Gentoo Linux into the future

I want to start a discussion related to the article posted on the
www.gentoo.org web site.
On the #gentoo-server irc the discussion came up that if we should try
to involve the Gentoo server community in the structure and management
of Gentoo.

I think that making Gentoo more organized is a very good ide. As the
number of Gentoo users grow so dose the number of Gentoo server. As a
Gentoo user I fell fine. But a sysadmin has other needs then the user.
In my experience a sysadmin has the following needs:
1. Time. Especially in the privet sector you can't spend days on end
setting up a server.
2. Stability. We have to trust that the packets that we emerge are
stable enough for our production servers. Testing them out ourselves
takes to much time (ref point number one)
3. Other security needs. We need secure systems but without loosing too
much user friendliness.

I also want to ask Klieber if he would like to represent the Gentoo
server community as he is already a top level developer. He is already a
frequent user of the #gentoo-server and a dam good linux Gentoo user,
sysadmin, developer. He has both the skill and the knowledge to do the
job.=20

The goal of this discussion should be to com up with a unified response
from the Gentoo server community to the new structure.

This is my point of view and I would like to here your comments on it.
Please feel free to add some points if you like.=20

For:
1. A Gentoo sysadmin and server environment has other needs then you
average Gentoo user and we have to make sure that this is also considers
when decisions for the future and structure of Gentoo is taken.

2. Linux is a server based os.

Against:
1. We should not isolate us form the other Gentoo users (we are also
users :) )We should not involve ourselves in any form of groupism.

2. The top level development tree should be as short as possible. Maybe
we should make a sub project of Gentoo-alt. If so would this ensure that
the Gentoo server related issues were properly represented at the top
level? Please give comments/suggestions to this point.
