About: AODV-UU (Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector Routing, from Uppsala
University) is a routing protocol under investigation by the IETF for use
in ad-hoc networks, where both end-users and routers are mobile. This
implementation supports IPv6 and multicasting (with the appropriate patch)
and is compliant with RFC 3561.

by John Bowman (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcbowman/)

Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Printing
About: Asymptote is a powerful script-based vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. It is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program, allowing it to exploit the best
features of script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI)
methods. High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language
itself, allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
Changes: An explicit linear equation solver was added. The histogram
routine was generalized and the order of its arguments reversed. A new
"attach" function automatically increases the picture size to accommodate
frame addition. Deconstruction is now flexible, robust, and compatible
with both clipping and erasing. All picture and frame elements can be
deconstructed or treated as a single entity (using "begingroup" and
"endgroup"). The "format" routine was improved, a label
alignment/transformation problem was fixed, and "frame labelBox()" was
replaced with "void labelbox(frame)". Minor problems with logarithmic
graphs were fixed. A segmentation fault was fixed.

System :: Logging
System :: Systems Administration
About: authfail is a tool for adding IP addresses to an ACL when entities
from those addresses attempt to log into a system, but cause
authentication failures in auth.log. It reads data from auth.log in real
time and adds the IP into netfilter with a DROP/REJECT policy.
Changes: IPv6 support was enabled. If iptables can't rebuild netfilter,
the program doesn't die, but only logs information.

[004] - aWebDap 1.8 (Stable)
by Greg Ippolito (http://freshmeat.net/users/fwr404/)
Mon, Apr 4th 2005 16:33
Communications :: Email
Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: aWebDap is an easy to use and flexible Web front end to OpenLDAP
version 2. It allows one to query, view, create, delete, and modify LDAP
entries. It is written with address book suppport in mind. It also
supports VCARD, LDAP URL address book interfaces, Web-enabled cell phones,
and multiple domains. Its capabilities are driven by a configuration file.
It can interface with Web servers with HTTP support. It includes the
option for an update trigger shell script, which may be used for email
notification, external database updates, etc., and support for multiple
binding methods to the LDAP server to allow more security flexibility. A
demo version is available as a single binary CGI compiled on Fedora Core 3
(gcc 3.4.2, x86_64) and Red Hat 9.0 and 7.1 (gcc 3.2.2 and 2.96, i386). A
preconfigured example is included.
Changes: This release adds support for WTAI to dial and add numbers to the
Cell address book, CSS for the commercial version. ImgAttribute to allow
LDAP attribute references to be displayed as an image, and support for
Mapquest links based on address. Leading and trailing blanks on search
text input are stripped. The latest LDAP does not support searches for
"***" or "**". AWebDap will no longer submit such a search.

page etc. Main features include reload resistance, hostname resolution,
proxy workaround, and blacklist.
Changes: UTF-8 support has been improved and fixed. A new JavaScript based
redirector and support for Afrinic whois queries were added. The KHTML
browser hack was revised and finally fixes some rendering issues. An
Arabic, a Bosnian, and a Macedonian translation were added, and the French
translation was updated.

properties, generating code for object introspection which can be used by
an object-oriented application to offer external access to its own public
functions. It analyzes an OO header using a Lex/C grammar parser and
generates C++ code from it.
Changes: Missing liblo headers have been included along with some other
fixes for a smooth build. The code has been cleaned up a bit and tested on
*BSD.

Information Management
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: i18nHTML is a collection of scripts that can be used to write Web
pages that visitors can translate into their respective native languages.
It uses a database to match sentences from the Web page against
translations and defines a set of PHP functions that generate either the
translated HTML sentences or the original (typically English) text with
decorations that allow users to provide translations. It requires that
internationalized pages be written using the functions but does not
constrain the page design in any way. Internationalized pages can be
updated without losing existing translations for sentences that were not
changed.
Changes: This release fixed various problems with character set encodings.
The new code also validates that placeholders in translations match the
placeholders in the original sentence. Updating requires conversion of the
old translations to UTF8 - a script to help with this was included. An
updated set of translations for seed the database with is also included.

management framework. It provides mechanisms for building a Web site using
components without much need for writing code to glue all this together.
The administration site gets built automatically by using those
components. Goodies like a caching engine and subrequests make site
building even easier.
Changes: The sessioning subsystem cooperates with Nemein Authentication. A
"Live Mode" in the caching engine allows for continuously updated status

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
About: Putmail is a very lightweight MTA or SMTP client that may replace
the sendmail command when used by MUAs that lack SMTP support (such as
Mutt, nail, or mail).
Changes: This fixes a minor problem with smtp.gmail.com that started to
appear some days ago. putmail.py would exit, informing of an illegal EOF
while closing the connection with the server, but the email was sent out
anyway, confusing MUAs and users.

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Games/Entertainment :: Simulation
About: pydance is a dancing game written in Python, formerly named pyDDR.
The idea is simple. There's a floor mat with arrows, and the game scrolls
arrows up the screen to the beat while playing a song. When the arrows
reach the top of the screen (not sooner and not later), the player hits
the corresponding arrow on the pad, and given that it's hit on time with
the beat, points are scored. Based on how well the dance is put together,
s/he is graded at the end of the song. Both keyboard and mat play are
supported.
Changes: Options can be changed in-between songs of nonstop courses. Xbox
pads are detected. Many bugs were fixed.
