Not an ELF file...

Hello,

I've probably worn out my welcome with Tavis working on why I couldn't get a Ruffian to boot an newer Milo, so I'll move my woes back to the list. Long story short, my problem ended up that the machine didn't have the video card in the 1st PCI slot, which is the 64-bit one. I guess the distributor assumed it should be in the 1st 32-bit slot.

Anyways, after getting to the gentomilo prompt, I put in the boot string listed in the howto at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-alpha-install.xml which is:

boot hdb:boot/vmlinuz initrd=initrd.img root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc

The error I get is it says something to the effect of "unzipping..not a zipped file" (working from memory right now), then proceeds to fill the screen with #'s while it's accessing the cd. It looks like it's trying to be a status bar, as they don't just fly by real quick.

At the end of that, the following is displayed:

Not an ELF file
...Image loaded into memory, entry @ 0x0
MILO: Failed to load the kernel

I've tried 1.4rc1-test3 and test4, both having the same error. I know the CD can be read, as I can do an "ls hdb:" and it shows correct files.

Google didn't turn up anything for this. Does the boot command need to be different for a ruffian, or is there a different liveCD I should use?

Thanks...
