[002] - Adventure-(PHP-)Framework 1.7-BETA (PHP 5)
by Christian Achatz (http://freshmeat.net/users/ChristianAchatz/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 14:43
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: The Adventure-(PHP-)Framework is a Web development framework that
helps you design and create object oriented and reusable PHP Web
applications. It features a unique DOM model, the generic page controller
component, and a set of shipped XML tag libraries to build GUIs based on
XML/HTML templates. The framework core contains components like front
controller, global benchmark concept, global error handling, and a
configuration management class. It includes complete modules like a
guestbook, a comment function, and a generic pager.
Changes: Because of the introduction of the registry and a new
initialization process, complex configuration (INIT files) are gone and the
adaption of the core parameters is much easier. Thereby, the registry
contains not only the basic configuration parameters, but can also be used
as a central store for application parameters. Due to this large change,
the entire documentation was updated to fit the new configuration
techniques and the registry component. The class reference table now
contains a chapter about the usage of the registry, and the beginner
resources have been updated.

[005] - bdec 0.3.2
by Henry Ludemann (http://freshmeat.net/users/henryl/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 06:21
Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules
Utilities
About: bdec allows you to write specifications for existing binary formats
in a flexible XML-based syntax and have decoders automatically generated
for you. It is written in Python, and supports decoding to XML or Python
objects.
Changes: The C decoder memory is now freed. Decoders are validated with
valgrind. A new "release" script was added to simplify making new releases.
Sequence values are handled in the C decoder. Sequence values are printed
in the C decoder output. XML output no longer includes whitespace around
decoded values. Entry names are now allowed to use the "-" character. Speed
was improved when choosing between embedded choices. Bit buffers now
allocate their own memory (instead of reusing the input).

[007] - Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer 0.98
by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 12:12
Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack. But
even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.
Changes: Some cutscenes were fixed (such as Teeka not moving after crypt
battle). An alarm sound effect was added to Mission 10. Glass doors are now
visible again. Switches and features, such as save points and info points,
are no longer drawn when they shouldn't be. There were other miscellaneous
bug and level fixes made.

[022] - ICSILog 0.6 beta
by fractor (http://freshmeat.net/users/fractor/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 05:59
Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Libraries
About: ICSILog is a C-language implementation of a fast single-precision
approximation of the natural logarithm with adjustable accuracy. The core
idea is to use a quantized version of the mantissa of the input floating
point number as a pointer into a lookup table. The amount of quantization
of the mantissa determines the table size and therefore the accuracy.
Current processors are able to store relatively large lookup tables in
cache memory. Therefore an acceptable accuracy can be reached without too
many main memory accesses.

[038] - Rasqal RDF Query Library 0.9.16
by Dave Beckett (http://freshmeat.net/users/dajobe/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 06:12
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
About: Rasqal is a C library for querying RDF, supporting the RDQL and
SPARQL languages. It provides APIs for creating a query and parsing query
syntax. It features pluggable triple-store source and matching interfaces,
an engine for executing the queries and an API for manipulating results as
bindings. It uses the Raptor RDF parser to return triples from RDF content
and can alternatively work with the Redland RDF library's persistent triple
stores. It is portable across many POSIX systems.
Changes: A major API/ABI change was made, so Rasqal 0.9.16 is incompatible
with earlier releases. A new rasqal_world object was added and used for all
constructor functions. All deprecated functions and macros were removed.
Query result sets can now be read and written from sparql XML results
format. Error syntax error reporting was improved.

[039] - Redland RDF Libraries 1.0.8 (Development)
by Dave Beckett (http://freshmeat.net/users/dajobe/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 06:13
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Redland is a set of C libraries providing a high-level API for the
Resource Description Framework (RDF), allowing it to be stored, parsed,
serialized, queried, and manipulated. It has an object-based, modular
design and comes with detailed reference documentation and examples. APIs
are provided in C#, C, Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, Java, and Tcl. Redland
supports all RDF vocabularies such as FOAF, RSS 1.0, Dublin Core, DOAP, and
OWL, the query languages RDQL and SPARQL, and all RDF syntaxes including
Turtle, RDF/XML, RSS, Atom, and GRDDL.
Changes: Redland was updated to use the new Rasqal 0.9.16 API
(incompatible with earlier versions) and was updated to use Raptor 1.4.18.
A new "trees" indexed in-memory storage was added. Improvements were made
to low-memory and other failures of resource allocation. Some minor API
additions and changes were made to the concepts, parser, and serializer
classes.

[042] - srecord 1.43
by Peter Miller (http://freshmeat.net/users/pmiller/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 06:39
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
About: SRecord is a collection of powerful tools for manipulating EPROM
load files. It understands a number of file formats including Motorola
S-Record, Intel hex, Tektronix hex and binary, for both input and output.
SRecord filters include cropping, filling, splitting, joining, and more.
All filters may be applied to all file formats.
Changes: The srec-cat -data-only option has been broken down into four
separate controls. It is now possible to -enable and -disable individual
features, such as "header", "data-count", "execution-start-address", and
"footer". The srec_cat -start-address option was renamed
-execution-start-address due to confusion with -offset filter. Examples of
converting to and from binary files have been added to the srec_examples(1)
man page. A bug has been fixed in the MOS Tech format, so it now emits an
end record even when there is no execution start address passed in.

[049] - Units of measurement for Ada 2.8
by Dmitry Kazakov (http://freshmeat.net/users/kazakov/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 12:10
Scientific/Engineering
About: The library provides an implementation of dimensioned values for
Ada. Unit checks are made at run-time, if not optimized out by the
compiler. SI and irregular measurement units are supported. Shifted units
like degrees Celsius are supported too. Conversions from and back to
strings are provided for all various irregular units. An extensive set of
GTK widgets for dealing with dimensioned values is included, though use of
GTK is not mandatory for the rest of the library.
Changes: Conversion factors were verified and, when necessary, corrected.
The references to the sources are now provided in the documentation. The
irregular units dram, gill, and league were added. The SI derived unit
katal (kat) was added. The irregular unit candle was removed. Bq was moved
to derived SI units. The Unicode ounce sign is now supported for ounces. A
bug was fixed in Get_Value_As.

[050] - Urpkg 1.4
by Sebastien Vasey (http://freshmeat.net/users/svasey/)
Sun, Jul 6th 2008 21:21
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Systems Administration
Utilities
About: Urpkg is software to install programs in a safe and undoable way.
It is able to see what files any given installation command creates, and
list and remove them. You are able to restrict the installation command so
that it only writes where you allow it to, and does not overwrite files
from other packages. Urpkg is especially useful if you want to install
programs from source, or create binary packages in an automated way. Under
the hood, urpkg creates a user for each package it has to install, which
prevents the installation command from run with root privileges. It can be
seen as a "command tracer" that remembers what files a command created and
prevents it from doing forbidden things. It is written in C but relies on
some external commands, like GNU Find.
Changes: This release adds instructions to use urpkg to create Slackware
packages in the documentation. Urpkg can now install itself. Several
bugfixes and documentation clarifications were also made.
