Ok, the driver install with no problems and indeed the problem of
switching to and from a virtual console is fixed. Hooray. Only problem
I notice is that fglrxinfo shows the following for me after the upgrade:

fglrxinfo
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.1".
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.1".
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)

display: :0.0 screen: 1
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)

I'm still getting the Mesa info showing up so I don't know if something
is wrong with the package or if it is the way I installed it. I just an
rpm -Fvh on the new package to install it. Let me know if I can test
something.
