About: alph implements and analyzes historical and traditional ciphers and
codes, such as polyalphabetic, susbstitutional, and mixed employing
human-reconstructable algorithms. It provides a pipe filter interface in
order to encrypt and decrypt block text to acheive transparency. The
program is meant to be used in conjunction with external programs that
transfer data, resulting in transparent encryption or decryption of
information. The program can thus be used as a mail filter, IRC filter, IM
filter, and so on.
Changes: Morse code was corrected and decryption was made available. The
bifid cypher was written again from scratch and supports encryption and
decryption transparently. The manpage was updated.

[007] - Backup Manager 0.5.7
by Alexis SUKRIEH (http://freshmeat.net/users/sukria/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 05:33
About: Backup Manager is a small and basic tool for generating archives.
It is designed for those who don't want an obfuscated tool for making
tarballs. It can make tar, tar.gz, tar.bz, and zip archives. It can be run
in a parallel mode with different configuration files. Archives are kept
for a given number of days. Its upload system can use ftp or scp to
transfer the generated archives to a list of remote hosts. The
configuration file is very simple and basic.
Changes: This release is a minor one, which resolves minor packaging
issues. A COPYING file was added in order to specify the GPL 2 licence,
and the debian subdirectory was removed from the tarball. The only change
that was made to the code is a minor bugfix.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: GNUnet is a peer-to-peer framework with focus on providing
security. All peer-to-peer messages in the network are confidential and
authenticated. The framework provides a transport abstraction layer and
can currently encapsulate the network traffic in UDP (IPv4 and IPv6), TCP

provide contributing nodes with better service. The primary service build
on top of the framework is anonymous file sharing.
Changes: This pre-release is the first release after the major code

About: Graph-includes creates a graph of dependencies between source files
and/or groups of source files, with an emphasis on getting readable and
usable graphs even for large projects. Usability of the dependency graphs
are currently improved by customizable grouping of several source files
into a single node, and transitive reduction of the graph.
Changes: New features including stripping a common prefix from all
filenames, the ability to specify excuses for abusive dependencies, and
automatic generation of default level 2 groups in the default project
class. Bugfixes for --output, --focus, and --showdropped, which were all
completely broken in 0.1.

About: RTL-check is a framework for static analysis of programs from a
safety and security perspective. It performs analysis on RTL, which is the
low-level intermediate representation generated by GCC. This framework was
created for a research project that deals with static analysis and memory
safety of programs developed in unsafe languages such as C or C++. In
particular, it is targeted at detecting buffer overflows statically and
proving their absence. However, this framework should be useful for other
projects dealing with static analysis.
Changes: It implements a new powerful and extensible abstract
interpretation framework. The analysis is now more precise because it
knows about relations between integers and it understands linear relations
between variables.

Scientific/Engineering :: Astronomy
About: Squeuer is a queueing proxy for Seti@Home. It keeps a configurable
sized queue of work units so that the client will always be able to get a
new work unit immediately upon finishing one. It queues results for
uploading should the main Seti@Home site be overloaded or down. Results
are never lost and the client is never delayed waiting to upload a result.
It can handle multiple users running the Seti@Home client on multiple
machines all connecting to Squeuer. It has been tested and found to work
on different versions of Unix, MacOS, and Windows. All it requires is a
Perl 5 interpreter.
Changes: Manual pages have been added. This release can optionally bind to
a specific address.

[062] - Stunnel 4.09
by Michal Trojnara (http://freshmeat.net/users/mtrojnar/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 05:00
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Security :: Cryptography
About: The stunnel program is designed to work as an SSL encryption
wrapper between remote client and local (inetd-startable) or remote
server. It can be used to add SSL functionality to commonly used inetd
daemons like POP2, POP3, and IMAP servers without any changes in the
programs' code. It will negotiate an SSL connection using the OpenSSL or
SSLeay libraries. It calls the underlying crypto libraries, so stunnel
supports whatever cryptographic algorithms you compiled into your crypto
package.
Changes: Some bugfixes and code cleanup were done. Upgrading is
recommended.

[063] - Stunnix Perl Web Server 1.3
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 10:44
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: Stunnix Perl Web Server is an advanced Web server for serving
browser-based applications. It's positioned as a platform for
"cross-platform GUI apps", since it uses a lot of tricks to make
browser-based apps feel like native apps in responsivness: supporting a
FastCGI-like framework for Perl scripts; non-blocking I/O and serving
several requests simultaneously; and advanced caching support. It has
support for PATH_INFO, SSI, CGI, GET/POST; the ability to pack Perl, the
Web server, and the site into an executable file that starts the server
and opens the site in the browser when run; and a toolkit to create
multi-platform autorun CD-ROMs with server, site and Perl on them. It can
be used as a UI for Stunnix obfuscators, e.g. Perl-Obfus.
Changes: This release adds support for stopping SPWS and releasing CD-ROMs
for all platforms (triggered when a user visits a resource with a special
name); the CD-ROM is no longer locked on Mac OS X between HTTP requests.
Native utilities have been introduced for starting SPWS and opening the
site in a browser for Windows and Mac OS X. The XCGI framework is extended
to allow scripts written for it to be run as CGI or FastCGI scripts without
changes. An option to force using MSIE on Mac OS X has been added.
Stability on misconfigured Windows boxes was greatly improved. A lot of
improvements in code and in the documentation were introduced.

[065] - t-prot 1.99.1
by Jochen Striepe (http://freshmeat.net/users/jstr0051/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 14:09
Communications :: Email :: Filters
About: t-prot (TOFU Protection) is a filter which improves the readability
of email messages and Usenet posts by hiding some of their annoying parts.
The annoyances it handles include mailing list footers, signatures, TOFU,
sequences of blank lines, and repeated punctuation. TOFU is an acronym
that stands for "Text oben, Fullquote unten", a German reference to the
practice of adding just a few lines of original text and quoting a
complete message below them.
Changes: Several problems in t-prot.sl were fixed. Most notably, the
flickering before displaying a message was greatly reduced.

[066] - Tea4CUPS 2.10
by Jerome Alet (http://freshmeat.net/users/jalet/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 14:12
Printing
System :: Archiving
System :: Logging
About: Tea4CUPS is similar in functionnality to the *nix command "tee",
but in the form of a CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) backend. Tea4CUPS
captures a print job's data in their final form while they are being sent
to a printer (more precisely, to a CUPS backend), and at the same time
allows you to dispatch these data to any number of commands.
Changes: This release makes the print job's billing code, if present,
available from your scripts in the TEABILLING environment variable. The
print job's IPP message file, usually of the form /var/spool/cups/c?????,
is available in the TEACONTROLFILE environment variable. A simple example
showing how to automate deletion of duplicate print jobs is included in
the sample configuration file.

[068] - Traffic Control Super Script 4.1
by Kegan Holtzhausen (http://freshmeat.net/users/marzubus/)
Thu, Mar 31st 2005 02:52
System :: Networking
About: Traffic Control Super Script implements traffic shaping for IP
traffic passing through a NAT/bridge box with a single configuration file
with one line per host. It can manage bandwidth to user-specified speeds
based on the u32 classifier, and can identify traffic by source,
destination, source and destination port, protocol, and ToS field. It then
limits the rate of connection in either a single or a bidirectional
fashion.
Changes: Code cleanups.

modern features like OpenGL graphics, 3D sound, and Internet-based
multiplayer games. Players can design their own tracks, choose opponents
and try some spectacular stunts.
Changes: This version featured some major improvements to the most
criticised part: the game physics. The old physics engine was replaced by
completely new code, which may be slightly less realistic, but definitely
brings more fun to playing the game.
