[001] - abcm2ps 5.9.1 (Development)
by Guido Gonzato (http://freshmeat.net/users/goccia/)
Thu, Oct 2nd 2008 10:14
Printing
About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to print
baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or more
keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the ABC
language that make it suitable for classical music.
Changes: The decorations +/+, +//+, and +///+ (which place tremolo on one
note) were added. Several major bugs were fixed.

About: The Amahi Home Server is a Linux Home Server based on Fedora (and
later on Ubuntu). Your machine becomes a "Home Digital Assistant" or HDA
after the installation. Each HDA is a Fedora-based server targeted for home
and home office environments. It provides an iTunes server, calendaring, a
wiki, shared network storage, network backups, a printer server, VPN, and a
plug-in architecture built on Ruby on Rails.
Changes: This release has a new home page for the Amahi Slideshow app that
allows users to launch the CoolIris slideshow on their pictures by simply
clicking an icon on the Web page. If the user has the CoolIris plugin
installed, it will launch the 3D wall; otherwise, it will launch a
Javascript-based slideshow.

About: Blosxom (pronounced "Blossom") is a lightweight yet feature-packed
Weblog application designed from the ground up with simplicity, usability,
and interoperability in mind. Fundamental is its reliance upon the file
system, folders, and files as its content database. Users can create, edit,
rename, and delete entries on the command-line, via FTP, WebDAV, or
anything else they might use to manipulate their files.
Changes: This release fixes a cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw that allowed
malicious users to inject HTML and JavaScript code into Blosxom's error
page and possibly also the output of some plugins and non-default
templates. (CVE-2008-2236)

everything needed for the user to have the enhanced viewer running quickly.
This includes pre-built binaries of the viewer and utility programs for
Windows and many Unix variants, and a GUI to configure and launch the
viewer. The short name for this project is "ssvnc", for SSL/SSH VNC viewer.
Changes: This release supports the UltraVNC repeater proxy and Single
Click connection modes. SOCKS proxies and proxy chaining now work on
Windows. UltraVNC file transfer is much improved. UltraVNC DSM encryption
and general symmetric encryption modes are supported. Local machine port
protection mechanisms are provided. A new option selects the X11 VNC Viewer
on Mac OS X. The ZYWRLE encoding (a wavelet based extension to ZRLE) was

About: LinuxConsole is a live and modular Linux distribution that can be
started from CD/DVD, Hard disk, floppy disk, USB disk, or network card

About: Marvim is a macro storage system for Vim. It enables users to
store, organize, retrieve, and share macros under a structured namespace.
By default, macros are stored under a namespace taken from the file type
(e.g. PHP) and quickly recalled for use through auto-completion on the VIM
command line. It is ideally suited for storing those repetitive tasks that
are performed in a particular programming language or file type. It also
supports templates.

[030] - Midgard Components Framework 8.09.0RC2 (Development)
by Piotr Pokora (http://freshmeat.net/users/piotras/)
Thu, Oct 2nd 2008 15:36
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: The Midgard Components Framework (also called MidCOM) is an
advanced component architecture which extends the Midgard Web content
management framework. It provides mechanisms for building a Web site using
components without much need for writing code to glue all this together.
The administration site gets built automatically by using those components.
Goodies like a caching engine and subrequests make site building even
easier.
Changes: This version is meant to ease transition from Web services using
the deprecated Midgard 1.x APIs to the new Midgard2 architecture. Because
of this, this release provides both API versions. This means that it can be
used to run both Midgard 1 applications like the version 2.9 of the MidCOM
component framework, and Midgard2 applications like MidCOM3.

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
About: The OHRRPGCE (RPG Construction Engine) is a tool for making your
own retro 2D RPG games, in a style similar to RPGs like the older Final
Fantasy games for the NES, SNES, or GBA. It includes, as an example game,
Fenrir-Lunaris's pixel-art masterpiece "Vikings of Midgard".
Changes: This release adds text-box-related improvements such as character
portraits, customizable borders, and special menu triggering. The limit of
36 unique NPCs per map has been raised to 100. A text box exporter has been
added so you can edit or spell check your dialog in an external editor and
re-import it. A bug that could potentially cause crashes with OGG music has
been fixed. There are various other minor fixes and improvements.

Education :: Computer Aided Instruction (CAI)
Home Automation
Software Development :: Libraries
About: picloader is a small bootloader for Microchip (TM) PIC16F88
devices. It means that it loads the program from the serial port and writes
it in program memory. A chip programmed with picloader starts waiting for
about two seconds for the special character '!', and after this it starts
reading the program in machine code format. picloader can be used in
addition of pigrammar, the official picloader programmer.
Changes: This release has switched to "picloader". It is now a bootloader
for PIC16F88 devices and reads directly from the serial port the machine
code. It offers major program memory space for user programs, and the chip
can very often be programmed with minimal hardware requests and time
requirements.

About: Quagga is a routing software suite, providing implementations of
OSPF 2, OSPF 3, RIP 1 and 2, RIP 3 and BGP 4 for Unix platforms,
particularly FreeBSD, Linux, and NetBSD.
Changes: This release was intentionally prepared as a release candidate
with most regressions addressed. Users of all 0.99.x and 0.98.x branches
are advised to upgrade to 0.99.11, so the next stable branch can be started
as early as possible. Particular changes include initial bgpd TCP-MD5

[038] - RackTables 0.16.3
by Pilot (http://freshmeat.net/users/infrastation/)
Thu, Oct 2nd 2008 10:13
Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management :: Records Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: RackTables is a tool to manage tens of racks, hundreds of servers,
and thousands of MAC and IP addresses. It will work with a single rack as
well. It features a real-life rackspace model, typed rack objects with
flexible attribute sets, a tagging system, IP address management ready for
NAT, virtual routers and load balancers, accurate network connection
handling, a universal search function, a multi-user access model, and an
extensible dictionary.
Changes: This release fixes a lot of minor bugs and introduces two notable
changes into the user interface. First is that RackCode editing is now more
convenient due to syntax highlighting and an improved semantic checker.
Second is that IPv4 networks aren't a flat list any more, but group
themselves into a tree according to the standard CIDR relations. Several
database structure issues have also been fixed.

Information Management :: Workflow Frameworks
Software Development
About: Releaser is a set of scripts to automate and manage the tasks
related to software package releases. It is designed to be modular and to
make it easy to both select a particular set of actions associated with
releases of a particular project (such as changelog generation, uploading
of tarballs, posting announcements to mailing lists), and create new
actions that integrate seamlessly into the process. Its status is still
somewhat experimental, but the most basic functionality is there.
Changes: This release uses mercurial's "archive" command to build tarballs
instead of doing so with tar. The automatic news item post to werc has been
fixed. This release tries to make changelog-hg work even when no tag is set
in the repository (e.g. for the initial run). If ispell is available, it is
used to spell check the changelog. There is a better usage message. tag-hg
has been moved to post. There are other minor fixes and improvements.
