long lag at boot because of LAN

Hello

Hardware: Laptop with both regular LAN and built in Wireless.

Of course since it isa laptop I am not hooked up all the time to either
of them and I am very rarely hooked up to both.

If I boot the system the device that is not hooked up takes forever to
move on...  IT searxhes for network for-ever...

Is there any way to change this?  Shorter timeout time?  I really want
to stay away from the turning them off solution and manually loading
them.

Please let me know.
