[001] - Bash.Diff 1.15
  by William Park (http://freshmeat.net/users/opengeometry/)
  Thu, May 12th 2005 13:59

Database :: Front-Ends
System :: Shells

About: Bash.Diff is a patch against Bash that incorporates many useful
features from Awk, Python, Zsh, Ksh, and others. In the main core, it adds
the following: new brace expansion {a..b}, new parameter expansion
${var|...}, new command substitution $(=...), extended for, while, and
until loops, extended case statement, new try-block with integer
exception, and new here document <&lt+. As builtin commands, it adds the
following: sscanf(3), <string.h>, and <ctype.h> wrappers, a variety of
array and regex(3) operations, GDBM, SQLite, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
database interfaces, an HTML template engine (BASP), stack/queue
operations on positional parameters and arrays, Expat XML parser
interface, simple x-y character plot, DOS line support, and simple Awk
emulation.

Changes: To the core shell parser, this version adds ${var|.singlequote},
${var|.doublequote}, ${var|.backslashquote}, and ${var|.ansicquote}, which
are simple hooks into internal C functions. It also adds ${var|.capwords}
and ${var|.title}, in keeping with Python string methods. ${var|,sep}
joins elements into a single concatenated string. To the loadable builtin
commands, this version adds 'pp_read', which reads from positional
parameters or arrays.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Booby is a Web-based Personal Information Manager (PIM) with
multi-user and multi-language support. It provides bookmarks/favorites, a
calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, news, management via a single login, and
the ability to import and export to common standards (Netscape/Opera
bookmarks, Opera contacts/vCards, etc.). Public bookmarks can also be
published on a Web site.

Changes: The public bookmark section contained a bug that allowed anyone
to see your private bookmarks by guessing the ID of the bookmarks. This
has been fixed.

[019] - Firewall Builder 2.0.7
  by Vadim Kurland (http://freshmeat.net/users/vkurland/)
  Thu, May 12th 2005 11:10

System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Firewall Builder consists of a GUI and set of policy compilers for
various firewall platforms. It helps users maintain a database of objects
and allows policy editing using simple drag-and-drop operations. The GUI
and policy compilers are completely independent, which provides for a
consistent abstract model and the same GUI for different firewall
platforms. It currently supports iptables, ipfilter, ipfw, OpenBSD pf, and
Cisco PIX.

Changes: This release includes bugfixes and minor improvements in the GUI
and policy compilers. The ability to search by IP address, TCP/UDP port,
ICMP type, or IP protocol number is now available in the GUI. The
administrator can now specify additional command line parameters for SSH
that the built-in installer runs to access the firewall, so alternative
SSH keys or port number can be used. Support has been added for dynamic
interface addresses in ipfilter.

[036] - MailManager 1.1.2 (Stable)
  by Graeme Mathieson (http://freshmeat.net/users/mathie/)
  Thu, May 12th 2005 11:07

Communications :: Email
Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Office/Business

About: MailManager helps teams deal with large volumes of email by
allocating mail to the right person, providing tools to help answer it
(prioritisation, reply templates, and a knowledge base), and allowing
managers to set service levels for different types of mail and report on
performance against service levels and volumes received. MailManager is
based on Zope which is required to use it. It is cross-platform, but most
of the testing has been under Linux and Mac OS X.

Changes: This release fixes #1196675 which would, under certain
circumstances, cause IMAP mail to be silently dropped. The ticket
restoration code is more resilient against invalid tar files (which have
been seen to be generated RHEL3 systems, but not on anything else tested
against). TemporaryFile() in the export code may be causing the same inode
to be reused, which the tar library can take to assume it is a hard-linked
file and set the linkflags header appropriately. Fortunately, it still
appends the correct file data.

About: Rearview is a three dimensional computer graphics engine which fits
both human perception and the shape of the real world better than common
polygon renderers do. It is not meant to be a very sharp-shaped,
high-contrast engine. Rearview's strength are grown things, dirty things,
and bumpy things, like smooth hills and old walls. To achieve this,
rearview uses a raytracing algorithm to visualise voxels stored in an
octree.

[056] - RPC::XML 0.58
  by Randy J. Ray (http://freshmeat.net/users/rjray/)
  Thu, May 12th 2005 14:01

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: RPC::XML is a set of classes in Perl for implementing XML-RPC
services both from the client side and the server side. Included are
classes for writing clients, writing stand-alone servers (using the
HTTP::Daemon class of LWP or the Net::Server class for transport
implementation), or implementing a server as an Apache/mod_perl location
handler.

Changes: This release fixes a small encoding bug with the "string" data
type, and adds flexibility to fault reporting in user-level code. A fix
has been implemented for intermittent IOCTL problems in file-reads for
some systems.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Webgen is a Web page generator implemented in Ruby. It is used to
generate static Web pages from templates and page description files. It is
easy to use and extensible through plugins.

Changes: The FileHandler now uses path patterns and/or extensions to
determine which files to process. ERB can now be used in templates and
page files, and the "relocatable" tag now accepts complex URIs. The
menuOrder meta info name was changed to orderInfo - pages and backing
files must be updated to reflect this. A PageHandler:useERB parameter was
added and the FileHandler:ignorePaths and FileCopyHandler:paths parameters
were changed.
