[001] - AgileWiki 3-4 (Element Model)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Sun, Aug 10th 2008 19:02

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Services must now register for the service requests they can
process. Framework services are no longer distinguished from other services
and are fully extensible. Service requests now replace many of the
operations and events in Browse and RsBrowse.

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: Atanks is a multi-platform Scorched Earth clone similar to the
Worms series of games. Annihilate the other tanks to earn money, then spend
it on bigger and better shields and weapons to wipe out the opposition. It
features a wide array of weapons, AI players, destructible landscape,
weather, parachutes, teleports and a wide range of other features.

Changes: This release fixes a few bugs that caused crashes when trying to
load/start games. Some work was done to make the game work better with
Windows. Optionally, shots can now be set with time limits to speed up game
play.

Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Box is a programming language that puts special emphasis on
graphics. It is intended to be for vector graphics what LaTeX is for
writing scientific documents.

Changes: Improved text placing and formatting capabilities. Extension of
the Window.Save method: it can take a window and complete it (if it is
incomplete) or put the figure into it (if it is complete). A man page and
Ubuntu package. The source has been ported to Windows. Colors in HSV
components and RGB-HSV conversion. Linear or radial color gradients (see
Gradient[]). You can draw polygons with borders, controlling the join
style, cap style, dashes, and color. Style can be used to draw empty
polygons. In this case, the border is not closed in Poly unless
Poly.Close[] is used.

[006] - cpufrequtils 005
  by Dominik Broodwski (http://freshmeat.net/users/brodo/)
  Sun, Aug 10th 2008 19:03

System :: Hardware

About: The cpufrequtils package consists of a library which offers an
unified access method for userspace tools and programs to the CPU frequency
and voltage scaling (cpufreq) subsystem in the Linux kernel, the
"cpufreq-info" and "cpufreq-set" tools to determine and set cpufreq
settings, and debug tools helpful if frequency scaling doesn't work as
expected.

Changes: The cpufrequtils library can again rely on the (deprecated) proc
interface to the Linux kernel cpufreq subsystem. Furthermore, the cpufreq
mailing list changed, so update the address where bug reports are sent.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: OVal is a pragmatic and extensible validation framework for any
kind of Java objects (not only JavaBeans). Constraints can be configured
with annotations, POJOs, or XML. Custom constraints can be expressed in
pure Java or by using scripting languages such as JavaScript, Groovy, or
BeanShell. Besides simple object validation, OVal provides certain
Programming by Contract features. They can easily be enabled by using the
provided AspectJ aspects.

Changes: A constraint check exclusion feature that can be used for
fine-grained deactivation of constraints has been added. @MatchPattern can
now match against multiple patterns. Constraint configuration XSD has been
added as a replacement for the DTD. ConstraintViolation now provides more
details about the violated constraint (checkName, messageVariables, and
messageTemplate). Support has been added for using Spring AOP to enable
programming by contract for Spring managed beans. Usage of the probe mode
feature has been greatly simplified.

About: PDFResurrect is a tool aimed at analyzing PDF documents. The PDF
format allows for previous document changes to be retained in a more recent
version of the document, thereby creating a running history of changes for
the document. This tool attempts to extract all previous versions while
also producing a summary of changes between versions. It can also "scrub"
or write data over the original instances of PDF objects that have been
modified or deleted, in an effort to disguise information from previous
versions that might not be intended for anyone else to read.

[037] - Spectro-Edit 0.2
  by Jonathan Fuerth (http://freshmeat.net/users/jfuerth/)
  Sun, Aug 10th 2008 04:50

About: Spectro-Edit reads in regular PCM audio files, then shows the audio
visually in a time vs. frequency plot. The fun part is that you can "paint
out" any part of the visualization and play back the audio subject to your
modifications. When you are happy with the result, you can save your work
back to a WAV file. This could be useful for podcasting (edit out
microphone noise, chair squeaks, phones ringing, and other background
noise), music (make strange and unusual modifications to the sound for
artistic reasons), research (visualize animal calls or noise pollution from
nearby industrial activity), and general purpose geekery (which was the
original purpose).

Changes: Supports loading and saving of mono 16-bit PCM audio files (WAV
and AIFF). The user interface is still very basic; nonetheless, the program
is quite usable.

Communications :: Conferencing

About: Video Conference Flash Plugins provides Flash/ActionScript 3
plugins that provide the minimum functionality for accessing a webcam and
video - live or recorded - from a Flash Media Server such as OSflash Red5,

almost everything. They can be used to create video conferencing Web sites,
video chat sites, or YouTube clones.

Changes: receiveVideo has an experimental playback shuttle, which performs
as badly as other flash playback shuttles on Linux (badly). Single-click on
the position slider fails, but dragging works fine. It is released (as
experimental) out of curiosity in case it works under Windows.
