About: adesklets is an interactive Imlib2 console for the X Window system.
It provides to scripted languages a clean and simple way to write great
looking, mildly interactive desktop integrated graphic applets (aka
"desklets"). It can also be used as a command line oriented graphics
editor, a bit similar to ImageMagick, but with different functionality.
Changes: This is a new minor version release. The package compiles and run
flawlessly on FreeBSD and NetBSD. Events handling has also been internally
streamlined, and the Python binding was extended to support dynamic
modification of caught events (see test/test_events.py). The interpreter
API now exposes everything the author wanted, and will probably not be
expanded much further; everything is pretty much in place to write any
desklet, including animations.

About: FAUmachine is a virtual machine that emulates a PC. It runs as a
normal user process (no root privileges or kernel modules needed) on top
of Linux on i386 hardware. Ports to OpenBSD and Windows are in progress.
An out-of-the-box Linux distribution can be installed onto this virtual
hardware, using the installation program that comes with it. Binaries
compiled for i386 hardware architecture will also run on FAUmachine.
FAUmachine supports networking and FAUmachines can be connected
transparently to the local network to which their host machine is
attached. If the appropriate servers are running on the FAUmachine, login
from any real machine is possible, once the network is set up.

About: mysqlblasy is a Perl script for automating MySQL database backups.
It uses "mysqldump" for dumping mysql databases to the files sytem. It was
written with automated usage in mind. For example, it is silent during
operation, and only produces noise on errors/problems. It rotates backups
automatically to prevent the backup disk from getting full when the
administrator is on vacation (or is lazy).
Changes: This release removes the dependency on DBI for database access
and adds more documentation.

About: rsnapshot is a filesystem snapshot utility based on rsync. It
makes it easy to make periodic snapshots of local machines, and remote
machines over ssh. It uses hard links whenever possible, to greatly
reduce the disk space required.
Changes: Special files such as FIFOs and sockets are now backed up on
every platform, even without link_dest. rsnapshot now rolls back from
errors while using link_dest. Support was added for using full paths in
rsync include/exclude rules. The one_fs flag now works when backing up the
root filesystem. rsnapshot du now allows a second argument to run disk

About: tub is a user-mode tool to support large dynamic arrays (up to
2.8GB or so) yet still use shared libraries and dynamic linking under
Linux on x86. It works around TASK_UNMAPPED_BASE being a system-wide
constant instead of an inherited per-process parameter controlled by
setrlimit/getrlimit.
Changes: tub now handles mremap() and works around oddities of gcc
3.3.1-2mdk, such as not inlining calls to memset().

About: txt2html is a Perl program that uses the HTML::TextToHTML perl
module to convert plain text to HTML. It supports headings, lists, tables,
simple character markup, hyperlinking and is highly customizable. It
recognizes some of the apparent structure of the source document (mostly
whitespace and typographic layout) and attempts to mark that structure
explicitly using HTML.

DCRaw, and it supports basic color management using Little CMS, allowing
the user to apply color profiles. For Nikon users, UFRaw has the advantage
that it can read the camera's tone curves. Even if you don't own a Nikon,
you can still apply a Nikon curve to your images.

settings for Gentoo things (ebuilds, eclasses, GLEPs, init scripts,
package.* files, etc.) for the Vim text editor.
Changes: Arch detection code is now faster thanks to a cache, and should
work properly on non-Linux systems. The thirdpartymirrors file is now
detected properly. ASFLAGS and ARCH are now highlighted as errors in

been added.

About: WapReader provides a WAP-based interface for reading and writing
email from mobile devices that support WAP 1.1 protocol. The program is
used as a gateway between a WAP-enabled mobile device and a plain
POP3/IMAP mail server. With WapReader, a user can read mail, compose new
messages, and delete mail. It uses the IMAP or POP3 protocols for getting
mail and the SMTP protocol for sending mail. WapReader does not require
any SQL server, and is very easy to set up and configure even for an
inexperienced webmaster. WapReader supports base64 and quoted-printable
mail encodings and all charsets supported by iconv().
Changes: This release adds fixes to work with the disabled short_open_tag
option, a connection tester, fixes for a bug with redirecting to a
nonexistent message when the "delete and next" button was pressed (only in
pop3 connections), and the number of unread messages in the folders list.

About: YACY is a distributed Web crawler and also a caching HTTP/HTTPS
proxy. Pages that pass through the proxy are indexed and can be searched
using a built-in HTTP server. YACY peers connect each other and form a
P2P-based index exchange network based on distributed hash tables.
Explicit web crawls can be done locally or collaboratively, forming a
global search and distributed indexing engine for the Web. It also
provides URL filtering with blacklist sharing among other proxy peers,
individual Web/servlet page hosting, a file sharing zone, and a database
engine.
Changes: The remote transmission protocol for indexes to other peers
(using a distributed hash table technique) has been implemented, and
remote searching has been enhanced.
