Re: alpha-sources broke my system

Thanks for the tip.  That restored the python dependencies so that emerge
now works again.

But now I have a new problem.  I cannot "make menuconfig", because Ncurses
is not installed.  I can't figure out why not.  I try "emerge ncurses",
but the configure script fails with:

...
Checking for C compiler default output...configure: error: C compiler
cannot create executables
...

I don't understand what has happened.  The system libraries all seemed to
be in place and working following "emerge -u system".  But after "emerge
alpha-sources", I get these problems: first the libstdc++ lib and now the
compiler failure.  Do you know what is going on here?
