If so, perhaps the fist block is > damaged on that drive. 03 is the major number and 01 is the minor number, i checked it on my pc and it is the same as /dev/hda1 i suggest that you delete the hda1 partition and make a new one, dont change the file system type. after that do a mke2fs -j /dev/hda1 and you're good to go. do you try to mount hda1 as a fat filesystem perhaps? > > This may be the reason it is set to read only filesystem? > > Michael S.
