I had the same problem on my Duron system and it was because I did not choose the correct CPU option when doing the make menuconfig. Once I set it to the correct CPU it worked fine. I also had problems with the Gentoo sources on a K6-2 and I ended up using the vanilla sources on it to get it working. -Yancey Jones (go Bearcats)
