About: AgileWiki is an SDK for assembling software systems which are
fluid, easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever
changing requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics
programming paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Access control is now in place. Relations were reworked to
support incremental inferencing.

[002] - Astaro Command Center 1.903 (Beta)
  by astaro (http://freshmeat.net/users/astaro/)
  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 17:17

Internet
Security
System :: Networking

About: Astaro Command Center (ACC) is an application for centralized
management of Astaros gateway products. With ACC, network administrators
can easily manage and control multiple Astaro devices. The two separated
Web-Based GUIs (WebAdmin and Gateway Manager) enable the split of
ACC-system administration and role-based Gateway monitoring and can be also
implemented in existing Active Directory or eDirectory environments.
provides an effective overview that details the actual health of each
device, swiftly allowing administrators to see which gateways require more
attention or immediate action (by reason of e.g. threat level, license, or
CPU/memory/disk usage). Over the one-click WebAdmin SSO to each connected
gateway, it is possible to react instantly if necessary.

Changes: This is a stability release. It fixes some minor issues. It also
supports new and upgraded appliance models in accordance with the Astaro
Gateway Product line Up2Date 7.306.

[003] - Asymptote 1.62
  by John Bowman (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcbowman/)

Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Scientific/Engineering

About: Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of
script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods.
High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself,
allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.

Changes: Outputting PDF format to other directories was fixed. An int
hex(string) function that casts a hexidecimal string to an integer and a
pen rgb(string) routine that returns a pen corresponding to a given
6-character RGB hexidecimal string were added. In the dot routines, Label
arguments were added and minor bugs were fixed. A parametric version of
markuniform was added.

[004] - ATA over Ethernet driver 70 (For Linux 2.6)
  by Ed Cashin at Coraid (http://freshmeat.net/users/ecashinCoraid/)
  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 18:31

System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: This driver allows the Linux kernel to use the ATA over Ethernet
(AoE) network protocol. Using AoE, a Linux system can use AoE block devices
like EtherDrive (R) storage blades. The block devices appear as local
device nodes (e.g. /dev/etherd/e0.0).

Changes: The robustness of the driver's retransmission algorithm in the
face of lossy networks was improved. Runtime SKB_BUG warnings about skb
truesize were eliminated. Compatibility was extended to later kernels and
improved. Remote addresses that are not handling I/O requests are avoided
more consistently. A race between discovery and device flushing was
eliminated. The build system was improved to do only necessary work.

  by Dan (http://freshmeat.net/users/danleweb/)
  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 18:00

System :: Archiving :: Backup
Utilities

About: Back In Time is a simple backup system for Linux (Gnome & KDE4)
inspired by the "flyback project" and "TimeVault". The backup is done by
taking snapshots of a specified set of directories. All you have to do is
configure: where to save snapshot, what directories to backup, and when a
backup should be done (manually, every hour, every day, every week, or
every month). It acts as a "user mode" backup system. This means that you
can backup and restore only folders to which you have write access.

Changes: The Spanish and German translations were updated. The docbook was
updated for GNOME. A snapshots dialog was added for KDE4. An "update
snapshots" button was added for GNOME and KDE4. Special folder icons are
handled for GNOME.

  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 18:53

Database
Office/Business
Software Development

About: EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC
25436, and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes: Eiffel compiler,
Eiffel editor, Eiffel code browsing tool, Eiffel testing tool, graphical
design tool, refactoring tool, debugger, profiler, and Eiffel analysis
tools (Metrics, Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or CLI for .NET or
Mono. Eiffel applies O-O principles and Design by Contract for high-quality
software. Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database,
parsing (including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.

Changes: Eiffel2Java and EiffelWeb are void-safe. The compiler has been
improved for attached attribute initialization in creation procedures (it
now detects not only by inspecting the top-level instructions, but also the
nested complex instructions with several possible execution paths, like
conditional instruction, multi-branch, etc.). An issue with generated tests
that were too long because minimization failed is fixed. Breaking changes
have been introduced in the class CELL so that it can be used in both
void-safe and non-void-safe mode; users have to remove the use of
'default_create' as creation procedure in their code.

  by fooscope (http://freshmeat.net/users/fooscope/)
  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 10:18

Communications

About: gumnut is a program to find the most supported proposals within
large groups of people. The text or GUI client can create, moderate, and
display proposals over a decentralized communication network (currently
Gnutella). Proposals are text files with a simple naming convention that
uses the filename to describe field attributes (such as topic and
geographical location). Popular proposals are found by searching on one or
more of these fields and then calculating the support for each proposal
based on the number of occurrences on the network.

Changes: This version was modified to retrieve and use an externally
visible IP address, which now allows gumnut to connect over the Internet if
on a NATed host. Changes from version 0.2.5 were also included.

[031] - LaserCalc 0.2alpha
  by Udo Eisenbarth (http://freshmeat.net/users/sixties_lover/)
  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 21:07

Scientific/Engineering :: Physics

About: LaserCalc is a tool to calculate optical paths and resonators based
on Gaussian beam matrix optics. Optical elements such as lenses or
distances can be set up to an optical path. An input beam parameter (z & w
value) as well as the wavelength can be set. The programm calculates the
propagation of the beam along the path. For an optical resonator, the TEM00
Eigenmode of a given wavelength is automatically calculated. Furthermore, a
stability parameter is derived.

Changes: This version comes with a new GUI concept that allows a more
flexible way of working. Further path and cavity parameters are calculated.
The cavity analysis module can now calculate linear and ring resonators. A
documentation update has been started (but is not yet finished).

About: Openbakery Translation is an internationalization tool for Java.
Unlike standard i18n in Java, openbakery translation uses the text in the
default locale as the key. There is also a tool which checks all of the
source code for translations. This tool then provides a list of key/value
pairs which have to be added to a certain resource file, and another list
of pairs which can be removed. The translation works by simply calling a
static method called "translate". The code works out of the box, without
writing any properties files. You only write properties files when you
really translate the program to a second language.

  Mon, Feb 9th 2009 03:06

Internet :: Log Analysis
Security
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Ruby Nmap::Parser Library provides a Ruby interface to Nmap's scan
data. It can run Nmap and parse its XML output directly from the scan,
parse a file containing the XML data from a separate scan, parse a String
of XML data from a scan, or parse XML data from an object via its read()
method. This information is presented in an easy-to-use and intuitive
fashion for storage and manipulation.

Changes: This release fixes a state matching bug in methods like
tcp_ports() in which a specified state would sometimes match an unrelated
one. Now these methods properly match all states exactly as well as
combinations like "open|filtered", as they should. parsestring() has been
added to parse a string of XML data. A compare method has been added to
ExtraPorts and Traceroute::Hop. scan_time in ::Session has been updated to
use the new "elapsed" attribute. Exception messages raised by the library
are improved. There are many documentation and general code improvements.
