[002] - autopano-sift 2.3
  by Sebastian Nowozin (http://freshmeat.net/users/nowozin/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 11:40

Multimedia :: Graphics
Scientific/Engineering :: Image Recognition

About: Autopano-SIFT is a helper program for panorama image generation. It
automatically generates control point information for a number of image
files for use with the hugin panorama generation software. To do this, it
utilizes the SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, a
sophisticated image feature matching algorithm.

Changes: The Win32 GUI was synchronized with the Gtk GUI. The usability of
the Gtk GUI was improved by reducing its size on screen. The
autopano-complete.sh script was fixed for BSD systems. The problem with
"BUG: less than three neighbours!" was fixed.

[003] - Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript 2005-04-09
  by Terry Burton (http://freshmeat.net/users/terryburton/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 12:30

Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: Delimiters were added around individual encoders to simplify
parsing.

  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 12:43

Communications :: Email
Internet
Terminals

About: basE91 is an advanced method for converting binary data to ASCII
text. It is similar to UUEncode or base64, but is much more efficient. The
overhead produced by basE91 amounts at most to 23% (compare to 33% with
base64). Under some rare circumstances (for example, on 0-byte blocks), it
does a real 8-bit to 7-bit conversion, resulting in an overhead of only
14%. This makes it very useful for sending larger data segments over
binary insecure connections like email or terminal lines.

[020] - Linux trustees 3.0pre2
  by Andrew Ruder (http://freshmeat.net/users/aeruder/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 00:55

Security
System :: Filesystems
System :: Systems Administration

About: The main goal of the Linux Trustees project is to create an
advanced permission management system for Linux. The solution proposed is
mainly inspired by the approach taken by Novell Netware and the Java
security API. Special objects (called trustees) can be bound to every file
or directory. The trustee object can be used to ensure that access to a
file, directory, or directory with subdirectories is granted (or denied)
to a certain user or group (or all except user or group). Trustees are
like POSIX ACLs, but trustee objects can affect entire subdirectory trees,
while ACLs a single file. Trustees works with the 2.6 Linux kernel.

Changes: A overflow condition that caused memory corruption leading to an
OOPS or hard-lock has been fixed. There were other miscellaneous bugfixes
and documentation updates.

[032] - Seismic Toolkit 0.25
  by Reymond (http://freshmeat.net/users/Reymond/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 19:31

Scientific/Engineering

About: Seismic Toolkit is a tool for processing and displaying seismic
signal data in a graphical interface. It reads seismic signals in SAC
format, and provides a number of user operations, such as zooming,
filtering, spectral analysis, polarisation analysis, time-frequency
representation, Hilbert transform, and singular value decomposition.

Changes: A minor bug was corrected in the integrator function to do with
the normalisation factor (there were problems with signal high sampling
rates). A minor bug was also corrected in Utilities/plot_all_chan.c for
when the channel does not have a standard name (N, Z, or E).

[036] - SMS Server Tools 1.14.10
  by Stefan Frings (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfrings/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 06:03

Communications

About: The SMS Server Tools (smstools) were made to send and receive SMS
from one or many GSM modems. They include a send/receive daemon and some
sample scripts to build an SMS email gateway and for logging into an SQL
database. The daemon waits for files in an outgoing spool directory and
sends them. It puts all received SMS in an incoming spool directory, and
can call any external program for incoming or outgoing notification.

Changes: This release fixes wrong handling of empty text lines and lines
with comments only in the whitelist and blacklist.

[037] - Studs MVC Framework+ 0.9.5
  by Dan Allen (http://freshmeat.net/users/mojavelinux/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 19:30

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Studs MVC Framework+ contains a port of Apache's Jakarta Struts to
PHP, though the libraries included in the rest of the project are much
more vast. In order to implement the Struts port, it was necessary to
build a core, object-oriented API in the style of the JDK and the Jakarta
Commons, a servlet container to handle HTTP requests and to invoke
servlet classes, and finally, a parsing engine for JSP-style template
pages. In the end, the result is an environment which is very similar to
that provided by a J2EE Web Container, only everything is implemented in
PHP. While it was possible to carry over many of the concepts, designs
and mechanisms from J2EE, some limitations do exist due to the nature of
the PHP programming language, such as the lack of checked exceptions
(runtime only).

Changes: This release includes important bugfixes. Studs now runs
successfully on Windows platform, as a critical path bug has been
resolved. A new sample application was added entitled "Golflog". Studs
form taglibs have been spruced up, the phase code generated fixed a
serious namespace issue and some PHP 5 compatibility was put in place.

[038] - syslog-ng 1.6.7
  by bazsi (http://freshmeat.net/users/bazsi/)
  Sat, Apr 9th 2005 12:45

System :: Logging

About: syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with
new functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows
messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs; syslog-ng
adds the possibility to filter based on message contents using regular
expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive and powerful.
Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding hops makes it
ideal for firewalled environments.

Changes: Spoof-source related bugfixes were made.
