The /boot and /root partitions are mounted with scripts, not the fstab 
file, I believe.
My box was booting up fine for about 2 days, and then suddenly quit, so 
I would have to think that my kernel is properly configured.

I doubt it's my hard drive either because I'm running a dual boot XP 
system and I've never had any problems with it.
