For some reason the latest ebuild does not create the hold directory. 
 What I had to do was

mkdir hold  in /var/spool/postfix
chown postfix  /var/spool/postfix/hold

And all was good.  Your mail spool may be someplace else, but this is 
what you need to do.  Hope that helps.
