[001] - Another File Integrity Checker 2.7-0
  by Gerbier Eric (http://freshmeat.net/users/gerbier/)
  Wed, Feb 16th 2005 04:11

Security
System :: Systems Administration

About: afick is another file integrity checker, designed to be fast and
fully portable between Unix and Windows platforms. It works by first
creating a database that represents a snapshot of the most essential parts
of your computer system. You can then run the script to discover all
modifications made since the snapshot was taken (i.e. files added,
changed, or removed). The configuration syntax is very close to that of
aide or tripwire, and a graphical interface is provided.

Changes: New options (addpatyh, addlib) were added to afickonfig to help
secure the config file. The default max_checksum_size was changed to be
faster. New "analysis" options (stat_secu, stat_size, search) were added
to afick and afick-tk. The elapsed and remaining time was added to
afick-tk.

your local network. It is designed to ease the management of electronic
versions (.ps, .pdf, etc.) of papers referenced in the BibTeX file.
Electronic papers are directly accessible via the HTML interface. Biborb
provides classification using groups, and a search function (by groups,
author, keywords, or words in the title). It also offers an edition mode
to add or modify entries.

Changes: This release fixes vulnerabilities in SQL authentication and
arbitrary execution of malicious scripts.

[017] - Eleven 1.0
  by Joe Morrison (http://freshmeat.net/users/jdm/)
  Wed, Feb 16th 2005 04:11

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Eleven is a programming language for creating robust, scalable Web
applications quickly and easily. It offers a 20x programmer productivity
increase over traditional server programming languages like ASP, PHP, and
JSP by automating state management and taking control of the application's
look and feel. From high-level source code with a simple, C-like syntax,
the compiler generates complete, ready-to-run implementations in PHP or
mod_perl. Applications maintain their state in a relational database and
are inherently fault-tolerant, secure, and scalable.

Changes: This release now cleans up expired activity records
automatically, supports more database and display formatting functions,
works properly with multi-byte characters, allows all
automatically-generated text to be customized, and handles quotes,
backslashes, and HTML and SQL special characters more accurately. It also
includes several other minor features and bugfixes.

Communications :: Chat
Communications :: File Sharing

About: Fast Messaging Peer to Peer (FM P2P) is a simple P2P program that
forms a TCP-based overlay network by which a user may chat or share
files. It is targetted at smaller networks and is not the most efficient
system in the world. It was designed to resolve the frustration of using
many different workstations with different operating systems and having
no way to easily transfer files or move notes.

Changes: Code cleanups, fixes, and improvements were added. Loop running
for CallUp PDUs was added. This required a change to the TCUP protocol.
This renders version 0.6.4 incompatible with all previous versions.
Connection and call statistics, monitoring, and some limited management

drawn randomly from the "test space" defined by your properties.
LectroTest's testing engine is fully configurable and exposed as an

  Wed, Feb 16th 2005 08:38

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Filesystems

About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each file or
directory to present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various
data sources and expose them as filesystems and to generate interesting
EA. Current implementations include native (kernel disk IO with event
updates using fam), XML (mount an XML file as a filesystem), DB4, xmldb,
LDAP, HTTP, FTP, eet, sockets, RDF/XML, RDF/bdb, and mbox. EA generators
include image, audio, and animation decoders.

Changes: Adding files to the PostgreSQL EA index is now significantly
faster. The PostgreSQL EA indexer no longer does an analysis after adding
files. A memory leak was fixed in RPM EA generators. Some fd leaks were
fixed in the as-text EA generators. A bug that caused a segv in the JPEG
EA generator for some JPEG files was fixed. The language-human EA now uses
the as-text EA to dig into PDF files. Relative path resolution was
improved. Another optional MIME sniffing engine using libmagic was added.

Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Disassemblers
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: Linice is a source-level kernel debugger for x86 systems with the
look and feel of SoftIce for MS Windows. It is designed for people who are
already familiar with SoftIce, but anyone can quickly get used to it. It
can break into a running kernel at any time using a hotkey and supports
breakpoints and single step on modules, the kernel, or user programs. It
supports the VGA frame buffer, the X Window System, serial connections,
and monochrome adapters.

Changes: This release adds a new source file to calculate effective
address of instructions, and the functions EAddr and EValue to use it,
adds code to display effective address and the target data in the
register window, and implements functions “DataAddr”, “CodeAddr”,
"hibyte" and "sword". Numbers can now be also written as binary, with
"0b", or octal, with "0o" prefix. User variable evaluation (VAR command)
was fixed, along with the not operator (!). The serial VT100 terminal
can now have widths of 80 or 132 and lines of 24, 25, 48 or 50. There was

  by CondorDes (http://freshmeat.net/users/condordes/)
  Wed, Feb 16th 2005 22:31

Information Management
System :: Filesystems

About: MetaFS allows users to access information about their files (such
as MP3 tags or JPEG EXIF tags) easily and consistently using extended
attributes. It also allows them to perform fast searches using this
information. It can be easily extended by writing plugins to support new
types of metadata and uses the FUSE library to act as a layer between
user programs and the filesystem, which allows indexes to be kept up-
to-date in realtime, and eliminates the need for a specialized metadata
API.

Changes: There is now a taglib plugin, which allows reading and writing of
MP3, Ogg, and FLAC tags via extended attributes. Where possible, the custom
plugin will now use the underlying filesystem's extended attributes (but
note that this does not work for ACLs). Finally, all of the filesystem
internals have been rewritten to use a clean abstraction layer, which is
more flexible and easier to use.

Changes: This release can run with 'register globals=off'. Export now
supports a WHERE clause, and other minor fixes were made. More
significantly, this release generates XHTML 1.0 Transitional compliant
HTML and uses stylesheets. This will require a careful review of your
local_config.php. Be sure to compare it to the released model_config.php.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

Software Development :: Pre-processors

About: Stunnix Perl-Obfus is a unique solution for protecting your
valuable intellectual property from possible Perl source code
piracy/studying/rework. It's an advanced and extremely reliable obfuscator
for the Perl source code. It converts the Perl source files (.pl and .pm)
into highly mangled and obfuscated forms, making them extremely difficult
to study, analyse, reuse, or re-work for competitors or customers, while
fully retaining functionality of the original source code. It's not a
compiler to machine code, and the obfuscated form will still be the usual
Perl source code, and so will work on all platforms the original source
worked on.

Changes: Destruction of a script that is run on a computer with name the
script was not licensed to run on is supported. Project Manager allows you
to remove files from a project that are already absent from the project
input directory. Due to improvements in Stunnix Perl Web Server, Project
Manager, runs more reliably on Windows computers with incorrect network
settings. Various bugfixes and improvements all over the code and
documentation were made.

and converts between native Python datatypes and SOAP syntax. Simple
dispatch and invocation methods are supported.

Changes: Support was added for the FastCGI module of jonpy
(http://jonpy.sourceforge.net/). A FutureWarning with Python 2.3.x was
eliminated. A check was added to make sure that the generated ID values
are legal IDs under Python 2.3 and newer. _textunprotect is no longer
needed. ZSI.wstools.XMLname.toXMLname() was fixed so that the namespace
prefix isn't lost.
