[002] - alterMIME Pro 1.1.08527
by Paul L Daniels (http://freshmeat.net/users/pldaniels/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 01:54
Communications :: Email :: Filters
About: alterMIME Pro is a server-side application that integrates with
your existing Postfix, Sendmail, and Exim installations to provide
disclaimer and X-header insertion facilities for email messages. Management
is made easy via the Web administration tool. alterMIME Pro is designed
with ease of use and email safety in mind. It was built on the alterMIME
engine and extended with the most commonly wanted facilities.
Changes: This release corrects administration session handling for certain
installation environments. An online PDF manual has been updated.
Preliminary Exim support has been added.

[003] - Anyterm 1.1.26 (Development)
by Phil Endecott (http://freshmeat.net/users/endecotp/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 23:52
Communications :: WAP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Terminals :: Terminal Emulators/X Terminals
About: Anyterm provides a terminal emulator on a Web page using Javascript
and a server daemon. The daemon typically runs behind an HTTP proxy; it
forks a shell and communicates with the script using XMLHTTP on port 80 or
securely using SSL. This provides you with shell access to your machine
from almost any Web browser, even when firewalls are in the way. The
my.anyterm.org service provides access without the need to install anything
on your servers.
Changes: In this release, the old Apache module has been removed. Using
the stand-alone Anyterm daemon in combination with Apache's mod_proxy is
now the recommended configuration. Although this is at least as stable and
feature-full as the old Apache module, the documentation remains less
mature; installation reports are welcome.

Software Development :: Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: Arabica is an XML toolkit written in Standard C++. It provides SAX,
DOM, XPath, and partial XSLT implementations. It delivers UTF-8 encoded
std::strings or UCS-2 std::wstrings, but can also accommodate custom string
types and alternative encodings.
Changes: Taggle, a port of John Cowan's TagSoup package, was added. Taggle
parses HTML as found in the wild, generating a well-formed stream of SAX
events. The Taggle interface is identical to Arabica's XML parser, allowing
HTML to be processed with XML tools.

[006] - Back In Time 0.6.4
by Dan (http://freshmeat.net/users/danleweb/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 12:08
System :: Archiving :: Backup
Utilities
About: Back In Time is a simple backup system for the GNOME desktop
inspired by the "flyback project" and "TimeVault". The backup is done by
taking snapshots of a specified set of directories. All you have to do is
configure: where to save snapshot, what directories to backup, and when a
backup should be done (manually, every hour, every day, every week, or
every month). It acts as a "user mode" backup system. This means that you
can backup and restore only folders to which you have write access.
Changes: The About and Settings dialogs were removed from the pager. Only
one instance of the application is allowed.

[008] - C++ Sockets 2.3.1
by Grymse (http://freshmeat.net/users/ah7207/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 12:17
Communications
System :: Networking
About: C++ Sockets is a cross-platform C++ wrapper for BSD-style sockets.
It implements the TCP, UDP, ICMP, and SCTP transport layer protocols.
Implemented application layer protocols are HTTP/HTTPS (using OpenSSL),
SMTP (server), and Ajp/1.3 (server). Features include transparent SOCKS4
client support and asynchronous DNS. Included in the library are a number
of HTTP client functions such as GET/PUT/POST, and also Web server
framework components.
Changes: The Remove() method in SocketHandler was changed from private to
protected. Utility::Stack was added, which returns a stack walk (currently
in Linux only). The $(DESTDIR) variable was added in the Makefile for more
flexible installation. The timeout value is now reset before OnTimeout() is
called, making it possible to set a new timeout value in the OnTimeout()
method.

[010] - Connect Daily Web Calendar 3.4.1
by George Sexton (http://freshmeat.net/users/gsexton/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 18:13
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
About: Connect Daily is a Web calendar and resource management
application. Features include unlimited users, email reminders, public and
private calendars, AJAX support, RSS, CSV import/export, and iCal support.
Planner views and approvals prevent double-booking resources and make
managing your facility a snap. A powerful security system provides flexible
permission control. Authentication via LDAP or Active Directory is
supported.
Changes: This release improves the appearance and layout of the drop-down
menu. It changes the default day span on RSS feeds to be all events if no
day span is specified. It fixes problems in notification/reminder code
introduced by the iCal Attachment change. If the SQL Command Window
statement is not SELECT, the statement type is set to exec by default. An
NPE if you tried to import a non-XML file from the RSS Import screen and an
NPE in the InstanceOrSeries dialog triggered by robots have been fixed.
Email errors in approver notification now go to the audit trail log.

[011] - CrissCross 0.7.2
by moz (http://freshmeat.net/users/mozillagodzilla/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 04:19
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: CrissCross is a small cross-platform C++ library for console and
file I/O, CPU identification (CPUID), hashing (MD2, MD4, MD5, SHA-1,
SHA-256, SHA-512, Tiger), sockets (TCP and UDP only currently), and data
structures (LList, DArray, RedBlackTree, AVLTree, SplayTree, etc). It is
designed to run on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Mac OS X, and
even the Nintendo DS. Other platforms may become supported upon request.
The main idea is to provide the ability to write a program using identical
calls on the major platforms without needing to rewrite code.
Changes: The old build system was removed in favor of CMake. A few memory
leaks have been fixed in CPUID. Support has been added for DEC Alpha and
Sun SPARC (running Linux). 'flushArray' and 'flush' have been added to
DArray to allow for simpler deletion of contained data. Stopwatch::Clocks()
has been removed because only Windows seemed to have decent support.
HashTable is now usable and is no longer considered experimental. A major
findRecursive() bug (in which the result might not actually be found) has
been corrected in AVLTree, RedBlackTree, and SplayTree. The test suite is
now a bit more zealous about checking everything.

[012] - CUT 2.6
by Samuel A. Falvo II (http://freshmeat.net/users/kc5tja/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 18:18
Software Development :: Bug Tracking
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Debuggers
About: CUT is a unit-testing framework for C, C++, and Objective-C. Unlike
other unit testing tools, CUT doesn't strive to be an SUnit clone. It
automates a lot of the drudge work often encountered when using other unit
testing packages for the C family of programming languages. CUT may also be
used to unit-test assembly language software in some circumstances.
Changes: This release supports test setups (whose semantics match those in
the various xUnit clones) via the __CUT_SETUP__ tagged procedures. Setups
and bringups may be nested to any reasonable depth as well. Test runners
now require --break-at to set a breakpoint. Use --verbose to find
breakpoint numbers. The output format has changed drastically, making
integration with other development tools easier.

[013] - DBsight 2.0 (Upgrade)
by Chris (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrislusf/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 00:55
Database
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
About: DBSight is a J2EE search platform for instant scalable full-text
search on any relational database, for both beginners and experts. It
features a built-in database crawler following user-defined SQL,
incremental indexing, user-controllable result ranking, the ability to
return results with highlights (like Google), and categorized result counts
(like Amazon). It can easily integrate with other languages with
XML/JSON/HTML. There is a UI for all operations, so no Java coding is
necessary. Deleted or updated records in database can be synchronized also.
Changes: A new Scaffolding Engine for more flexible result page rendering
has been added. Developers can create customized reusable scaffolding. A
Tag cloud scaffold has been added. It is easier to add JDBC libraries. The
performance of SQL retrieval has been greatly enhanced by batching SQL.

[017] - dtrx 6.3
by Brett Smith (http://freshmeat.net/users/bretts/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 04:19
About: dtrx intelligently extracts many different archive types. It will
get the contents from tar, zip, rpm, deb, and cpio archives, as well as
compressed files, with one simple command. It helps keep your filesystem
sane by putting every archive's contents into a dedicated directory, and
making sure the owner can read and write whatever's extracted. It can even
recursively extract archives.
Changes: This release adds support for RAR archives. It also fixes a bug
that caused dtrx to crash when extracting certain kinds of archives with
the -v option, and avoids spurious warnings under Python 2.6.

Software Development
About: EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC
25436, and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes: Eiffel compiler,
Eiffel editor, Eiffel code browsing tool, graphical design tool,
refactoring tool, debugger, profiler, and Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics,
Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel
applies O-O principles and Design by Contract for high-quality software.
Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing
(including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.
Changes: This release fixes an issue with the Windows installer improperly
registering the .NET consumer. It fixes some issues with the .NET code
generation when generating code for manifest arrays/tuples or agents. It
fixes a bug in SORTED_TWO_WAY_LIST when duplicating it would only duplicate
the head, not the entire list; this might break descendant code. It fixes a
bug in code completion where, if you have some comments containing a
feature reference, it would simply not compile.

About: folder2blog is a minimalist blog engine based on plain text. You
maintain a folder of text files, one for each article, and folder2blog
dynamically maps it to blog-ish HTML/RSS2 output. Comments are appended to
each text file. Managing articles/comments now becomes creating or editing
text files. For example, all you do is edit a local folder of plain text
files and sync it with the server, manually or using tools such as rsync,
over SSH or FTP. The encoding may be anything (UTF-8 by default). The HTML
formatter is any external program, such as markdown, that may act as a

About: Jailer is a tool for model-based data exporting, schema browsing,
and rendering. It exports consistent, referentially intact row-sets from
relational databases. It removes obsolete data without violating integrity.
It is DBMS agnostic (by using JDBC), platform independent, and generates
hierarchically structured XML and topologically sorted SQL-DML.
Changes: Additional type arguments will now be removed from the result of
DatabaseMetaData#getColumns (for better compatibility with MS SQL Server).
The table name in insert statements for BLOB/CLOBs in generated SQL scripts
is now qualified with target schema name. A bug concering the importation
of BLOB/CLOBs into non-nullable columns was fixed. The pattern for
timestamp values in generated SQL scripts for oracle DBMS is now fixed
(using the to_timestamp function).

[033] - libv4l 0.5.1
by Moritz Barsnick (http://freshmeat.net/users/barsnick/)
Mon, Oct 20th 2008 17:54
Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Hardware
About: libv4l is a collection of libraries that adds a thin abstraction
layer on top of video4linux2 (V4L2) devices. The purpose of this layer is
to make it easy for application writers to support a wide variety of
devices without having to write separate code for different devices in the
same class. It consists of 3 different libraries. libv4lconvert offers
functions to convert from any (known) pixel format to V4l2_PIX_FMT_BGR24 or
V4l2_PIX_FMT_YUV420. libv4l1 offers the (deprecated) v4l1 API on top of
v4l2 devices, independent of the drivers for those devices supporting v4l1
compatibility (which many v4l2 drivers do not). libv4l2 offers the v4l2 API
on top of v4l2 devices, while adding for the application transparent
libv4lconvert conversion where necessary.
Changes: Support for software cropping was added. This allows applications
that will only work with VGA resolutions, most notably Skype, to function
with Web cams providing only the slightly varying CIF resolutions. The
v4lconvert_convert() function was split functionally into separate
functions v4lconvert_convert_pixfmt(), v4lconvert_rotate(), and
v4lconvert_crop(). Wrapper libs are no longer linked against pthread.
