Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries
About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX Direct Connect, and DTAUS discs are currently supported. AqBanking is
used by GnuCash, KMyMoney, and QBankManager.
Changes: This version fixes many minor bugs, adds bank information for
Swiss banks, and provides the new command line tool "aqbanking-tool".
This tool can be used to execute basic home banking tasks (like retrieval

Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Printing
About: Asymptote is a powerful script-based vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. It is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program, allowing it to exploit the best
features of script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI)
methods. High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language
itself, allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
Changes: A binary search routine was added for sorted arrays. The handling
of NAN values was fixed. The "checkaxis" test in graph.asy was improved. A
problem with implicit closing of files was fixed. Minor changes were made
to support compilation under Cygwin. A workaround for the garbage
collection warning about repeated allocation of very large blocks was
introduced, along with other miscellaneous garbage collection updates. A
configuration option was added to request use of a (slower,
multi-threaded) system version of the Boehm garbage collector.

[010] - ccbuild 0.0.2
by A. Bram Neijt (http://freshmeat.net/users/bmm/)
Thu, May 19th 2005 14:12
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: ccbuild is like a dynamic Makefile. It finds all programs in the
current directory (containing "int main") and compiles them. For this, it
reads the C++ source and looks at all local and global includes. All C++
files surrounding local includes are considered objects for the mean
program. The global includes lead to compiler arguments like path includes
and libraries to link to. The main goal of the project is to allow
development without editing any scripts of any kind. Real
deployment/distribution should still be done with the autotools. As an
added bonus, it can create Makefiles and graph dependencies using DOT
(graphviz) graphs.
Changes: Support for the ".cpp" extension. A header file dependency in the
Makefile has been fixed. An error message has been added when a local
include isn't found/loadable. The default compiler command is set to "g++
-Wall -g". When you add an option (using --add), the defaults are removed.
Unknown commands are mentioned.

account manipulation, including importing from another programs, default
accounts, a command line interface, and call-back configuration.
Changes: A bug in the Edit Account window that caused an invalid state of
radio buttons and widget sensitivity when changing IP addresses and DNS
servers was fixed. The Modem Speaker Volume scale in the GTK2 interface
was fixed. A bug that caused invalid interpretation of the "_" character
(in the GTK2 interface) and the "&" character (in the Qt interface) in

[013] - Data2XML 1.1
by Blackmuzzle (http://freshmeat.net/users/Blackmuzzle/)
Thu, May 19th 2005 06:40
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Data2XML is a quick JAXB-based tool for parsing
simple-to-moderately-complex input data into a flat XML representation. It
is meant to replace simple String.substring() operations and keyword
searches in Java by an easy-to-use XML-configured parser. It is
initialized with an XML configuration file that dictates the parsing
rules, and can then be used to convert an input data stream into XML. It
can search for the occurrence of certain substrings and cut the data into
smaller "Tokens" using various conditions like offset definitions. After a
value is read, it can be validated against a set of OR- and AND-connected
tests that check for the occurrence or non-occurrence of certain strings,
check values, etc.
Changes: A "readUntilEnd" operator was added. Minor documentation updates
were made and an Ant build file was included.

System :: Benchmark
About: diskWriggler is a benchmark tool for testing filesystem storage
throughput of film or video frames as sequential files or as frames
contained in one large file. The expected audience is systems engineers
working in the film and post-production industries.
Changes: An issue with directIO alignment blocks not being an integral of
the frame size was fixed. This resolved faults such as those experienced
when attempting to write HD (High Def)-sized frames to a Container file.
Min, avg, and max values are now reported for FPS (Frames per Second) and
MB/s.

[015] - Dolox beta-0.2
by Gido-E (http://freshmeat.net/users/gidoe/)
Thu, May 19th 2005 06:27
About: Dolox (Datux Outlook Open-Xchange connector) is a Windows-based
program that synchronizes data from Outlook to a Unix-based Open-Xchange
server. Open-Xchange provides Web-based groupware in which colleagues can
create and view each other's appointments. The synchronization can be
started at any time. Making choices in conflict situations (when an object
has been changed on both sides) is up to the user.
Changes: The program now uses the XML interface of Open-Xchange. The
caching problem no longer exists. More fields of appointments are
synchronized. Support for contacts and tasks was added, and the
synchronization is split through threads. Configuration may be done
graphically. Exception handling was improved. The internal code was
optimized. User interface improvements and installation improvements were
made.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Fast MD5 Implementation in Java is a heavily optimized
implementation of the MD5 hashing algorithm written in Java. It includes
an optional native method for even greater speed improvements.
Changes: This release adds OS X support for native method, ekes a little
more speed out of the native method version by special-casing little
endian architectures and skipping operations that would be redundant on
them, adds the ability to access the MD5 instance held by an
MD5InputStream or MD5OutputStream, fixes incorrect documentation
describing how to bypass test for native methods, and adds a Linux

System :: Networking :: Monitoring
About: N-View is a network monitor for small and medium-sized networks. It
features automatic scanning of subnets for host addresses, monitoring of
ICMP responses from all hosts, signalling of timeouts and delays in the

connectivity to hosts by telnet, HTTP browser, or an arbitrary external
program (such as ssh), printing of network diagrams, automatic generation
of HTML pages, and more.
Changes: The "Host Properties Dialog" has been enhanced to accept hosts
with dynamic IP addresses. Hosts can now be manually added to a subnet
using their hostname rather then their IP address only. The system will
resolve and display the IP addresses of hosts with the "Dynamic IP"
property using DNS each time a host is checked. This way, hosts configured

Software Development :: Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: Raptor is a C library providing a set of parsers and serializers
for Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples by parsing syntaxes into
RDF triples and serializing triples into a syntax. The parsers support
RDF/XML, N-Triples, Turtle, XML RSS, and Atom 0.3 via RSS tag soup. The
serializers support RDF/XML, N-Triples, and RSS 1.0. Raptor handles
RDF/XML as used by RDF applications such as RSS 1.0, FOAF, DOAP, Dublin
Core, and OWL. It can use either expat or libxml2 for XML parsing, libcurl
when available for URI retrieval, and is portable to many POSIX systems.
Changes: A Gleaning Resource Descriptions from Dialects of Languages
(GRDDL) parser was added, allowing reading of XHTML and XML as RDF
triples. The RSS enclosures support in the RSS tag soup parser and RSS
1.0 serializer was updated to the latest schema. Other minor fixes and

Changes: Passwords are not stored as plain text in the database anymore,
but only as md5sums. The --daemon switch now allows Soulfind to fork into
the background at startup, and man pages are provided for soulfind and
soulsetup. Several bugs have been fixed, like the detection of homographs
in usernames and room names, and admin commands crashing the server.

[075] - Zero Memory Widget 0.1.0
by Thierry Excoffier (http://freshmeat.net/users/exco/)
Thu, May 19th 2005 06:39
Software Development :: User Interfaces
Software Development :: Widget Sets
About: The Zero Memory Widget library is as powerful as classic widget
libraries, but it does not use a single bit of memory per widget. So with
this library, there is no widget pointer/reference, instance
creation/destruction, event handler function, functions to read/write data
between widget and application, and so on. GUI programming with this
library is done in the C language, and it is as easy as composing an HTML
page.
Changes: The keyboard navigation is the main end user change in this
release. The cursor keys (up/down/left/right) can now be used to change
the widget with focus. The focus is not bounded by the window and will
jump into another window if it makes sense. The notebook page label should
now be an activatable widget, so the application source must be updated.
The home, end, and delete keys can now be uesed in the edit text widget.
The escape key now un-pops all popups windows.
