Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: Adaptive Website Framework (AWF) is a Web content management
system. Most of its code is object-oriented and very easy to extend. It
features version and link management, support for multiple Web sites and
languages, a modular full-text search engine, compatibility with Mediawiki
code, and validated XHTML templates. Fully flexible URLs allow the
replacement of existing static Web sites.
Changes: This beta release features a new modular full-text search engine,
a lexicon document type, support for Mediawiki code, an extensible shortcut
system, which allows easy linking of documents and images, as well as XHTML
1.0 templates. The demo Web site has been updated.

by M. Leo Cooper (http://freshmeat.net/users/thegrendel/)
Wed, Feb 9th 2005 16:10
Education
Software Development :: Documentation
System :: Systems Administration
About: The Advanced Bash Scripting Guide is both a reference and a
tutorial on shell scripting. This comprehensive book (the equivalent of
about 636 print pages) covers almost every aspect of shell scripting. It
contains over 300 profusely commented illustrative examples (including
such goodies as an anti-spammer script), and a number of tables. Not just
a shell scripting tutorial, this book also provides an introduction to
basic programming techniques, such as sorting and recursion. It is well
suited for either individual study or classroom use.
Changes: Many bugfixes. Much more material and several example scripts
have been added. A few existing sample scripts have been cleaned up and
enhanced. This release is actually somewhere between a minor and a major
update.

by John (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnb003/)
Wed, Feb 9th 2005 03:58
Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Animadead is a skeletal animation library designed to load and play
skeletal animations. It supports models that are composed of several
swappable meshes bound to a single skeleton that can be driven by multiple
animations. There is an export plug-in for Maya, and others are in
development, including plug-ins for 3D Studio Max and Lightwave. It is
written in C++ and has no dependencies. However, an example
implementation is provided that uses OpenGL and SDL.
Changes: This release is significantly restructured and has many new
powerful features. The most major change is that it uses quaternions
internally to store local transformations instead of using matrices for
world transformations. It now also uses skeletal hierarchies, and can
blend animations together. It can make selections of sets of bones using
the hierarchy, which can then be used to calculate different animations
for different parts of the skeleton.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: CAMPSITE is a Unicode-based, mulitlingual Web content management
system designed for medium-to-large-size news publications. Issues, copy
flow, back archives, and subscription management are implemented. At the
core of CAMPSITE is CAMPFIRE, a Java Editor supporting Unicode, which
allows contributors and editors to publish content and control layout
online in their native alphabets. Formatting can be altered in a way
similar to that of editors such as Wordpad; no HTML knowledge is necessary
for formatting text.
Changes: New "Topic", "If Topic", and "Print Topic" statements were
implemented. A new environment attribute, topic, was added. This affects
article lists and is forwarded as a URL parameter. New attributes were
added to the "List Issue" statement. Many bugfixes were made.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors
Scientific/Engineering
Text Processing :: Markup :: TeX/LaTeX
About: cb2Bib is a tool for rapidly extracting unformatted bibliographic
references from email alerts, journal Web pages, and PDF files. It
facilitates the capture of single references from unformatted sources.
References are written in BibTeX. A PDF file with the article text, if
available, can be easily linked and renamed by dragging it onto the
cb2Bib window. Reference manager applications can later retrieve,
import, and display these BibTeX references.
Changes: The 'About/Bookmarks' and 'BibTeX' buttons have been slightly
redesigned to speed up navigation through panels. This release tests all
possible queries for a given journal before producing a 'No article found'
message. This permits querying multiple journal databases.

by icekiss (http://freshmeat.net/users/icekiss/)
Wed, Feb 9th 2005 09:44
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup
About: deb-install is a command line tool that can install or show
information about packages and files in several different formats.
Whenever a program is installed using deb-install, it is converted into a
deb package beforehand, and thus can be removed with a simple "apt-get
remove <name>". It currently supports apt-get, .deb, .rpm, .dsc, and
tar/.zip (source archives). Compression via gzip or bzip2 is handled
automatically. If a needed tool is missing, deb-install asks whether it
should install it.
Changes: Files with ending .tgz, .tbz, or similar weren't unpacked
correctly, resulting in deb-install aborting with "filetype not
recognized". An unnecessary "cd .." that was sometimes added in
debian/rules could keep compile errors from being reported, resulting in
the installation of a non-functional program. When using regular
expressions, too many files were reported as exact matches within
packages. These and several other more minor bugs were fixed.

[072] - schedutils 1.4.0
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Wed, Feb 9th 2005 16:08
Utilities
About: The Linux scheduler utilities take advantage of the scheduler
family of syscalls that Linux implements across various kernels. These
system calls implement interfaces for scheduler-related parameters such as
CPU affinity and real-time attributes. The standard UNIX utilities do not
provide support for these interfaces, thus this package. The programs that
are included in this package are chrt and taskset. Together with nice and
renice (not included), they allow full control of process scheduling
parameters. The taskset program allows manipulation of task CPU affinity
and the chrt program allows manipulation of scheduling priority and
policy.
Changes: This release adds the ability to show CPU affinities by number as
well as by mask.
