About: deb-install is a command line tool that can install or show
information about packages and files in several different formats.
Whenever a program is installed using deb-install, it is converted into a
deb package beforehand, and thus can be removed with a simple "apt-get
remove <name>". It currently supports apt-get, .deb, .rpm, .dsc, and
tar/.zip (source archives). Compression via gzip or bzip2 is handled
automatically. If a needed tool is missing, deb-install asks whether it
should install it.
Changes: This release now recovers from errors, making the prospect of a
compile aborting after two hours because of a missing file much less
frightening. A place to abort can be specified as a command line option,
making human intervention possible in many places. Support has been added
for Slackware, tab-completion has improved, and lots of internal code
improvements will hopefully make bugs rarer.

About: The flat assembler is a fast and efficient self-assembling 80x86
assembler for DOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. It supports all
8086-80486/Pentium instructions with MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, and 3DNow!
extensions and x86-64 (both AMD64 and EM64T) instructions. It can produce
output in binary, MZ, PE, COFF, or ELF format. It includes the powerful
but easy-to-use macroinstruction support, and does multiple passes to
optimize the instruction codes for size. The flat assembler is entirely

About: SHORE (Semantic Hypertext Object Repository) is a hypertext
repository that stores data about documents and data described by
documents. Access to this information is provided as hypertext. The
repository stores objects that appear in documents, together with their
relations in a semantic net. Hypertext navigation follows these relations
in the semantic net. The SHORE server works as an HTTP server, and the
client is a standard Web browser. The repository uses PROLOG as its query
language and the XSB system as its query engine.
Changes: This release adds full team support with simultaneous read and
write access to transaction guarded documents (ACID properties). The
extended memory mapped file persistence layer implements MVCC transactions
with redo log, optimistic write access control, and database page merging.
MVCC (Multiple Version Concurrency Control) transactions allow users to
access consistent document structures while new or updated documents are
imported. The release also enhances support for modern Linux 2.6.x kernels

file compressor that uses pthreads and achieves near-linear speedup on
SMP machines. The output of this version is fully compatible with bzip2
1.0.2 (ie: anything compressed with PBZIP2 can be decompressed with
bzip2).
Changes: This release adds a major bugfix to handle problems in the
pthreads library. It is recommended that all users of 0.8.3 and higher
upgrade to this version. It also increases the size of the BZIP2 header
match from 56 bits to 72 bits for more accurate detection, modifies some
buffers to use the vector class for easier memory management and speedier
decompression, checks to ensure that the input is a regular file and not a
directory before processing, and deletes the input file only if the output
file exists.

completely cross-platform. This is part of the Tinker framework using

machine-automated blackhole server designed to blacklist network addresses

About: The sysstat package contains the sar, mpstat, and iostat commands
for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system activity
information. This information can also be saved in a system activity file
for future inspection. The iostat command reports CPU statistics and I/O
statistics for tty devices and disks. The statistics reported by sar
concern I/O transfer rates, paging activity, process-related activites,
interrupts, network activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU
utilization, kernel activities, and TTY statistics, among others. Both UP
and SMP machines are fully supported.
Changes: sadf is now able to display the contents of a sar datafile in
XML. Typos were fixed in the formulas used by sadf to display stats on
machines where HZ is not 100. A bug in the stats displayed by sar -d was

fixed. A bug in the spec file that caused the sa1 and sa2 scripts to point
to the wrong sadc location was fixed.
