP4 class source was added. PHP notice errors were fixed.
flvStreamSeek() was added to provide streaming functionality for FLV
videos. A liblamemp3 problem was fixed. A dependancy on buffer exec output
to files was removed.

[040] - phpLogCon 2.3.5 (Development)
by deltaray (http://freshmeat.net/users/deltaray/)
Fri, Jun 6th 2008 16:44
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
About: phpLogCon is a Web front-end for syslog and other network event
data. It provides easy browsing and some basic analysis. Data are taken
from databases or plain syslog text files, so phpLogCon does not require
changes to an existing logging infrastructure. Depending on the log data
present, it can process syslog messages, Windows event log entries, and
some more exotic things. Its troubleshooting support enables users to
quickly find solutions to problems seen in the log data.
Changes: This release enhances the detection of IP addresses and domain
names, so the automatic generated context links match better now. There is
a new option (enabled by default) to resolve IP addresses into hostnames.
Note that this will only be done if the IP address is not in square
brackets. The resolved names will be cached in the user's session to speed
up the resolving process. The resolved IP addresses will be injected behind
the IP address in curly brackets and a different color.

[043] - rsyslog 3.19.6 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Fri, Jun 6th 2008 10:36
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among others, it
offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP, SSL,
TLS, and RELP, writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many
more), email alerting, fully configurable output formats (including
high-precision timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, on-the-wire message compression, and the ability to convert text
files to syslog. It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to
work with the same configuration file syntax.
Changes: This is primarily a bug-fixing release. It solves a couple of
issues in the TLS implementation, including one bug that could lead to peer
authentication failures. The release also provides enhanced regular
expression support inside fields, where now multiple matches are supported.
This is a recommended update for all development branch users.
