[004] - bibEC Process Card 1.2.6
  by Fabrizio Parrella (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnfnva/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 03:02

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: bibEC Process Card is a class that processes credit card payments
via one of the multiple supported payment gateways. Currently, these
include Plug and Pay, Authorize.net, and ViaKlix. Changing between payment
gateways is mostly a matter of changing the class constructor parameter. It
provides a payment gateway independent API with functions for logging the
payment activity, setting authentication credentials, submitting
requests, and retrieving the results. Submissions are performed securely
when possible using SSL or Curl.

Changes: This version adds an iBill gateway. The set_order function was
modified, adding AUTHORIZATION CODE and TRANSACTION NUMBER. The
transaction number was added as a RETURNED code (function
get_transactionnum).

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion

About: BIRT is a simple application that allows a large number of images
to be resized in one go. It was created in order to facilitate the
maintenance of an online photo album where each hi-res photo needs a
low-res copy and a  thumbnail.

Changes: The default values of the Processing Options are now user
configurable. Instead of being hard-coded, these values are now set in an
XML config file.

  by Ian Clarke (http://freshmeat.net/users/sanity/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 13:05

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Dijjer is a peer-to-peer HTTP cache, designed to allow the
distribution of large files from Web servers while virtually eliminating
the bandwidth cost to the file's publisher. Dijjer is designed to be
simple, elegant, and to cleanly integrate with existing applications where
possible. Dijjer uses "UDP hole punching" to allow it to operate from
behind firewalls without any need for manual reconfiguration. Dijjer's
distributed and scalable content distribution algorithm is inspired by
Freenet.

Changes: This release fixes a number of important bugs, including some
that were causing Dijjer to die after a few days of uptime. Code to
automatically verify file integrity against MD5SUM files has been

[010] - Email 2.3.3
  by Geekoid (http://freshmeat.net/users/geekoid/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 17:21

Internet
Office/Business
Security :: Cryptography

About: Email sends email to remote SMTP servers via the command line,
which makes it useful in cron jobs. It will send to any RFC standard
remote ESMTP server, and will allow you to encrypt, sign, and design your
message on the fly. It has the capability to use signature files with
dynamic options, address book functionality, and users can also attach
pictures, binary files, documents, or whatever they want. It is completely
compatible with GNUPG for encryption and signing, and is easy to configure
and use.

Changes: The twirling icon was removed from the progress bar. New error
messages have been added to the SOCKET interface. "errnum" is set with
errno if an error has occured. A new function allows retrieval with the
wrapper function to strerror(). send_data() has been reworked to read
bigger chunks of data so that multiple calls to sputc (essentially
write()) don't have to be used. This was left over from a debug session. A
space has been added between MAIL FROM: and RCPT TO: commands due to this
being an issue with some email servers. Users can specify --with-utc
during configure to let them use UTC time.

[011] - FormattedDataSet API 1_04
  by stevesouza (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevesouza/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 15:58

Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Office/Business

About: The FormattedDataSet API is an easy way to generate dynamic text
(HTML, XML, WML, JavaScript, etc.). It combines data and formatting to
generate the dynamic text. Templates contain formatting. Out of the box,
it can generate all common HTML elements (table, list box, drop down list
box, multi-select list box, etc.) and XML. Developers can easily create
their own templates.

Changes: The ArrayConverter class has been added to the FormattedDataSet
API. Among other things, this class is great for formatting arrays
(Object[][]) for display in a Web browser. For example, it can make
numbers comma delimited or format dates in a locale-specific manner.
However, it is more general than that, and can covert any cell of an array
into any Object in a simple declaritive manner.

[013] - Gallery Mage 2.4.1
  by William Denniss (http://freshmeat.net/users/willdenniss/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 13:02

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Capture :: Digital Camera
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion

About: Gallery Mage is a client side photo gallery management system
designed to work with online gallery display scripts such as SPGM. Using
Gallery Mage, one can select, caption, rotate, crop, resize, and upload
photos taken with a digital camera to an online photo gallery. The rotate,
crop, and resize parameters are stored as text data with the images, and
the operations are only performed on a copy of the photo while exporting,
thus preserving the original picture files. Gallery Mage provides
abstraction from the online display software.

Changes: This release adds PDF documentation, a reverse rotate ability, an
Upload after Export option, a feature to disable FTP settings, an AutoSave
feature (enabled by default), a Coppermine export plugin, checking of
updates every five runs, and HTML documentation.

About: GDHCPD is an easy to use GTK+ frontend for ISC DHCPD.

Changes: The settings entries for hosts and scopes and the settings window
were added to tables. ddns-update-style, client-updates,

[015] - Generic Game-Tree Library 1.99 (Stable)
  by Stig Brautaset (http://freshmeat.net/users/stigbrau/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 12:51

Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Software Development :: Libraries

About: GGTL is a library designed to make it easier to program games in C.
It provides an AI that is able to play most 2 player strategic games. Nim,
Tic-Tac-Toe, Reversi (aka Othello), Connect-4, and Chess are all examples
of games that can all be implemented using GGTL.

Changes: This release has been rewritten from the ground up to be more
flexible, more extensible, and easier to use. Extensions are provided for
Reversi and Nim to make implementing these games even simpler. These
provide all the game-specific callback functions the AI needs, thus you
can have one of these games up and running in next to no time. Doing so
incurs no penalty in flexibility, however, as you can override any
provided callback functions with your own.

  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 12:53

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: getmail is intended as a simple, secure, and reliable replacement
for fetchmail. It retrieves email (either all messages, or only unread
messages) from one or more POP3, SPDS, or IMAP4 servers (with or without
SSL) for one or more email accounts, and reliably delivers into
qmail-style Maildirs, mboxrd files, or through external MDAs (command
deliveries) specified on a per-account basis. getmail also has excellent
support for domain (multidrop) mailboxes, including delivering messages to
different users or destinations based on the envelope recipient address.

Changes: This release is less conservative about remembering messages as
already-seen when unrelated errors occur after successfully delivering
them.

Internet
System :: Diagnostics
System :: Logging

About: ICPLD (Internet Connection Performance Logging Daemon) is a
connection monitor that sends ICMP requests to IP addresses of your choice
and monitors if your machine has a working network connection. It logs
failed attempts to reach the hosts, and will stamp a log as soon as a
reply is received. It keeps track of when and for how long the connection
was unavailable and records both total down time and each occasion of
interrupted connection. It supports IPv6 and can execute a command
whenever a connection goes up or down, which is useful for alerting users.

Changes: This release introduces the -detach option, which will fork an
icpld process that's being ran in the foreground. It also fixes a few
minor bugs mainly concerning updates in the gcc compiler.

[040] - libferris 1.1.47
  by Ben Martin (http://freshmeat.net/users/monkeyiq/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 06:44

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Filesystems

About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each file or
directory to present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various
data sources and expose them as filesystems and to generate interesting
EA. Current implementations include native (kernel disk IO with event
updates using fam), XML (mount an XML file as a filesystem), DB4, xmldb,
LDAP, HTTP, FTP, eet, sockets, RDF/XML, RDF/bdb, and mbox. EA generators
include image, audio, and animation decoders.

Changes: More EA are stored denormalized by default, and binary EA are now
collected into a single bit varying in postgresql ea indexes. (The new
index schema is incompatable.) Relative operators on the same attribute
now generate more efficient SQL. A conjunction query bug in the postgresql
ea index module was fixed. feaindexadd now skips files which have not been
modified since last index by default. A segv in the exif ea module was
fixed. Calls to the deprecated redland APIs were removed. The FCA code now
uses BitMagic. Various speed improvements were made for FCA code. XFS file
extents are now listable via a branch filesystem.

you to boot Multiboot kernels (specifically, Xen) using bootloaders that
don't support the Multiboot standard (i.e. pretty much anything except

[044] - Memcached patch for Postfix 1.0.0
  by Omar Kilani (http://freshmeat.net/users/omar/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 06:40

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents

About: postfix_memcached is a patch to Postfix (2.1 and 2.2) to allow it
to use memcache as a map source. The memcache map type can be used to
reduce the load on another map type, e.g. pgsql. By placing the memcache
map before the pgsql map, a key not found in the memcache will fall
through to the database. You'll need to figure out a way to reverse
populate the cache from the database yourself. This map type can be seen
as an alternative to the proxymap(8) service.

[057] - Redet 5.3
  by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 17:16

Text Processing :: Linguistic

About: Redet (Regular Expression Development and Execution Tool) is a tool
for developing and executing regular expressions using any of more than 20
search programs, editors, and programming languages. For each program in
each locale a palette showing the available regular expression constructs
is provided. The features of each program are determined by running a test
suite, which guarantees that they will be correct for the particular
program version in use and for the user's locale. The locale may be
changed without exiting Redet. Selections from the palette may be copied
to the regular expression window with a mouse click. Definitions can be
added to the palette via an initialization file. The regular expressions
executed are recorded in a history list, from which entries may be copied
to the regular expression window with a mouse click. This allows complex
regular expressions to be developed in pieces. When a suitable regular
expression has been constructed it may be saved to a file. Named character
classes may be defined in a file or entered interactively. As long as the
underlying program supports Unicode, Redet fully supports UTF-8 Unicode.

Changes: A variety of small improvements and minor bugfixes were made.
Actions that are triggered by a right button press on other systems are
triggered by the simultaneous combination of Control and a mouse button
press on the Macintosh. The popup window brought up by the "Key Bindings"
command on the Help menu now lists the key bindings in alphabetical order
of the glosses of the commands rather than in the less useful order of the
key bindings. Tests were added for capturing and disjunction groups that
need various numbers of backslashes for quoting.

[058] - site-C-ing 0.0.1
  by The Golden Boy (http://freshmeat.net/users/xakep/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 13:03

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: site-C-ing is a Web development engine that uses C++ as a
development language. The source code for the Web is a mixture of HTML (or
whatever is the target content-type) and embedded C++. The engine
preprocesses files, compiles them using the C++ compiler and serves to the
user using .so shared objects. Each "component" can be considered a C++
class with the logical consequence of being able to derive one from
another, etc.

Changes: 'plain' cgi is now supported in addition to fastcgi, syntax
enhancements, build optimization, portability enhancements (compiles on
FreeBSD now), documentation enhancements, and a few other minor bugfixes
and enhancements.

support wireless clients regardless of the configuration of their IP
stack. The current approach lives in userland. The idea is to filter and
forward data between an Ethernet interface and a TUN interface. TCP/IP
port scanning between wireless clients can be prevented to some extrend by
attracting all traffic using similar mechanisms as implemented with SHAT.

Changes: A diagnosis command bug was fixed.

[063] - The Ng Java Roguelike Engine 0.2.0
  by Thomas Seufert (http://freshmeat.net/users/seufet/)
  Sun, Apr 3rd 2005 20:16

About: The goal of the Ng Java Roguelike Engine is to make it easy for
anyone to create their own rogue-like game, and to make it possible for
programmers to create truly outstanding variants. The project currently
consists of three components: the Core, the Variant Manager, and the
Prototype. It also includes an unsupported non-Ng Angband project that was
nearly completed in 2000-2001.

Changes: A major architectural upgrade was made to the Core along with
many advances to SimpleGame. The Core now makes use of its own immutable
classes for geometry (Point, Dimension, and Rectangle), and the graphical
APIs are much cleaner and exclusively use board location-based references
rather than pixel-based, allowing for the future implementation of
isometric or hexagonal graphical modes. SimpleGame now has two display
modes - text graphics and 32x32 image tiles. Large terrain and monsters
are both supported, terrain features were implemented, and the "Look"
command was reworked to handle large creatures and terrain.
