ebuild for simple telnet client?

Hi all,

before I ask my question I would just like to say how much I am enjoying
playing and learning with gentoo-ppc on my new iBook.  Thanks for such a
fun and clever distro.

My question is this, I have just emerged netkit-telnetd but all I really
wanted was the client.  I have I missed something obvious here or do I
really have to build the whole kit and Kaboodle just to query smtp, web
and sms servers?
