Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Hardware

About: amforth is a Forth distribution for the the AVR Atmega
microcontroller family. Once put into flash, it needs only a serial
connection to the host computer to work interactively. New words are
compiled directly into flash, thus extending the dictionary immediately. It
provides most of the ANS94 Forth Standard plus extensions. It is written in
AVR standard assembly language and Forth itself.

Changes: Besides some minor bugfixes and better error handling, this
release adds the ANS94 Search Order Extension Wordlist.

About: Berkeley Yacc (byacc) is a high-quality yacc variant. In contrast
to Bison, it is written to avoid dependencies upon a particular compiler.
It was written around 1990 by Robert Corbett, the original author of Bison.
This version has been modified to conform to ANSI C.

Changes: The declaration of yylval was restored to the skeleton, as it was
omitted in the fixes made in 20080824.

  by Matteo Franchin (http://freshmeat.net/users/fnch/)
  Sun, Feb 22nd 2009 11:06

Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Box is a programming language that puts special emphasis on
graphics. It is intended to be for vector graphics what LaTeX is for
writing scientific documents.

Changes: Copying of objects is now implemented, though it does not work
for "complex" objects, such as Str. 'include "file"' searches for files
inside the directory containing the script. The #provide directive was
introduced for multiple inclusions of the same header. Comments can start
with #! (for Box scripts on Unix). Some information was added to the -q
query option. Systematic versioning conventions and scripts are now used to
help maintainers deal automatically with the issue. Bugfixes and cleanup
were done. The libboxcore library was created.

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security

About: CacheGuard is a Linux-based OS/appliance dedicated to Web traffic
security and optimization. It transforms an x86-based machine into a
powerful Web gateway appliance. It allows you to control Web traffic for
Web surfers and Web servers by acting as a forwarding and reverse HTTP /
HTTPS proxy. It supports HTTP transparent implementation, HTTP compression,
Web caching, URL black- and whitelist guarding, and Web server load
balancing. It features a stateful firewall with NAT and PAT, and a content
filtering module blocking malicious HTTP requests like XSS, SQL and Command
Injection. It integrates a caching DNS, a DHCP server, a bandwidth shaper
to manage the QoS, a load sharing system, and an HA (high availability)
mode with VRRP and link bonding.

Changes: The syntax of the "guard" command has been changed and new guard
management features have been added to the appliance. An option allows you
to update an existing blacklist category from a diff file. A second option
allows you to automatically update a blacklist category since the last
update/create date until today. It is also possible to program automatic
blacklist category updates. The blacklist category save option has been
removed.

  Sun, Feb 22nd 2009 12:15

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules
Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: Perl::Critic is an extensible framework for creating and applying
coding standards to Perl source code. Essentially, it is a static source
code analysis engine. It is distributed with a number of
Perl::Critic::Policy modules that attempt to enforce various coding
guidelines. Most Policy modules are based on Damian Conway's book Perl Best
Practices. However, Perl::Critic is not limited to PBP, and will even
support Policies that contradict Conway. You can enable, disable, and
customize those Polices through the Perl::Critic interface. You can also
create new Policy modules that suit your own tastes.

Changes: The ValuesAndExpressions::ProhibitSpecialLiteralHeredocTerminator
policy was added. Several policies were updated. Many bugs were fixed.

  Sun, Feb 22nd 2009 12:51

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: transcode is a text console video-stream processing tool. It
supports elementary video and audio frame transformations. Some example
modules are included to enable import of MPEG-1/2, Digital Video, and other
formats. It also includes export modules for writing to AVI files with
DivX, OpenDivX, XviD, Digital Video or other codecs. Direct DVD transcoding
is also supported. A set of tools is available to extract and decode the
sources into raw video/audio streams for import and to enable
post-processing of AVI files.

Changes: The import_imlist module is deprecated. Use --multi_input -x im
instead. The dectectclipping filter is now allowed to use a log file. A big
YAIT update was done. The "frame" option was added to filter_text.
tcmodinfo linking and loading problems were resolved.

Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System :: Networking :: LDAP

About: web2ldap is a full-featured Web-based LDAPv3 client written in
Python. It is designed to run either as with stand-alone built-in Web
server or under the control of another Web server with FastCGI support
(e.g. Apache with mod_fastcgi). It has support for various LDAPv3 bind
methods and a powerful built-in schema browser. HTML templates are
supported for displaying and editing entries, and LDIF templates can be
used for quickly adding new entries. A built-in X.509 parser displays a
detailed view of certificates and CRLs with active links.

Changes: A fix was made in the plugin-class DynamicValueSelectList. A
work-around was made for a bug in OpenLDAP when generating a diff for the
object class list.

[044] - Webtunnel 0.0.3
  by Janos Szatmary (http://freshmeat.net/users/jszatmary/)
  Sun, Feb 22nd 2009 12:33

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Security
System :: Networking

About: Webtunnel is a network utility that encapsulates arbitrary data in
HTTP and transmits it through a Web server. In that regard, it is similar
to httptunnel. However, its server component runs in the context of a Web
server as a CGI application (with optional FastCGI support), so it does not
need its own port. It supports most things that the Web server supports,
such as authentication, HTTP 1.1, HTTPS, and client certificates. It uses
simple requests and responses so it works seamlessly through forward and
reverse proxies.

Changes: The server now waits for children to fix problems with zombies
under FastCGI. User authentication based on HTTP user was added. Access
control lists based on user were added. The default debug level was changed
to 1. Some command line behavior was changed.
