[001] - Aeromys 0.5.0

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Office/Business :: Groupware

About: Aeromys is an application that provides extremely fast access to
email through the Web. It accomplishes this by using predictive caching,
which means that information is retrieved from the mail server before it
is requested by the user. It is designed to be highly scalable, vastly
configurable, and extremely fast. The default front-end is written in PHP,
and the back-end engine is written in C.

Changes: This release boasts a major internal restructuring. The IMAP
library was switched from c-client to libEtPan. Multi-thread handling was
greatly improved.

About: BBclone is a PHP Web counter on steroids which displays individual
logs as well as aggregated data. It is a clone of Big Brother webstats,
except that it is written in PHP and it relies only on flat files (no
database needed). BBclone enables any Web site administrator to have a
very precise view of who visit the website: OS, browser, date, referring
page etc. Main features include reload resistance, hostname resolution,
proxy workaround, and blacklist.

Changes: Several minor bugs have been fixed, and the Russian and Ukrainian

manager with all features that the java.io package supports.

Changes: Many classes have been refactored, e.g. the logging code has been
completely ported to the Java logging API. Command line arguments for
connecting to servers at program start and a cleaner connection plugin
structure are two of the new features. There are many bugfixes.

About: Clam AntiVirus is an anti-virus toolkit for Unix. The main purpose
of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment
scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded
daemon, a commandline scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via
Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the
Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use in your own software.

Changes: This version improves detection of JPEG (MS04-028) based
exploits, and introduces support for TNEF files and new detection
mechanisms. Various bugfixes (including problems with scanning of digest
mail files) and improvements have been made.

Internet :: Log Analysis
Internet :: Name Service (DNS)

About: dnshistory provides a means for storing a history of DNS/name
changes over time from the IP Addresses gathered from within Web log
files. At its simplest, it will do massively parallel name lookups very
quickly. The lookups are not DNS only, and will use whatever naming
services your system is configured with. A second mode will take a Web log
file and replace the IP addresses with the previously stored names, sending
the resulting output to STDOUT.

  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 13:54

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Elektra provides a universal and secure framework to store
configuration parameters in a hierarchical key-value pair mechanism,
instead of each program using its own text configuration files. This
allows any program to read and save its configuration with a consistent
API, and allows them to be aware of other applications' configurations,
permitting easy application integration. While architecturally similar to
other OS registries, Elektra does not have most of the problems found in
those implementations.

Changes: New BerkeleyDB and ini files backends, ABI stabilization, better
XML import/export features and format, and improvements to the
documentation.

[013] - FormEntry 1.8
  by Terry Gliedt (http://freshmeat.net/users/tgliedt/)
  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 14:05

Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: FormEntry allows you to to generate an HTML interface for one or
more SQL tables. This allows users to maintain the content of the tables
through HTML forms rather than entering SQL commands through a terminal.
Since the forms are generated by this PHP application, there is no need
for users to understand the details of HTML forms. FormEntry allows you to
describe the column data with complex expressions to make it more difficult
for users to enter data incorrectly.

Changes: A major user interface rewrite. Bugfixes. XHTML and CSS support
have been added. A static demonstration site has been added. This release
requires a modern browser for the form that is generated. It requires a
careful review of your local_config.php. Be sure to compare it to the
released model_config.php.

[022] - IP::Country 2.19

  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 09:18

Internet :: Log Analysis
Software Development :: Internationalization
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules

About: IP::Country is a tool for fast lookup of country Finding the home
ccodes from IP addresses. Finding out the country of a client using only
the IP address can be difficult. Looking up the domain name associated
with that address can provide some help, but many IP address are not
reverse mapped to any useful domain, and the most common domain (.com)
offers no help when looking for country. This module comes bundled with a
database of countries where various IP addresses have been assigned.
Although the country of assignment will probably be the country
associated with a large ISP rather than the client herself, this is
probably good enough for most log analysis applications, and under test
has proved to be as accurate as reverse-DNS and WHOIS lookup.

Changes: This release amends LACNIC acceptable use, removes the dependency
on Geography::Countries (but not from ip2cc), removes the MaxMind tests,
and updates the database.

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Office/Business :: Office Suites
Text Editors :: Word Processors

About: KOffice is an integrated office suite based on the KDE libraries.
KOffice currently includes KWord, KSpread, KPresenter, KChart, Karbon14,
Krita, Kexi, KFormula, Kugar, and Kivio. There are no special mail and
news clients included in KOffice, because there are KMail and KNode
available for KDE anyway. All KOffice components work together, and you
can embed every KOffice component into any other KOffice component. This
is realized using the KParts object model.

Changes: A new image editor (krita), a new database management application
(kexi), OASIS OpenDocument support, and many improvements to the existing
applications.

  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 13:59

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE) :: Themes KDE 3.x
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions

About: Kslackcheck keeps in sync changelogs and shows updates in a
graphical popup in KDE, with just one click. It can tell users what
packages in need to be upgraded for major releases, and helps to download
them to a particular directory ready for manual upgrading.

Changes: Proxy support has been implemented. Setting a variable in the
configuration zone allows you to connect through a proxy using wget for
the dirty stuff. An annoying bug when downloading packages from the
/testing directory has been fixed. A progress bar while downloading
packages has been implemented. The name of the hidden directory in the
user's home directory has been changed. Cleanup and testing.

  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 13:55

Database
Database :: API
Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics

About: The libmba package is a collection of mostly independent C modules
potentially useful to any project. There are the usual ADTs including a
linkedlist, hashmap, pool, stack, and varray, a flexible memory allocator,
CSV parser, path canonicalization routine, I18N text abstraction,
configuration file module, portable semaphores, condition variables, and
more. The code is designed so that individual modules can be integrated
into existing codebases rather than requiring the user to commit to the
entire library. The code has no typedefs, few comments, and extensive man
pages and HTML documentation.

Changes: Portability has been greatly improved. It has been compiled and
tested on OSF1, HP-UX, Linux, Mac OS X, and FreeBSD with gcc, DECC, and
aC++. There have also been some minor modifications and enhancements.

[030] - MailManager 1.1 (Stable)
  by Graeme Mathieson (http://freshmeat.net/users/mathie/)
  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 09:27

Communications :: Email
Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Office/Business

About: MailManager helps teams deal with large volumes of email by
allocating mail to the right person, providing tools to help answer it
(prioritisation, reply templates, and a knowledge base), and allowing
managers to set service levels for different types of mail and report on
performance against service levels and volumes received. MailManager is
based on Zope which is required to use it. It is cross-platform, but most
of the testing has been under Linux and Mac OS X.

Changes: This release adds internationalization of the help documentation,
the ability to archive/restore tickets (RFE 953290), created tickets which
can have multiple attachments (RFE 987700), replies which can also have
multiple attachments (RFE 859141), the ability to store a standard set of
attachments on the system (RFE 985469), user notification on re-assignment
of tickets (RFE 978035), internationalization (i18n) ready for translation
to other languages, support for SSL connections to remote IMAP servers,
and the ability to use any mail headers in filters (RFE 859102).

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: Marauroa is a multiplayer online game framework server. It uses a
multithreaded server architecture with a UDP oriented network protocol, a
MySQL based persistence engine, and a flexible game system. The game
system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able
to run Python scripts defining the game's rules. Marauroa is based on a
design philosophy called Action/Perception. Marauroa is totally game
agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to
do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.

Changes: This release fixes a bug that was related to the way MySQL
managed transactions. It adds a method to request synchronization from a
unsynchronized client, so users should now expect better gameplay.

[033] - Metabase 2005.04.28
  by Manuel Lemos (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlemos/)
  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 00:25

Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Metabase consists of a set of PHP classes to access and manage
databases using an API that assures DBMS independence. It supports MySQL,
PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL server, Microsoft Access, ODBC,
Interbase, Informix, MiniSQL, and SQLite flat file databases. There is a
function library that interfaces with DBMS specific driver classes, a
parser class that interperts a custom XML format used to describe database
schemas, and a manager class that installs database schema objects (tables,
indexes, sequences) using the Metabase API. The manager class is also able
to upgrade a previously installed database to a new schema without
affecting that data that was stored since the database was installed or
was upgraded for the last time. There is also schema reverse engineering
support to help migrate database-specific applications and start using
Metabase.

Changes: The schema manager class was fixed to dump values of tables
fields in the Metabase XML schema format encoding the & characters
correctly. The script to dump reverse engineered database schemas in
Metabase XML format was fixed to work properly when dumping databases with
tables with BLOB/CLOB fields.

  Fri, Apr 29th 2005 10:29

Internet
System :: Networking

About: Miredo is a Unix daemon program which implements the "Teredo:
Tunneling IPv6 over UDP through NATs" Internet draft specification. It can
serve either as a Teredo client, a stand-alone Teredo relay, or a Teredo
server. The purpose of Teredo IPv6 tunneling is to provide IPv6
connectivity to users behind NAT devices, most of which do not support
IPv6, and not even Proto-41 forwarding.

Changes: A connectivity issue with restricted Teredo clients/relays was
fixed. Connectivity loss detection was reworked and reintroduced. Support
for overriding the server from the command line has been added, as well as
some minor cleanup.

About: Music Manager is a Konqueror plugin that lets you standardize the
filenames of your music files, guess information and set ID3 tags from the
file's name (this can be done to several files in one shot), rename many
selected files based on their ID3 tags, set ID3 tags in mass for selected
files with options for copying ID3s from other files and leaving some ID3
fields untouched, rename _ to space and vice versa, create HTML and text
indexes of your collections (including total playing time, etc.,
configurable through templates), create nice CD covers with full listings
of your music files (also configurable through templates), and organize
your music collection to create a CD.

keys and supports atomic commits, row-level user rights, and history
tracking.

Changes: This release skips attempting to commit a change to a row if
someone else already deleted the row, fixes a bug where it was possible

System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: RatheDG Cachalot System is an engine for traffic and user session
accounting. It is intended for use in Internet cafes and in home or
educational organizations' networks. The most important features of the
system are traffic accounting, user session accounting, remote client
session start/stop and computer shutdown, auto-finish of pre-paid client
sessions, flexible tariff plans, tracking sales of additional services,
and a flexible reporting engine that provides customizable reports.

Changes: Simplification of remote logon to the client computer in the user
interface. The ability to reboot the client computer remotely by user
interface means. The ability to increase the session prepayment by
entering the session time to be added. The limit of session traffic to 2
gigabytes is removed (now the limit value is quite huge: 2^64). Better
processing of unexpected errors on server-side. Small improvements in the
user interface. An upgrade to Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2_07,
PostgreSQL 7.4.7, and JPcap 0.01.16 for Linux.

Internet
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: Stunnix VBS-Obfus protects your VBScript code from potential
analysis, study, or reworking by unwanted parties. It's both an obfuscator
and encoder for the VBScript code. It converts the VBScript in raw .vbs
files, or in ASP or HTML pages into a highly obfuscated form, making it
extremely difficult to study, analyse, or reuse, while fully retaining
functionality of the original source code. It optionally adds expiration
and hostname checking. It has a lot of options to control all aspects of
code hiding, and has full support for all syntax constructs. It is
designed to be multi-module aware.

Changes: Non-standard syntax of the SSI #include command is supported now.
A bug in handling of files with something before the DOCTYPE declaration
was fixed. Stunnix Perl Web Server (used internally for the cross-platform
GUI) was updated to the most recent version.

'$*' & '$<' are used for explicit Target Rules. Note that Sun Make and GNU
make are broken in this area and smake's behavor is the best a make
