[001] - Anyterm 1.1.25 (Development)
  by Phil Endecott (http://freshmeat.net/users/endecotp/)
  Fri, Aug 15th 2008 17:29

Communications :: WAP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Terminals :: Terminal Emulators/X Terminals

About: Anyterm provides a terminal emulator on a Web page using Javascript
and an Apache module. The module forks a shell and communicates with the
script using XMLHTTP on port 80, or securely using SSL. This provides you
with shell access to your machine from almost any Web browser, even when
firewalls are in the way. Experimental features include support for
standalone operation without Apache, and the my.anyterm.org service
provides access without the need to install anything on your servers.

Changes: You can now specify a URL to which the browser will be redirected
once the terminal is closed. Copying to the clipboard should now work on
Mozilla-based browsers, if the appropriate security settings are in force.
Delete and backspace should now behave as expected in more programs. An
untested change may make keyboard input work on Safari again.

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: aria2 is a utility for downloading files. The supported protocols
are HTTP(S), FTP, BitTorrent, and Metalink. It has a powerful segmented
downloading ability, downloading a file from multiple sources and multiple
protocols and utilizing your download bandwidth to the maximum. It supports
downloading a file from HTTP(S)/FTP and BitTorrent at the same time, while
the data downloaded from HTTP(S)/FTP is uploaded to the BitTorrent swarm.
Using Metalink's chunk checksums, aria2 automatically validates chunks of
data while downloading a file like BitTorrent.

Changes: This release fixes a memory leak and an occasional assertion
failure bug. Danish and Greek translations were added. Catalan, Norwegian
Nynorsk, and Spanish translations were updated.

[003] - Auto Project Planner 2.3 (APP.NET)
  by Dietmar Schinnerl (http://freshmeat.net/users/dondidi/)
  Fri, Aug 15th 2008 17:31

Desktop Environment :: Tools
Office/Business
Office/Business :: CRM

About: Auto Project Planner automatically calculates a proper project plan
based on your effort estimations and the due dates you have in mind. A list
of tasks and a list of employees can be defined. Tasks can be assigned to
one or more employees. It is also possible to define a maximum percentage
value an employee can/should work on a task. Public holidays, leaves,
weekly working hours, and more parameters can be specified and are
considered in the calculation. According to this input, the software
computes time plans by minimizing the MSE (mean squared error) between
expected and computed end dates.

Changes: It is possible to arrange tasks and workers. The drag and drop
problem is fixed and the GUI has been reworked.

Desktop Environment :: Window Managers

About: awesome is a highly configurable, next generation framework window
manager for X. It is very fast, light, and extensible. It is primarily
targeted at the power user, developer, and anyone dealing with everyday
computing tasks who wants to have fine-grained control over a graphical
environment.

Changes: This release fixes the systray widget to work with KDE apps and
makes Zaphod mode work again. It adds a history for the prompt.

  by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
  Fri, Aug 15th 2008 13:03

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast PHP template engine written in C and
compiled as a PHP extension. It started as a php_templates replacement, but
developed into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers
(custom view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in
HTML). Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for
PHP, even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to a
smart MVC-like architecture model with maximal separation of HTML from your
code. It was designed for big high-load Internet projects with a lot of
complex presentation logic.

Changes: Path-variables ($object.property.something and
$hash.key.something) in IF/UNLESS multi-line blocks have been fixed. Minor
win32-compilation fixes have been made.

Education :: Computer Aided Instruction (CAI)
Games/Entertainment

About: Brain Workshop is an implementation of the Dual N-Back mental
exercise. This exercise is the only mental activity that is scientifically
proven to improve your short-term memory and fluid intelligence (IQ). The
game involves remembering a sequence of spoken letters and a sequence of
positions of a square at the same time. Brain Workshop includes an optional
Triple N-Back mode that introduces differently colored squares as a third
stimulus.

Changes: This release adds one new music clip, displays an encouraging
message if you get below 40%, and adds a workaround for the OpenGL
MissingFunctionException which occurs on certain video cards.

  by lodger (http://freshmeat.net/users/lodger/)
  Fri, Aug 15th 2008 17:18

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: microQuestMaker64 is a native Commodore 64 application that makes
it easy to design small text adventure games in the tradition of "Zork" or
the legendary "Cave" adventure. It will run in an emulator as well as on
native C64 hardware. At the moment, it supports up to 100 rooms and 30
objects within a single game. Although the program is still incomplete and
under development, you can already edit rooms, define objects, and test-run
your game. Game data is stored in the Commodore "REL" file format, allowing
random access of records.

Changes: Extended object attributes: an object can now be defined as a
"container" (e.g. a box), so other objects can be placed in it. There are
four new commands (open, close, lock, and unlock) that can be used with the
new "container object" attribute. The drop/put command has been extended
for use with container objects, so you can now type "put x into y". An
object can be defined to act as a key in order to lock/unlock a container
object. You can specify a drive number for each game data file.

About: process-getopt is a wrapper around getopt(1) for bash that allows a
developer to define command line options with their descriptions through a
single function call. These definitions are then used in runtime processing
of command line options as well as in generating help and man pages. This
results in more internal consistency in bash scripts, particularly when
they are maintained and changed later. It also saves a little time in
coding and producing nicely formatted documentation. It is quite similar to
GNU's argp in glibc for compiled languages. Samples and a manual are

About: TAU (Tuning and Analysis Utilities) is a set of tools for analyzing
the performance of C, C++, Fortran and Java programs. It collects much more
information than is available through prof or gprof, the standard Unix
utilities, including per-process, per-thread, and per-host information,
inclusive and exclusive function times, profiling groups that allow you to
organize data collection, access to hardware counters on some systems,
per-class and per-instance information, the ability to separate data for
each template instantiation, start/stop timers for profiling arbitrary
sections of code, and support for collection of statistics on user-defined
events.

Changes: This release expands the ability of tau_instrumentor to insert
generic tool-specific instrumentation to code. TAU now supports generation
of selective instrumentation files in paraprof. ParaProf can now bring up
separate windows for each metric to allow users to compare multiple metrics
