I assume you have an IDE CDR drive, correct?

I think it's better to compile SCSI support into the kernel, and add the
kernel boot parameter hdb=ide-scsi (or whatever hd* your CD drive is on).
You can add it in the GRUB menu.lst file.

Otherwise the IDE driver claims the CDR drive, and you are too late...

What output do you get from cdrecord -scanbus?

I have loaded the sg and ide-scsi modules manually, just to be sure.
However, CD record still can not find the scsi devices.  Why is it looking
at /dev/pg*?
