Strange things :-)

But it's all about the /usr/lib/rpmdb/i386-redhat-linux/redhat/rpmdb
database, which isn't the one of the installed packages, but looks like
one from those "rpmdb" packages that listed all the available rpms from a
given distro. I can't seem to find that any longer on FC4, so it might be
a leftover from an upgrade or something, especially if it's in db3 format!
Apt probably just "hides" those errors/warnings, or maybe doesn't use that
rpmdb by default.

Check with :
rpm -qf /usr/lib/rpmdb/i386-redhat-linux/redhat/rpmdb

And remove the package it belongs to (rpmdb or redhat-rpmdb?).

To install cinelerra and the required dependencies all in one go, just use
"yum install *.rpm" on the packages downloaded from the above location,
and it'll pull in the required dependencies from Core, Extras and
freshrpms (as long as you've installed the freshrpms-release package).
