RE: x86 install and partitioning.

It might be helpful to read:

That should give you some introduction into fdisk, and into partitioning.
It should also answer questions you have on how to partition your disk.
That HOWTO does mention making lots of partitions (/home, /tmp, etc.).  I'd
recommend sticking to the layout as mentioned in the Gentoo doc.

It might be wise to skim through:

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX/categories.html

and see what topics you can read up on.  I think part of the Gentoo
experience is really understanding why you are typing in all those commands
during the installation.

setup floppy to partition the disk into two 16Gb partitions I use under 98

a third partition of 8Gb that I intend to use for linux.

Gwendolyn pointed out about /dev/hda and /dev/hdb, so in my case I am
dealing
with hdb. Do I need to repartition the 8Gb I set aside to produce the three
partitions mentioned in the install guide prior to commencing the install?
