Frankly, I'm not surprised. However nice piece of software it is, if
there's one thing that introduces incompatibilities between revisions
without any traces, it'd be ffmpeg. But fair enough, upstream doesn't
really recommend building shared ffmpegs anyway.
Almost without exceptions, one really wants to run apps built against
one version against the exact same version. The alternatives I've
personally witnessed are random crashes and silent breakage (literally
in the case of the vdr-dxr3 plugin ;)).
Even if somewhat draconian, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea after all to
clarify that eg. like this in dependent packages:
Requires: ffmpeg = %(rpm -q --qf %%{VERSION}-%%{RELEASE} ffmpeg-devel)
